After having a discussion with my PCP (he has been my PCP for over 20 years ), we decided I needed to meet with a psychiatrist to manage my anxiety medications. I was currently on Prozac and I would get 60 Xanax a YEAR and I would use these when I had really bad anxiety days, my anxiety has been very high as of late and no matter the tools Ive learned its been a struggle and is affecting me. In 2021 I almost died from COVID, I have 2 children that are in law enforcement here in Tampa and with our current times I just feel a little overly anxious and the sensations of the anxiety and the lump in my throat are bad! I met with Dr Lopez on Friday May16th for the first time, we had a good conversation and decided on a treatment plan of removing my current meds of Prozac and Xanax(ONLY RECEIVE 60 TABLETS A YEAR) and placing me on Klonopin taking 1/2 a pill in the am and 1/2 in the pm, I was advised by Dr Lopez to surrender my Prozac and Xanax I had remaining to the pharmacy, the pharmacy would not release the new meds until I surrendered the Xanax which was fine. I'm rocking along feeling a little groggy maybe moving at a little slower pace but feeling so much less anxious, I thought I will see how we feel once the month is up as far as being groggy and slow and then I ran out of medication, what, why what do I do now? Well I call the number provided on the pretty brochure they hand you on your first appointment only to continually leave message after message with no return calls. I call the pharmacy and by at this time now Im 4 days with no medication and my brain hurts and i'm sooooooooo sad, the crying and the inability to have quality of life is now in the hands of someplace that refuses to help me and my mental health and fill a NARCOTIC that they put me on!!!! Finally a lady was very nice to me and she kept sending me to Daisy's voicemail, apparently Daisy is support for Dr Lopez, I left messages everyday even twice a day. My Publix pharmacy was even trying to help me with no results.I get a call 6 days after having no medication from Daisy and she said I need to know why your out of medication because we give you enough to last each day until your next appointment. I told Daisy I was given 15 pills to take 1/2 each day I picked up the prescription on May 16th and ran out on May 31 taking them as prescribed and then 2 days later I finally get 15 to make it to my appointment which will be on June 20th. The day of my appointment comes and I have no more pills, once again Im feeling a little sluggish and tired but I had to start again on the pills so I don't really know how and if they are good for me yet. I go in and there are 2 ladies with VERY POOR PEOPLE SKILLS sitting behind the window and I'm told they called me to cancel my appointment and I stated no you did not and showed my phone as proof, but that doesn't even matter at this point I wonder how will I get a refill on my medication and she and her little friend beside her look at me and she said my medication is not her problem I need to schedule an appointment and I said can you please be nice I feel like you are not listening to me and understanding that I need to know what to do and again she was ignorant and treated me as if I was a drug addict looking to score. These people had control of my brain as did this whole place. I knew I had to calm down but was hurting so bad that I don't know what to do I cant control my crying so I call my doctors office and vent she cant help but she listened and for that I will never forget her!!!

Im now embarrassed to ever admit to working for BayCare. I lost two brothers and most recently my daughter tragically. I had a complete breakdown. Just felt lost and wanted to be with them. Was just ruined by hurricane Helene, lost my car, work... etc. I drank a lot more then I expected that evening. I guess sometimes we reach our breaking point.but i did NOT need to be locked away like a criminal, causing me more financial problems then I was already experiencing from the two hurricanes. I missed 5 days work being locked in that disgusting facility and now i cant pay my rent! What we do not need is to be Humiliated and treated like a criminal. What I needed was compassion empathy and most of the staff there are NOT VERY NICE. Intimidating, patronizing, however, there was a few good RNs , Techs, and discharge planners. The Dr and the physiatrists were honestly a joke! They ask you a question and cut you off when you answer. They spend maybe if you are lucky 2 minutes with you. They should be ashamed of themselves and the condition that facility is in. People need to heal with comfort, compassion, real BEDS not the hard painful prison beds in there! And why is BayCare NOT pushing daily real therapy? Exercise? Why are they not giving good nutrition? You treated me like i was a criminal. I broke down do to the awful intense pain of losing my daughter! A police officer Bakeracted me because in my painful drunkeness and despair I called him a name. You should have left me in the hospital and helped me strengthen back up! Not keep me like a criminal! Shame on you BAYCARE Update: I see your response is the same to everyone. Automated. Not real. You will hear from me again. I needed real help and you treated me like a junkie. Did you check my bloodwork before deciding to categorize me due to the statistics of your admissions? Did anyone there actually take the time and talk to me? Eye to eye, ear to ear? Heart to heart? You all just assumed i was a junkie or criminal. Maybe now you will take the time to talk and ACTUALLY hear what the patient has to share.

Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

I was referred here by my Baycare PCP... Called to make an appointment and was told they do not take my insurance....Tricare (which is military Insurance). Only a DIFFERENT TYPE of Tricar that most people don't get until they retire. What kind of "Mental Health Facility" refuses military insurance???
