About Pacifica Hospital of the Valley

Pacifica Hospital of the Valley is a full service hospital based in Sun Valley, California. Among their many clinical services is the Mind Wellness Health Urgent Care Clinic, which serves teens and adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This location is accessible via the Los Angeles Metro bus system. They accept some insurance, and if you’re uninsured, they can help you apply for Medicaid or Medicare. They also have a financial assistance program for which you may qualify.

Clinical Emergency Care Without Hospitalization

Many of us are used to visiting the ER when the unexpected happens, but it can feel different when you’re dealing with mental health or addiction. While intakes and long-term stays can be beneficial, the time they take away from other responsibilities can be off putting. But there is another way.

The mental health urgent care option at this hospital provides rapid stabilization and referral services to get you back on your feet and the right path. They try to avoid hospitalization unless it’s necessary, so you’ll only have an inpatient stay if an assessment determines it’s best for your current condition.

Community Based Recovery Groups

Among the case management services this location offers is a connection to community based recovery groups. These aren’t treatment centers but rather support groups that can aid you during treatment and recovery. There are numerous groups following different models or specialties, so you’re sure to find something that agrees with you.

I arrived at the emergency room with my son, and as people told me that in any emergency hospital it takes hours, they were doing tests on everything and when I came in they already had the results and the diagnosis was channeled and everything and they called to hospitals where there is a pediatrician to better care for my son's case and they called an ambulance and transferred us to another hospital

My dad had a seizure it was really bad and we bought my dad his service dog these nurses denied us. I don't recommend Pacifica hospital in the valley. I would recommend Kaiser Permanente. At least they will listen to you and not pretend that you're stupid. They make me so mad where I am writing this complaint and review. Let everyone know not to come here

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

I’ve read the reviews but honestly for me the 5 times that we’ve been in the ER the staff was attentive & nice to us we didn’t have to wait that long (1-3 hours )

Believe the reviews. It's the most disgusting facility I've ever seen. Equipment isn't cleaned between patients, there was what looked to be human feces smeared on the bathroom wall, and there were bedbugs infesting the lobby. Which, you are treated in the lobby and have to go back and forth between it and a triage room. My final straw was when the phlebotemist drew blood from someone in the lobby inches from the bare feet of a sleeping, half naked tweaker... This place needs to be shut down.

My son had an accident when he was barely 18 months old. I was new to the area and unfamiliar with our local hospitals. I chose the closest one obviously called the E.R to let them know I was on the way withy son. They saw him right away and even tho they don't have a pediatric care unit they gave him care and also gave him an MRI to be sure. They kept me calm and attended to him like he was there own. My son is 3 now but I highly recommend going here in emergencies. Not sure how the actual staff is tho outside the E.R
