Dr. Barbara Fisher had her license suspended for 18 months in May of 2007 for violating Michigan Public Health Code 16221(a), 16221(b)(i), and 16221(b)(vi).Here's the language of the health code which she violated:Except as otherwise specifically provided in this section, a violation of general duty, consisting of negligence or failure to exercise due care, including negligent delegation to or supervision of employees or other individuals, whether or not injury results, or any conduct, practice, or condition that impairs, or may impair, the ability to safely and skillfully engage in the practice of the health profession.(b) Personal disqualifications, consisting of 1 or more of the following:(i) Incompetence.(vi) Lack of good moral character. Here's my story:Family member received psychological testing. After filling out all the paperwork, scheduling the appointment, and paying close to $1,000 (they didn't take our insurance), we have nothing to show. They refuse to send any sort of report to us, after numerous requests and calls. They said that our $1,000 did not include any sort of written report. Every person we talked to before the appointment told us we would get a report to share with any future counselor.Because it was an out-of-pocket expense, I requested a super-bill from the billing manager. I received that and oddly enough, the super-bill contains procedure code 96132, which is for "NEUROPSYCH TESTING, RESULTS, REPORT". I called the practice back and informed them that I would like my results report because they are using a procedure code which includes a report, which I also was promised.Once the practice heard about this, they asked if they could call me back after talking to the doctor. About 20 minutes later I get a call from the billing manager asking for my insurance information to see if it's possible to bill it. (I had already checked, and the practice was not paneled with my insurance) I told them, sure, they could check. Of course, it came back that they were not covered by my insurance. So why did they want to bill to the insurance after sending me the super bill? My logic tells me that they knew they were supposed to hand out a report, but because they didn't want to put in the work, they thought they would just bill the insurance, then not do the report, and that would be the end of it and I wouldn't put up the fight. So here we are, 4 months have passed, no report, never a call back from the doctor, I have now called 5 times requesting the report, they always say it wasn't included with my payment (even though numerous people told me it was), then I argue 'then why are you using the procedure code which states report?' which then prompts the receptionist to state "oh, it does, hold on." and then they say they will have to talk to the doctor about it and get back to me, and I get no call back. This place is shady, they will absolutely take your money while putting very little effort into actual testing and not give you any results to share with other practices. They are now fighting with me over getting any data at all from my son's record which is a HIPAA violation.Procedure Code 96132 is supposed to cover :https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/view/article.aspx?articleId=57780

Never called back to see therapist at scheduled time. We have primary and secondary insurance and for some reason for both our children they always seem to have a balance. Then according to them, find out secondary insurance isn't paying, so not sure if it's just they're not billing right or maybe insurance doesn't want to pay or both, sometimes they don't build the insurance right away and there is a copay for later on of previous appointments. Other than that the psychologists working there seemed great.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving care at an outpatient rehab remain in their own homes and attend treatment as often as daily, depending on the level of need. Outpatient care generally consists of psychotherapy, addiction education, life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many outpatient treatment centers provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient services. Some outpatient rehabs also offer ambulatory medical detox and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy sessions in Michigan allow you to share responsibility with your peers in a group setting. This fosters a collective commitment to achieve sobriety and learn coping skills that are essential to improving your relationships and reducing your stress levels.

Personalized therapy sessions for drug addiction emphasize understanding your background and behavioral triggers for substance use. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create an effective coping strategy and address underlying issues that clear the way for lasting change.

During trauma therapy in Michigan, you are guided through traumatic memories within a safe and supportive environment. Your therapist then provides you with tools to process traumatic events and reduce the symptoms that occur when you're exposed to a trigger. This improves your overall mental health and ability to function in the community.

Family therapy is often recommended for family units with a member undergoing drug or alcohol rehabilitation. Family therapy helps to foster communication and conflict resolution that creates a supportive environment. This helps the loved one who is struggling with addiction.

To maintain a healthy and productive life, you need certain life skills. They help you make good decisions and build good relationships. Because they are key to long term recovery, most rehab programs in Michigan include integrated life skills training.

Procedure Code 96132 is supposed to cover : https://www.cms.gov/medicare-coverage-database/view/article.aspx?articleId=57780 ***UPDATE*** 5/1/2025 - I requested full medical records that are due me under HIPAA law, which office staff seemed to not fully understand. I thought I’d at least be able to see any diagnosis records they had kept. The office manager called and said Dr Fisher would like to speak on the phone about this. We scheduled time to have a conversation about it. A day before the phone call was scheduled they called and said they would send me a report within 2 weeks and I didn’t have to speak with the doctor. Interesting how after requesting a full medical record they suddenly are able to produce a report and some notes for me. Perhaps they had nothing in their system? Guess I’ll never know. Avoid this place, they seem either incompetent or willfully breaking the law to make more money

They have been amazing. Their testing was great. The school report for my son was so helpful for the 504 plan and the IEP. Dr. Fisher is so supportive and thorough. The care providers are just great. They have helped our family in so many ways. Their interventions have literally changed our lives for the better. Are they perfect?- no. There has been the occasional hiccup with scheduling and billing. But they apologize and fix anything that is wrong. I hold them to the same expectations I hope others have for me. People aren’t perfect. And occasionally a person makes a mistake. Give them grace and move on. The service they provide is worth any small inconvenience. Don’t hesitate to contact them for support.

Very shady business. Doesn’t follow HIPPA guidelines. Had to send an official letter stating HIPPA guidelines and give a deadline until I filed a lawsuit to get my records. Filed a complaint with BBB, attorney general of Michigan, and the office of civil rights. DO NOT go here!!!!

Do not come here. Never come here. The therapists are great but Dr.Fischer and billing will bleed you dry. Constantly billing wrong medical codes, say they'll do a payment plan, you finish it then they suddenly have more things to bill you on from that time period. Do not trust them. Do not come here. For a place with 2 billing and secretarial girls per therapist. (Like 30 girls in total and 15 therapists) they can't keep anything together. DO. NOT. TRUST. THEM. Editing to add more: They have now put a policy in place after it was agreed on I could continue to see the nurse practioner Gema even though my therapist was leaving that that starting this week no one can see them unless they're seeing a therapist in their building. Even though this wasn't a problem when numerous other doctors left, they decided to take things too personally this time. Tried asking for the owner multiple times, they never called. This place is a joke. Don't come here. Update 7/29/23 I finally spoke to doctor Fischer, the owner of the clinic who passed it to her son. Who claims 'shes just a messanger, she doesn't have anything to do with this, shell have someone contact me'. She claims she doesn't own the business but both her and her son are registered to it in the government database. For overcharging me. The same billing department that's been overcharging me and running the wrong medical codes. And she 'doesn't know what I want from them' when I told her in exact words I want the $100 you claim I owe you wiped since you've been overcharging me so we can go our seperate ways. Also, word of the wise none of the billing department is certified in medical billing so good luck.

I have to give this place 5 stars. It's not common to find someone that takes add seriously and knows there's a difference from adhd. I'm very glad that my Dr. referred me to see Dr. Fischer because I feel like from the very thorough testing, I finally have (what I feel like) an accurate diagnoses and she explained everything in detail. The care I recieved from everyone definately does not reflect their star rating.
