About Hamilton Township VA Clinic

Hamilton VA Clinic offers substance use recovery in a conducive outpatient setting as part of their mental healthcare. They’re located on Quakerbridge Road near Interstate 295 and Route 1 in suburban Hamilton Township within Mercer County, New Jersey.

Their broader integrated community focused care includes primary care, social support services and dietary care. They keep costs low by accepting Tricare, Medicaid and Medicare. Addiction Recovery With Same-Day Help

Hamilton VA Clinic can help you overcome unhealthy substance use issues impacting your general wellbeing. It doesn’t matter if it’s due to past combat trauma, chronic pains or the challenges of adjusting to civilian life. They can help you take care of all issues affecting your emotional or mental wellbeing. One of their great attributes is that they provide same-day help. This ensures you get the support you need without unnecessary delays. Outpatient substance recovery in this clinic begins with a consultation and clinical evaluation.

Evaluation helps the care team determine your core needs and tailor treatment to satisfy those needs via a personalized care plan. Treatment support here involves individual and group sessions to help you address the root causes of your substance use and build strong coping and relapse prevention strategies.

Nutritional Counseling and Recovery Social Support Services

Hamilton VA Clinic offers nutritional education via group, individual and telehealth sessions to ensure you’re getting the balanced meal your body needs to stay healthy. This is important in recovery because a balanced diet supports physical healing, stabilizes mood and boosts overall wellbeing.

Proper nutrition can also help repair damage caused by substance use and improve energy levels. Their wraparound services include linkage to VA community resources that support lasting healing or sustained recovery through their social work department. These recovery support resources may include housing assistance, employment opportunities and transportation and legal aid as necessary. This is facilitated by their social workers.

I tried calling the phone number. I cannot get past all the prompts to talk to a PERSON. Remember those? I did 29 years in the US Army. I put in my SSN when asked and got a message that I am not on file. Ridiculous.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I’m up from The gulf coast, I left my depression Rx by mistake at home and thought this VA clinic could help out this 90% rated Veteran with PTSD/Depression. So I also must say I work for the Veterans Health Administration for 20 yrs and I get no help for my mental health issue! The clerk told me she would have to transfer my record to New Jersey then I’d need an appointment, It’s seems they would access remote data, have a provider write me a paper script or call a local Walgreens and help me out! This was a total failure to help a veteran in need. Luckily I found a Walgreens and through My healthy vet app I managed to contact my psychologist who called me a refill into this pharmacy. The administrator of this facility should address this issue ASAP as this should never happen to another veteran in need, especially for a mental health medication.

I've been a patient at this clinic and at it's previous location in Trenton for 18 years now. I've had the same primary physician too and I credit him, Dr Zavala, and his staff as the reason I'm still healthy, fit and active at 76 y/o. Dr. Zavala pushed me to cycle to get fit and build heart and lung strength and I've been cycling every day, year 'round, weather permitting. since. Joining the VA Health System and having my health monitored at the clinic was the best thing I did for my health since I quit smoking in 1974. If there were 10 stars I'd give the Hamilton clinic and more generally the VA Health System all 10.
