Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Wonderful Staff

Wonderful, caring staff truly care about the patients and work hard to help them. Therapy is structured and based on an individual’s needs. I would highly recommend this program if you or a loved one need inpatient or outpatient care.

This review is long overdue. I was inpatient for mental health at Sycamore Springs for quite some time last summer. And overall I would give Sycamore Springs 3-4 stars but my med provider while I was there makes this place 10 stars! Jessica Walsh was phenomenal from the moment we met. She immediately made me feel like she cared and wanted to help. For the first time in almost a decade I felt like I could get better. She was professional and extremely knowledgeable. She made many changes while I was there that would lead me to being more stable now than I have been in around a decade. I truly believe much of my progress can be attributed to my time being treated by Jessica Walsh at Sycamore Springs. Jessica empowered me to believe in myself and my abilities. She did not JUST prescribe meds and send me on my way. She prescribed meds AND empowered me. So, shout out to Sycamore Springs for employing such a great provider.

I wish I could give Zero Stars. This place is not open 24/7 as advertised. If you have serious conditions like Concussion/TBI, Seizures, Stunted Mentally, Complex PTSD or Veteran, Rare FND/Conversion Disorder, or Higly Sensitivities to Psychiatric Medications, do not go here. Call 911 if you are there and they refuse to treat you with dignity and ethically. They will get you quickly addicted on new medications or over medicated into vicious cycle - so you are only money to them. I came in with a concussion, stroke high blood pressure, and medication sensitivities - even though I consented to them getting my blood pressure lowered - they refused. I was blindly put on Zipraidon and Doxipen which I am highly senitive to. Three days later I still have stroke high BP and needed up having a Stroke/Paralysis. Now I have a so called life altering disorder (even though its really from these medication injuries). They do not use proper common ethical sense care. My medical records were clearly ignored. Refused to refer out. I was severely gaslit, mistreated, and neglected because I was now disabled/paralyzed when I was mandated to return. I feel like I was assulted/battered because of this new conversion disorder's misconceptions and new onset of seizures from topamax. Again they continued to issue this medication for 2 more days ALONG undocumented medications. Refused to send me to the hospital when i started sliding out of my wheelchair seizing. Over telehealth I was again misdiagnosed as Borderline Personaility and Recommended to do ECT. Because my new seizures were apparently resistive to care and so called fake, attention seeking, malingering according to conversion disorders misconceptions. Staff were neglectful and unprofessional—laughing at documented hypersensitivities, trauma disclosures, and restricting access to basic care like food, showers, and outside even though my seizures had passed. I was held against my will, denied access to my support system, and stripped of any autonomy. My health rapidly declined under their care, and I developed new, permanent disorder and seizures after they blindly prescribed Zipraidone and Doxipen, Klonopin, Topamax, Latuda and Cymbalta. They refused to send me to a hospital and continued the medication even undocumented medication after serious adverse effects. I have noticed they even regulate basic therapies (art, yoga, but pet therapy isnt even offered). They have removed exercise equipment, restrict all visitors under 18. outdoor visits with family/support. Coffee is only decaf, snacks are limited, and you must ask just to get a cup of water. Clothes were often lost, access to do laundry now denied. This facility caused life-altering harm and failed at every level to provide safe, ethical and common sense care. I am pursuing media exposure, legal action, and etc. Especially since I was forced to ambulate in order to discharge not once but twice. This resulted in two seizures and reoccuring seizures with vomiting/choking anytime I talk about this in in mental therapy, in rehab across the street, or go pass this place. Go to a real hospital like IU or St. E if you're in mental crisis—this place will make things worse. Especially if you are trying to break your addiction. I am deathly afraid to talk about my health and mental health to anyone including my therapist or seek help when I am crisis now. I have LOST my home, my career of almost 20 years, my car, ability to drive nor take public transportation, I can't physically stand prolonged periods or walk long distances. I can't even ride a bike. Hold or babysist my great-nephews. Now I can barely lift a 40 thing of water bottles. I get seizures and crushing malaise anytime I try to exert or try to exert a little more each day. I have lost financial security and stability. Burdening my family. Vocational Rheb terminated and jobs discriminate me because of my disability. Before Sycamore Springs I was a successful therapist, doing laundry, chores, dead lifting 300lbs, jujitsu, swimming, walk/run/hike 3-5 miles.

