About Dunwoody Health and Rehabilitation Center

Dunwoody Health and Rehabilitation Center, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is a facility under Kaiser Permanente. While this center does not offer addiction treatment services, you can get help through the greater Kaiser Permanente network, which oversees other centers that provide both inpatient care and outpatient services.

What we find most helpful are the detoxification programs to support you in your early stages of recovery through mitigating cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Sober Recreation in Atlanta, Georgia

There are a lot of ways you can fill your time while in the area on days you get treatment. There’s the Atlanta BeltLine, which is an entire network of trails for biking and walking such as the Silver Comet Trail and the Stone Mountain Trail.

These trails connect Atlanta to Stone Mountain Park where you can find even more opportunities for enrichment in the outdoors. Spending time doing casual things you enjoy can take your recovery experience to the next level as your emotional countenance improves.

Kaiser Permanente’s Inpatient Programs

If you’ve tried outpatient care and it didn’t work, inpatient programs may be a good option for you. Kaiser Permanente’s inpatient programs provide structured settings with 24/7 clinical observation. You’ll be able to sleep at the facility and participate in therapy both during the day and evening.

Detox and Outpatient Services

If you’re still dependent on substances, detoxification services may be a good place to start, through the use of safe medications to rid your body of chemicals.

Outpatient counseling sessions can help you address your mental health as it plays a role in your thoughts, choices, and substance use. This is a flexible service because it allows you to continue to attend to your life, job, and daily responsibilities while in care.

My mom was medically neglected several times throughout her stay at Perimeter. Left on a bed pan for several hours and the reason she left was in an ambulance to the emergency room after a nurse gave her insulin without checking her blood sugar AGAINST her consent. When I followed up, no blood sugar reading was documented on her chart. All of a sudden no staff were legally allowed to talk with me. They promised to follow up with my mom and failed to do so. My mom requested her medical records and they are currently denying access to the records saying she will have to come in person (currently in a physical rehabilitation center) to get them. Purposely making it more difficult to get to likely cover up the lack of documentation they have on her chart. Facility is dirty, old, and smells like urine. Nurses are rude and get an attitude when you ask for help or just ignore the call button.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Came from Tennessee to see my brother to find his face covered with something dark. It scared me because it looked like he'd been beaten up! Turns out whoever fed him never wiped his face off. That made me sick. Laziness is what it was!!! If the people that work there are so lazy, they need to find another job! I think loved ones should be notified when a new medication is given. The entire time I was there, he was sitting in a wheelchair, unmade bed and completely comatose. I spoke to him pushed on him and he didn't open his eyes at all. I know he heard me because he slightly tilted his head, but never opened his eyes. Drove all that way for shear disappointment. The family really should know what and dosage of medication is being given. My heart couldn't be more broken 💔. Not to mention his beautiful white teeth are now brown 😢.
