My daughter is an addict. I don’t know how I got thru this, a nightmare that no parent wants to hear. “Mom, I need help, I’ve been using cocaine for over a year and don’t know how to stop, along with anything else I could get my hands on” She had been living in her car and in and out of home for over a year. I didn’t see the signs. I thought she was just living her life and partying it up with her friends. As much as I begged her to settle down and get a job and take responsibility, she is an adult and I couldn’t t make her do it. She has always had the worst case of FOMO. But I never dreamed it was drugs. I knew she was smoking pot, but at this point it was legal. I figured pot was the lesser of all evils and I saw it as a blessing, thinking it could always be worse. Well it was and now she was asking for help. She had always battled with anxiety depression and getting diagnosed with bipolar disorder. So she came home and we got on the phone and called some places. Banyan called her right back and within an hour, she was signed up and even offered to come get her, but she wanted to pack and get ready to go. The rehab farm was about 3-4 hours away from us, so I worked a half day the next day and then we hit the road. They welcomed us both with open arms and were so kind and patient with my daughter. She was in a 30 day program. She loved it. They had different groups and hourly smoke breaks and she’s made some life long friends from there too. She went to a lighter program after in Palm Springs and didn’t want to come home. She did great and finally had a more positive outlook on life. I even had my own angel looking out out for me - she was for the family support and was always there for me. I could text her night and day and ask her anything and if she didn’t know, she would find out rather quickly. She still checks in with me after my daughter has been home for 9 months and doing so well. She is strong in AA and just got a job that she is enjoying l. Im so proud of her and how far she’s come. We couldn’t have done it without all the wonderful people and support from Banyan. Highly recommended!!!!

I was here from 2004-2007. My experience here was very different from where I had been previous places. You re out I m the middle of nowhere removed from your family,friends and most likely where you grew up at. When I first got there you were introduced to your administration for your program. I was put on program 2 the NFL floor I don t know if it s called that now, but that s what it was called when I was there. My first few weeks there took some getting use to, very restrictive setting everything you do here is about accountability which in return taught youth here responsibility. The way the program is setup is strict as well everything you do is monitored by staff and higher admins. The room you get is a decent size one bed a dresser and a cabinet dresser to hang coats or bigger items. And a table and chair in there as well. The bathroom was in the hallway there was 2 of them, bathroom was pretty big too stand up shower sink toilet the basics. The floor itself is pretty spacious it could accommodate I would say 40-50 people at any given time. There was one room we called quads you got to earn that room to be able to sleep in a room with 3 other individuals which was considered a luxury well earned. A typical day consisted of waking doing your morning routine ie: washing up,showering using the rest room. When going anywhere we had to line up in a single file line to they could pretty much do count. You would head downstairs to the cafeteria to eat breakfast majority of the time you got to sit where you wanted. Lunch was the same and so wasn t dinner. The food wasn t too horrible at times. I would rate the food 7 out of 10. Your typical day consisted of group therapy, 1 on 1 with a therapist or counselor aka staff member. The people I had on my floor were Jim Herder, Mike Cordetti, bill Featherstone, and cannot for the life of me remember the lady s name who was our administrator for our floor. But they were tough people but at the end of the day they cared for you. Hats just my personal opinion from interactions with them. Oh her name was Rhonda lol. You got to watch tv but some channels or movies were restricted the same went for music,magazines, and photos. We had sports teams, track soccer softball, basketball. They had a swimming pool don t if it s actually usable anymore because of problems they were having at the time with it. At onarga it s about earning everything because when you come there you re don t get to do whatever you want until you ve earned. It s a system that they go by, it all ties into your groups, staff interactions, peer interactions and what you re there for. I was able to achieve NFL veteran status before I left which was a tough task and grind. They don t give it to you easy I got turned down a few times along the way, but I kept pushing because I wanted to be the first person to achieve such a feat. It was very rewarding for me in the long run. Your main objective is to make your way over to the independent living program across the street from the main campus. Which is what a lot of guys should ve been working towards. Everything wasn t always perfect you seen fights, you heard of in appropriate actions, and a whole bunch of code reds. There was a third shifter who there by the name of Joe farmer who I didn t like at first but after him and I got to know each other we turned out to be I would say good friend. Dale was one of the best, Melissa, Arami, Carl who we called Pelon which is bald man in Spanish lol. There s a few others as well but I can t recall their names. The school system quite honestly from a person who lived there and went to the school on campus and Iroquois west high school. The schools are night and day compared to one another. I thought it was a joke and I m sure I wasn t the only. I m not saying that the teachers were bad it s just not your regular school that s all. I would like to come back to Onarga academy or nexus academy and talk to the young man that are there now.

