Just need to give a review of the care of an 90 yo elderly friend. He was placed in ICU for a pulmonary infection and other critical issues. Dr Beeman was the internist who managed his care. She was an incredible Dr. Very compassionate, friendly very concerned for him and us. She sat neck to him in the bed and just talked to him. Most Drs are always in such a hurry and she spent that extra few minutes that meant something! It has been about 4 weeks since he’s been discharged and he is still talking about her. Even got choked up today. The nurses, aides, food service, cleaners- everyone we encountered was amazing. Great floor staff!

The nurses at this hospital were absolutely incredible. I spent 8 days here and they had so much compassion and grace caring for me. I was going through some of the scariest and most embarrassing moments of my life and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Doctor Lee was amazing as well. Taylor D. was my therapist for almost 6 months before I moved from newaygo county and had to end our sessions. If they would have let me continue to be a patient after my move I would gladly make the hour trip to continue our sessions. She is such a REAL and relatable person. I never felt judgment from her or any of the other members of my care team. I'm thankful everyday for some of the advice and help she gave me and will carry those tools with me through life. An excellent place to go if you have an out of control addiction and need help. Or if you just fell off and need a hand getting back up.
Friendly staff, smoke breaks, ample time to socialize and work out our problems amongst ourselves... the place is amazing. And welcoming to people that return.
We can't all always get it right on the first go around. Sometimes it takes two, three, four... hell, even thirty tries. But admitting that there's a problem and working to fix it is the first step. And this place is an excellent resource if you need that kind of help.
I'm also an atheist. If you're worried about going to a church-affiliated group, don't be. They take a light touch with religion (mostly stuff in the daily readings), and try to be open to everyone. Same goes for LGBTQ+ folk: this is a safe place.

A friend of mine was ordered to go to that rehab because of being in trouble for drugs. Once talked to her significant other on the phone she was slurring her words, he then called back to talk to someone and told them to get her into the hospital something is wrong. They told him something like there wasn't any supervisors to okay it.or something like that. They thought she was faking it. For the next morning she was unresponsive and 7 days later she died from an aneurysm she never came out of a coma. She was only in her 50s this could have been prevented had they called the hospital like her boyfriend asked them to, begged them to. I sure hope they learn from this lesson unfortunately Rhonda is no longer with us. Like I said it could have been prevented. I hope the people that made the call not to call the ambulance see this and take a good look at this And know that they are responsible for her death. I only pray that this never happens again. This is criminal in my eyes.

After having a horrible experience trying to obtain my child from my ex for his therapy session, causing me to be late, and already feeling upset, and anxious after being screamed at by my ex, the therapist then gave me an attitude and scolded me for being late, in the snobbish voice " You're 10 minutes late. You're appointment was for 2:30" without asking why I was upset, crying.... I never asked for more time, I didn't demand anything. Just the time we had left. After letting her know exactly what had just happened, I had my kids promptly exit the building with me. I never returned. That behavior didn't scream safe place to me or my kids. No understanding.

When they call you to do a physical and ask your weight and usual stuff I'm pretty sure it's time to find a better source of care. Avoid the VA at all costs if possible. They didn't even know there own community care act guide lines. Your more likely to die from their treatment than be saved.