My blood pressure was above stroke level, they refused to give my medication although it was available at the nurse station causing me an anxiety attack, very insensitive and life threatening, they also put me in a room with a biological female because she was transgender and identified as a male.

This is a warning to anyone in a sensitive mindset needing help. Beware of this place, they WILL turn you away. First I called to ask how the intake process was as I never had to admit myself. Man on the phone laughed at me and basically just said that I just have to walk in and they'll handle the rest. Didn't even make sure I was safe or ask for a call back number. It took every ounce left in me to walk through these doors after attempting suicide. I wanted to be committed to save myself. The old woman at the front desk told me "It will be SEVERAL hours before anyone can even see you. You're more than welcome to wait here, but it'll still be SEVERAL hours before someone can meet with you. I suggest coming back at a different time, maybe in the morning after breakfast!" Not exactly the way you should speak to someone literally ASKING for help to not kill themselves. They do not care about you. Do not go here if you need help. Thankfully I received help elsewhere, that's why I'm still alive and able to write this, no thanks to Sycamore Springs.

I at first thought this place would be helpful. A few things occurred with a male nurse that seem To be very HUGE RED FLAGS. Secondly my child told me that they would NOT allow her to go outside OR to the cafeteria UNLESS she took her meds. It was A PRN! She informed me that she felt like she was losing her mind and they continued the meds. I even informed two nurses. Want to talk about rules? When the ROI WAS changed by my family member staff still Shared….yet they PICK & CHOOSE. My kid was discharged and ended up In the WRONG “uber” and instead of coming home they ended up 4 hours away from home. Did SYCAMORE SPRINGS VERIFY WHO DRIVER WAS? NO! Did they wonder why their other patient was sitting in the lobby and not had his ride yet? Did the facility do anything besides call me and inform Me they don’t know why or how this happened? I asked them to get the plate number and share it with law enforcement. In fact the county I live in even ASKED THEM TO when they were sent to My home by sycamore springs to do a wellness check and she wasn’t here. They didn’t even share what she was wearing when we went ahead to file a missing persons report. The ONLY thing the staff did was inform us SHES 18 SHES AN ADULT. It’s not Our fault. Then turn around say she isn’t missing WHEN BOTH MY COUNTY AND THEIR COUNTY POLICE EXPLAINED TO THEM SHE IS A MISSING PERSON. 8 hours later in a snow storm and no sign of my kid and these jacka**** did nothing. She ended up found outside and taken into an ER. The ER was able to get her home safely the next day after the snow storm. All WHILE SYCAMORE SPRINGS WOULDNT EVEN COMMUNICATE WITH THE FACILITY or ME TO DO ANYTHING. Then we are told that they went ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR MY FAMILY!!!!!!!! ! And HAVE BEEN MORE THEN COURTEOUS ???????? HOW?????? WHEN?????? They have zero cares in the world! Do NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!!!!!

We have a loved one that was transported to this facility 3 days ago and we have had no contact since. We have tried to call numerous times and have left several messages to no Avail . I did speak to a nurse 1 time on the phone and because of hipa she couldn’t tell me anything which I understand and that we need his patient number and room number to talk to him but No one can give it to us we also know that if he had access to call and give us that information himself he would we have left our numbers with the facility so we are lost on what to do someone is making medical decisions for a patient that can’t and we are not sure whom is doing so . The lack of communication and respect for this family is horrible! His 72 year old mother has cried herself sick not knowing if he is okay .. This in unacceptable to say the least .. We just want some communication and the Patient himself would also want that . So our review of this facility is very poor at this point . UPDATED NOTE : Notice all the feedback from the owner is basically the same . …. Telling me to reach out to the hospital doesn’t work if you read my review your staff doesn’t return phone calls so maybe you should reach out to the people whom have complaints.
