if i could give this place a zero, i really would. i was told in my autism report that all my tests were “invalid” because they basically thought i was copying others around me and lying on my tests. why would i lie about things like that? i was told i also failed my adhd test because my test results were also invalid. i have never once heard a place unable to give a diagnosis because test results were invalid, and i was also told that i made eye contact with the professional i was with when i would barely look at anywhere other than my hands or the floor. i was also told i didn’t have any stims or anything with my hands, but i had several stim toys to keep my hands preoccupied throughout the consultation. i was never once asked about any of my special interests nor did the professional ask any sort of question that would’ve been helpful to the appointment. i wasted three hours of my time with a professional that i felt very uncomfortable with and she also treated me and talked to me like i was a child. i was told all of my issues were due to my anxiety, my major depressive disorder, and my ptsd. i will be taking my treatments elsewhere and i really do hope all of these professionals get re-educated in their field. i will never recommend this place to anybody, not even my worst enemy.

Was transferred around the call tree 4 times without receiving an answer to my question. Wanted a phone call with the therapist to ensure a good fit for my children, so as not to waste anyone's time. Was sorely disappointed in the staff and lack of personalization. Feels like a commercial cranking point for therapy and not mental health intervention.

Their ADHD testing methods are horribly old and outdated; they do not understand women and ADHD and how depression and anxiety can be caused by untreated ADHD. I have been tested and gaslighted twice saying I do not have ADHD and that it’s just anxiety although that did not explain my symptoms at all. I went to another clinic outside of Pine Rest and actually got a positive ADHD diagnosis!!! All that suffering for nothing.

Accepted Insurance

Pine Rest – Psychological Consultation Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients in inpatient rehab reside at the treatment facility while engaging in intensive daily treatment. Inpatient care is primarily designed for clients leaving detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Clients participate in intensive addiction counseling, which may include group and family therapy as well as one-on-one sessions. Recovery-focused life skills training is also often prioritized. Many inpatient rehabs offer evidence-based complementary therapies, such as yoga, meditation, art therapy, and animal therapy.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

While many people know it as "day treatment", a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers treatment during the day and allows you to live at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment every week, with a program duration that spans approximately 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs offer telehealth options. PHP treatment plans usually include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) typically have completed inpatient treatment, but some choose to enroll in IOP immediately following detox. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level support for clients in early recovery and those at an increased risk of relapse. Most programs provide between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week, with services ranging from addiction counseling to recovery education to medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as acupuncture, are common.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Michigan is essential for certain phases of recovery treatment. During detox, many physical ailments related to the detox process can be lethal if not treated. Having medical staff available at all times provides the proper care for safe detox. Medications and other treatment can also make the process much more comfortable and bearable.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

During a medically supervised detox, addictive substances are removed from your body while under the 24/7 supervision of medical professionals in an inpatient environment. This is the safest way to wean your body off of addictive substances, since quitting alcohol or certain drugs (like opioids or benzodiazepines) can be dangerous if done on your own. The program typically lasts around 5-7 days, but is highly individualized depending on your needs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Telehealth lets you get the support you need from the safety and comfort of your own home. You can visit with your healthcare provider online via your favorite device. This saves time and money and may allow you to connect with a specialist sooner than an in-person appointment would allow.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

During a drug intervention in Michigan, family, friends, and colleagues share in their own words how a person's substance abuse has affected their lives. An intervention must be carefully planned, with the goal of encouraging the individual to get treatment for their addiction. Many rehab programs offer intervention services to help families prepare for this confrontation and guide them through the recovery process.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Alcoholism is characterized by the excessive or compulsive use of alcohol, which does not stop despite negative consequences. This compulsive use leads to psychological and physical dependence. To break this dependence, alcohol rehab in Michigan is necessary. Treatment is available from a range of services, including residential programs, outpatient treatment, AA, medical detox, and evidence-based counseling. Support systems are also a crucial part of long-term recovery.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Michigan's dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide specialized treatment for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Levels of care include outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Using a combination of evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group therapy, and psychoeducation, clinicians can help you address the underlying cause of your addiction, treat both disorders, and promote overall mental health and well-being. You'll also develop a support network and enhance your coping skills.

