Supportive Psychiatric Treatment in Ludington

Treatment takes place in a comfortable office-based setting. However, if you’re not able to function successfully at work or home, you can be admitted for inpatient psychiatric care.

You’ll receive compassionate and skilled care from a team of board-certified psychiatrists. If you are struggling with a substance use disorder, these health care professionals might set you up with medication-assisted treatment (MAT). MAT is an effective way to rewire your brain to lessen cravings and help you think clearly, especially in the earlier stages of your recovery from opioid addiction or alcohol addiction.

In addition to medication, talk therapy is often really beneficial to help folks set goals and make peace with the past. I like that you can see your practitioner in person or also virtually for more convenience.

Psychiatric Testing for Missouri Residents

Corewell Health Ludington Hospital also offers psychiatric testing. This comprehensive evaluation can help provide you with a diagnosis for any emotional, developmental or behavioral disorders so you can better understand your needs and get effective treatment.

Symptoms can vary and so these specialists have customized testing processes to ensure you get the right diagnosis. Your evaluation may include your medical history, family history, bloodwork and more. During your psychiatric interview, you’ll discuss your behaviors and symptoms and how they affect your life, work, and relationships.

Different things have landed my family in the emergency room twice in the last three weeks.First, my one year-old had a Febrile seizure in the middle of the night. We were in and out quickly and received great care from both doctor and nurses. Then yesterday, I became very dehydrated from a virus. There were some other issues that led to a CT scan and blood tests. From triage to check out, I was cared for by roughly 10 people, and every single one of them was very professional, quick and kind.Thank you Ludington Hospital Emergency Staff!

Worst hospital I have ever been to, hands down. I was helping a friend in need who fell into a fence and the cut was very deep, about a quarter inch thick, and about 7 inches long. We came in while it was actively bleeding and dripping on the floor. Thankfully, they wheeled her into a room and only had to wait five minutes but put us in a room that seemed to be an old bathroom? Even the nurse told us it was called the reject room. We waited TWO HOURS to get any care whatsoever even coming out of the room three or four times to ask where the doctor was. The doctor came in and did not put on sterile gloves, and only numbed certain parts of the wound. In the middle of the stitching he had to stop to put in more numbing shots cause my friend could feel the stitches. She ended up getting 23 stitches and it s unbelievable we had to wait two hours for any help in the reject room. He quickly ended and told us he needed to go work on someone s foot. Within the next couple weeks, we were actively finding inches of string coming out of the closed wound and we were told it was dead skin when there were FIBERS on the string??? There are more instances we ve been to the hospital and not being checked on all night when trying to seek mental help. We were not allowed to make phone calls to family members and were told it was too late to make any phone call. Being put in paper clothes that were far too see-through and felt like an invasion of privacy. Another time we needed a wound mended they poured glue all over the open wound and then stuck a bandaid over it, so when we tried taking the bandaid off it opened the wound back up and started bleeding again. Oh, not to mention that was five days after getting it glued. I would ve done a better job blindfolded and intoxicated than the doctors at this place. If I could give negative stars I absolutely would.

Accepted Insurance

Corewell Health Ludington Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving care at an outpatient rehab remain in their own homes and attend treatment as often as daily, depending on the level of need. Outpatient care generally consists of psychotherapy, addiction education, life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many outpatient treatment centers provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient services. Some outpatient rehabs also offer ambulatory medical detox and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Natalie is the best nurse in the world (except maybe my mom lol), I arrived to my sleep study with a level 10 anxiety. After her kind words and reassurance that went to 1. If you have a sleep study - this is the only place to be. My highest recommendation. It was quiet, and bed even adjusted comfort settings! Natalie provided me with my new favorite mask and the bottled water was appreciated greatly 10/10 stars

Corewell Ludington Hospital is a gem in our community that it is always there in our time of need. Recently I took my mother to the ER. She was admitted to the CCU and spent 5 days there until she was discharged to a medical care facility. The level of care, compassion, professionalism of all the staff was beyond what you would hope for. Each employee no matter the position exemplifying the best of that position. It takes a collective of people to run a hospital with each truly dependent on the other. What a team you all are! Thank you is truly not enough. I appreciated each and every one of you. I wish I could remember all your names. Here are a few of the names I do remember Dr. Beeman, Dr. Marcus, Jeannetta, Nichole, Amy (discharge nurse) Scott, Jerry, Quinten, and ever as important the names I didn’t get from ER staff, Nursing, OT, PT, Dietary, Housekeeping, Janitorial/Custodial, Maintenance, Lab technicians, Phlebotomists, Pharmacy, Secretaries, CSR’s, CEO’s, Board Members and more! Even if you didn’t directly attend to the needs of my mother Myrna Smith from April 5th through April 9th, you certainly did indirectly by being a part of the team at our local gem Corewell Ludington Hospital and I thank you and may God Bless you and may your vital work continue to bless others daily.

Went in for an extremely blad nosebleed call back because I noticed I was still dripping blood. I was told that they couldn't tell me anything over the phone I would have to come, pay them again to come and check myself in when all I need to know is if it was normal for it, to still have a little bit of dripping. Coming out, but instead of giving actual good patient care, they want me to pay them to come back in there for a simple question, absolute worst

Arrived at ER at spectrum Ludington hospital approximately 3:45 on Saturday September 14 and was processed through the paperwork and sat down in an empty lobby. 10 minutes later a man called us back and asked about my husband’s injury, he cut lengthwise from bottom of first finger around to his thumb. It was very deep, I opened the cut at home and I could have put a golf ball in it. I closed it and we headed to ER. We were advised a nurse would be in soon, upon arriving the nurse was chatty and soon 15 minutes had passed of talking about car accidents, hunting etc. The doctor pocked him head in and said numb has hand, more conversation and after another 10/15 minutes nurse applied the numbing solution. More conversation, doctor came in a while after that and stitches the cut!!! They did NOT open the wound or clean it! They did NOT ask if my husband had received a tetanus shot recently and didn’t check if nerves or tendons were severed. When the doctor left he said nurse would come back, after 30 minutes of waiting my husband said let’s go, I’m tired of waiting.
