Please read! Do not send your loved one here unless you want them to be able to talk the staffed Doctor into getting them back on drugs they aren’t even taking anymore. My loved one has not done opiates in over seven years and they decided to give him Suboxone (sublicate) because he “asked”. Now he is re-hooked on opiates Just by simply telling the doctor, he was an opiate addict prior to this but not a timeline of when, he was not asked.. they gave him the medication (the worst part is he asked because he WANTED to be on drugs, and by not doing their due diligence, he was prescribed it regardless of not needing it, his whole family is beside themselves). There were no drug test to show he was on opiates at all whatsoever. He had no opiates in his system at all. He has been there for about three weeks and they have not drug tested him since the first day. I actually think they have not done a drug test at all.. I know and heard stories about people having drugs inside the facility and the staff is not paying attention the way they should, patients have their personal phones from 4:30 PM to 10:30 PM which allows them to have complete access to the outside world all day long. I think we can also say that our loved ones shouldn’t have their personal phones for that long of the day when they’re trying to get off drugs and away from people, places and things. Most addicts will hold on to their old/bad friends or suppliers, past relationships that are going to keep your loved one sick and stuck in their past, asking for an easy relapse. This is a revolving door rehab 100% - they get paid by medical codes on certain prescriptions and Suboxone is an extremely expensive medication and so are the other meds hes being seeking there in the rehab facility) even though, remember, he was not an active opiate addict beforehand, (hes just homeless currently and needed a place to be safe) and they prescribed this anyways and hes nodding out all day every day. Before he went, he was on zero drugs and needed behavioral help, but THEIR ULTIMATE GOAL IS NOT to protect the patient and/or help the patient, but they are just acquiring more and more money they keep the patient’s on these prescriptions even though theyre getting re-addicted. This Is a very common way to keep drug addicts sick in Florida And has been happening for a very long time. There are facilities here that do not allow this stuff and would be way more apprehensive to prescribe medication’s and actually look at the prescription history of the patient before prescribing them something that could potentially or very likely hurt them in the long run.BUT ULTIMATELY, save yourself the heartache and choose anywhere else for your family member or loved one!!

My experience here was deeply disappointing and honestly disheartening. This facility presents itself as a place of healing and support, but what I encountered felt cold, rigid, and lacking in compassion. Recovery is an incredibly vulnerable process. People come in needing understanding, patience, and guidance—not to feel like they are being watched for mistakes or treated like a problem to manage. Unfortunately, the environment here felt more focused on rules and control than on actual care for the individual. There was a noticeable lack of empathy in how situations were handled. Instead of feeling supported through challenges—which are a normal part of recovery—I felt dismissed and unheard. It’s hard to make progress in a place where you don’t feel safe, respected, or genuinely cared about. Treatment centers should prioritize people over policies. When compassion is missing, it undermines the entire purpose of being there. I would strongly encourage anyone considering treatment to carefully evaluate whether this is the kind of environment that will truly support their recovery journey.

I did 53 days at the Hyde Park PHP and can’t thank my therapist Jackie enough. She helped me navigate thru mixed emotions and help me visualize a life in recovery. Have to give a big shout out to Tiffany as well. Took the extra time to help me understand more about myself and didn’t make me feel like a burden. All staff including BHT are good people. However the case management at this particular PHP is very incompetent. Communication with them is extremely poor and getting your needs met is close to impossible. If you don’t handle what you need handled upon admission you can forget speaking to a case manager anytime soon. They insist you submit a form and go thru the proper channels to set an appointment and they still won’t see you. I submitted at least 5-6 request and only sat with them 4 times in 53 days, two of those occasions being admission and discharge. This was a reoccurring issue amongst the clients. With the amount of money they bill your insurance daily you would think meeting with them once a week would be in the works. It’s upsetting because WhiteSands can do better. Their Plant City location is a testament of the standards they uphold. All in all the treatment you receive from clinical staff and the BHT’s is world class but you will have to advocate for your self with case management.

WhiteSands Alcohol & Drug Rehab Tampa works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs offer clients a safe, homelike environment to heal where they can reside throughout the duration of their addiction treatment program, with the benefit of 24/7 access to medical professionals and addiction specialists. Also known as an inpatient treatment program, a residential program addresses the physical and psychological causes and effects of substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders with treatment methods that integrate evidence-based clinical interventions, use of evidence-based medications, and holistic therapies.

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Hyde Park works with local detox centers that they trust to provide detoxification services to patients before they check in to Hyde Park for residential treatment. The detox center staff will ease patients off of substances of abuse, making the process as comfortable as possible and utilizing medications as needed to treat the symptoms of withdrawal. They will arrange the detox and transportation to the Hyde Park facility for following treatment.

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

Sunspire Health believes families play an important role in clients' long-term recovery. Family Program is key in helping the whole family heal and supports the loved one during and after treatment. This program helps educate families about substance use disorders and the underlying issues that their loved one is addressing. It also helps family members work on issues that affect them and their relationship with their family member.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