If you're in Michigan and seeking help for both mental health and substance abuse, dual-diagnosis rehabs offer comprehensive care to meet your specific needs. These specialized facilities combine evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and experiential therapies — like mindfulness, yoga, and recreation therapy — to addressing both aspects of your mental health. This integrated approach provides holistic recovery, prioritizes your overall well-being, and gives you the tools for lasting recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

In Michigan, specialized substance abuse treatment programs are available for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol use. These programs utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Treatment options usually include outpatient, inpatient, and residential programs, offering individuals a comprehensive approach to recovery. Through a combination of therapy, counseling, and support, treatment can help individuals regain control of their lives and achieve long-term sobriety.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
teen-program thumbnail image

Teen program

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image

Child program

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
postpartum-program thumbnail image

Postpartum program

The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.
seniors-program thumbnail image

Seniors program

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young adult program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

I was referred by my provider to the consultation center for psychological testing and felt like I received great care from the staff. The front desk staff were very friendly and prompt, and the doctor and assistant were knowledgeable and kind. My psychoanalysis when reviewed with my provider was deemed accurate and insightful, and I was provided with great recommendations for resources to look into. While I can’t speak for other services provided, I would recommend this facility for anyone looking to have diagnostic testing performed.

Response from the owner
That's great to hear, Lindsey, thank you for taking the time to leave a 5-star review! We train hard to operate at maximum efficiency, and we'll be sure to pass along your comments to the PCC team.

Went for an adult ADHD evaluation and had a wonderful experience. I was originally booked for an appointment 5 months away but being on the cancellation list allowed me to get my initial interview about 2 months after referral and the evaluation and final diagnostic result appointment were scheduled about 2 weeks after my first interview. Dr. Hill-Lee made the experience easy and efficient and was a wonderful doctor to work with.

Response from the owner
Thank you for taking the time to share about your positive experience and leave a 5-star review, Sarah! We’ll be sure to pass along your comments to the rest of the team here at Psychological Consultation Center.

Pregnant lady did my testing. Said I didn’t have autism because I didn’t have developmental delays. That’s the only reason. She said I’m probably just anxious and said she’d refer me to a bunch of social groups as I don’t know how to function like a normal person. I feel as if I was improperly diagnosed and have not heard a single word about my referrals. Place is a joke. Invalidating and old testing. Don’t go here

Response from the owner
Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. We appreciate your taking the time to offer feedback and have forwarded your message so the appropriate departments can be made aware. If you wish to discuss this matter directly by phone, please call 877.874.2708.

It took forever to get an appointment, and I went all the way to grand rapids to be told I do not have ADHD or autism because I seem to do fine in social situations and don’t repetitively move. I have had to mask my whole life, much like most women who go undiagnosed. I have many symptoms of both, I just don’t think the doctors here are educated enough on female autism and ADHD

Response from the owner

It took 8-10 months to get into testing just for the psychologist to deem my test results invalid , and she would not provide the actual test results despite me specifically asking for them. I fought my case to redo the testing just to experience the same type of treatment the second time. The psychologist made comments such as, I scored worse than a child, so she doesn't believe I'm trying my best, and I'm not functioning at my "true ability" level even though I explained that I provided my all during these tests. She also made comments that my test results were worse than dementia and traumatic brain injury patients. I believe that based off my age and level of education , the psychologist is judging that my test results isn't not accurate, because she believes that it's not possible to get those kind of results with the level of education I have. I have not provided any evidence that I'm not trying my best during these tests. When it's all said and done I will be at $2,000 in cost just to get treated like I'm lying or not trying my best.

I would not come here for an adult autism assessment, as I had an incredibly invalidating experience that I would not wish on other women struggling with similar issues. This was everything I had feared and heard of from other members of the community regarding misdiagnosis and biases against women presenting these symptoms. I will let my assessment speak for itself. The first paragraph is the result of the actual testing. The second is my assessor's summary. "completed the SRS-2, a rating scale that assesses symptoms related to autism spectrum disorder. responses revealed an overall score in the severe range... likely experiences notable stress from changes in routine, unexpected events, or contradictory information. Her interpersonal style is somewhat remote, and she does not report much interest in social relationships" "childhood history of symptoms is challenging to document without collateral information and has a history of trauma which makes ruling autism in/out complex. Given these factors, while does exhibit some symptoms of autism spectrum disorder, a diagnosis cannot be made." At the end, my assessor decided to label me as a person with traits of borderline personality disorder despite me politely but adamantly advocating against this in the follow up session we had and trying to inform her of the ways in which I felt this did not fit my experience, the diagnosis was often bias towards women, and was a popular misdiagnosis for women presenting with nuerodiverse symptoms. Quite frankly, my assessor was not informed of what nuerodivergence looks like in adult women and also did not make appropriate space for me to demonstrate or express the portions of my childhood that seemed to be so important and contingent to a diagnosis. I will now have to carry the bpd stigma with me to every practitioner that uses mychart because of the mistreatment I experienced at this center.
