About Alana Recovery Center IOP

Anchor Hospital Outpatient Campus, located in Riverdale, Georgia, offers chemical dependency counseling and recovery programs for those with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder. Programs are for adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Anchor Hospital Outpatient Campus offers intensive outpatient rehab, dual diagnosis mental health services, and multiple forms of counseling.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a highly structured addiction treatment program that allows for a treatment-work-life balance. The program meets three to five days a week. It is most appropriate for those who do not need residential inpatient treatment, but who still need more support than traditional outpatient treatment. Anchor Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient program highlights family involvement as a critical component for this treatment plan’s success.

The outpatient program at Anchor Hospital includes 12 Step meetings, psychotherapy, coping skills, expressive therapy, relapse prevention, family sessions, and physician lectures. Shame, trauma, and grief are common group topics. All treatment plans are individualized to consider history, the addiction challenges, and what will be needed to maintain recovery upon graduation. The program can be participated in during daytime or evening hours to accommodate for a variety of schedule needs.

Ensuring the family unit understands the complexity of addiction is important. Family programming helps educate the family and provides opportunities for support. In some cases family therapy may be appropriate or even necessary for the family dynamic to heal and to support the person struggling with addiction.

Group therapy involves treatment through the process of connecting in a group setting to discuss and work through mental, emotional, and physical issues. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. The Acute Inpatient Program serves adolescents, adults and seniors experiencing a behavioral or chemical dependency crisis. The Adult Psychiatric Program provides evaluation and treatment to stabilize and treat individuals in crisis.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
he Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serves children, adolescents, adults and seniors in need of structured therapy that allows the patient to maintain a work-life balance. Flexible programming hours allow the patient to schedule 3-5 days per week that are most appropriate to meet their needs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in Georgia offers an alternative to the abrupt change of moving from intensive treatment to an unstructured home environment. Men's and women's sober living homes replicate everyday life situations, but they do so in a sober environment while also reinforcing healthy habits. This reduces the chance of relapse. Individuals who could use extra support after rehab or don't have a stable home environment can benefit from this transitional option.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency issues will be treated simultaneously while in the inpatient program. Based on an integrated assessment treatment is tailored to suit the individual patient. Patients at Anchor will have the opportunity to participate in programming that addresses both psychiatric and chemical dependency symptoms. Treatment is administered by a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals. Active family involvement in treatment is a critical component for the treatment plan.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

While cognitive behavioral therapy in Georgia is unique for each person, this therapy follows a standard structure that has proven effective. Clients first learn about their substance use disorder, then learn and practice techniques such as coping, stress management, and resilience to change their thought and behavior patterns.

While each person is unique, the typical length for dialectical behavior therapy is six months to a year. You'll attend weekly hour long individual sessions with your therapist, as well as weekly group sessions. Homework between sessions often includes keeping a diary to track your emotions and behaviors. Your therapist uses this diary to guide the focus of each session.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Men and women in Georgia may experience Motivational Interviewing techniques while undergoing individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This approach helps you explore how you feel about drug use and it strengthens your commitment to maintaining treatment. It is particularly useful in the early stages of recovery.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy has short term and long term goals. In the short term, it helps restore your health so you can recover from the physical effects of addiction. Long term, it helps you understand overall health and nutrition to set you up for a healthy lifestyle in recovery.

By incorporating recreational therapy into an addiction treatment program in Georgia, you learn to discover new interests and develop health and healthy coping mechanisms. Activities could include painting, group sports, or yoga. These encourage social interaction and support your physical fitness, which are vital factors in a successful recovery journey.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I've had two stays, both had ups and downs, but of all the mental hospitals I've been in this one is the worst, minus a few people (who I applauded on my survey). My first stay was WAY too long but I had a great doctor who got me on much needed medication, so that was good. ... Read More

Alana was the first treatment center listed on the directory of "in network" providers my insurance sent me, whilst frantically looking for help piecing my life back together. Again. So Alana was the first place I called. And wow, I actually have confidence in saying Alana will be the last recovery center I ever have to walk into. The difference here, (besides me FINALLY accepting that you literally can't beat addiction on your own) was the team behind the program. So they have options for PHP and IOP, therapists meet with you regularly, help with medications and they have housing, too if you need it. But the staff here is the best part. Every single one of them is a living example of how awesome and absolutely vital the community you surround yourself with should, and truly needs, to be. It blows my mind how the stars aligned and everything just kind of worked itself out after I said screw it, I need help and made the call. So grateful I landed where I did. Also, shout out to Cliff Taylor for all of the awesome Alumni cookouts and events n' things planned in the future that I will TOTALLY be going to! Because I actually made real friends in recovery here, and that alone speaks volumes. This review has gotten a little long, so I'll end by saying if you're feeling pretty lost and beat up by drug and alcohol addiction (I definitely was), the people at Alana can help you get turned around and pointed in the right direction, if you want it! Much love and I'll see everyone soon!

It is a good program with good learning materials. The counselors were great and I felt they did a good job of being available, especially Chris. A couple of things could certainly be improved, however. For example, the house I stayed in had very dilapidated furniture and poor interior lighting. The medicine is kept under lock and key, which can be only be unlocked by housing/behavioral techs, which is very secure, however gave me (and others) issues with getting medication on time, as the medications were only done twice a day and the times were very inconsistent. There were many times where they would come around 6 am and not come back until almost 11-12 at night, which is especially problematic for people who need medication in between. If you were sleeping when they came, you often didn't get your medication at all. Lastly, the way that Alana works with insurance companies caused me to be kicked out abruptly, nearly a month and a half earlier than I was expecting, so I had only a few days' notice to find new housing. Leaving another positive note: Cliff does a wonderful job with the alumni program, and there is a great community there. Overall, Alana is a good program, but there are some things that are certainly falling through the cracks.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