I'm takin responsibility for all the trouble I caused while I was there and do sincerely apologize for all of it and just wanted to say for the P3 staff that remember me 😆 Hiiiii 👋 I'm living my best life I got my Ls got a car got a dog and a house I have 2 jobs and am doing amazing 👏 I honestly owe it all to you guys cuz I think back to all our groups and stuff when I'm goin thru sum I explore new coping skills and invest time in doin key things that help me .... so thank you all .... This is a 5 star facility. The staff, the counselors, & the medical team made this the best experience of my life. I honestly don’t know how they do it. The addiction education and treatment is amazing. I’ve learned so much, this place has changed my entire outlook on life. Shout out to employees TAYLOR, GENESIS, LINDSAY, JUSTINE, SHANIA, KARA. You guys are phenomenal. Please keep doing what you’re doing, you guys don’t get paid enough for the work you do. This would be my second time at river bend , When faced with the decision on which place I would seek treatment at , The only place I truly knew I would get help at was river bend . The staff there are so kind and respectful. They truly understand that no one wants to be there so they do their best to make it a better experience for everyone. I spent Easter at river bend and I am so thankful for the staff who truly cared and found ways to make the day a good one. Shout out to Corey for always be a good staff and making my experience at river bend a positive one and to Mindy (not sure how to spell names) for being an awesome staff and hiding Easter eggs for us and of course Ali for being an excellent nurse and advocating for me! Also shout out Dixie for talking to me and just being an amazing nurse! Night shift tech Victoria is so kind and caring so shout out to her also . I went to the ARC program here. Which is the addiction unit and it absolutely changed my life. The staff were absolutely amazing. Some of them are still major parts of my life and my recovery. I couldn’t be more blessed for my time spent there . Such an amazing place . The therapist were perfect. The leadership was perfect. I don’t have one complaint. And I gave them a run for their money and they never stopped showing me love and support. Thank you for saving my life !❤️

I didn't catch her name - but on 1/31 at 3:18 pm, an absolute angel of an employee spent 15 minutes of her time talking on the phone with me about my health concern and shared her similar story with me. She was the kindest, most compassionate employee I have ever encountered during my entire scary health experience. She even offered advice on what she did in her case, and I am so appreciative of the time and effort she spent talking to me. I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it encourages other people to seek out care for their own scary health experiences. The MRT, sober school, and weekly house meetings is the core of the program. Over the year that I’ve been here I have been graced to know a lot of people. I saw what worked and what didn’t. This program brought me to multiple different meetings of recovery also. In the past this may have been a different program but as it sits with me it has been directly responsible for equipping me with the tools to START a lifetime of recovery though I will have to continuously upkeep my recovery in order to make it successful but this program is a great start. It’s a nine month program but I was able to stay longer because I don’t feel quite ready to leave. It afforded me the opportunity to continue to help new people coming in and improve my own abilities. I am now coming up on one year and I can confidently say the effort is not only proportional of my own work but the thought and attention of the program that is a living organism- growing and developing when required. It’s not a stationary object never to be changed. It’s being built on continuously through a team of kind compassionate and knowledgeable folks that are open minded and willing to review things that may no longer work or might work better.
