About Care Resource

Care Resource Community Health Centers is an integrated healthcare provider serving Broward and Miami-Dade County in South Florida. They have five centers within Miami-Dade County including this facility at Biscayne Boulevard in the Edgewater neighborhood of Midtown Miami. They offer primary medical care, infectious disease testing & prevention and behavioral healthcare like substance use recovery.

Their culturally appropriate approach to care involving multilingual support is among their core attraction. Services are available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole to accommodate their diverse network of patients. I think the best thing about them is their commitment to affordable care delivery. This makes sense because they’re a Federally Qualified Health Center. They offer sliding fee scale options that let you pay for care based on your income and family size. This ensures you won’t be denied life-saving care due to your inability to pay. This also makes care accessible to underserved and uninsured populations with limited resources to access quality healthcare.

Integrated Substance Use and Infectious Disease Treatment

Outpatient substance use recovery in Care Resources involves individual and group therapy sessions following assessment and personalized care planning. Group therapy is particularly essential as it inspires community support via peer interaction and engagement. You’ll get to practice and learn how to communicate, manage anger and solve problems. These are great sober skills that foster relapse prevention.

Family therapy is also provided to improve relationships, create positive family dynamics and strengthen your support network. Various online and in-person support groups are also available to connect you with peers in recovery. Outpatient addiction recovery in this facility may also involve intensive counseling for combined substance use and HIV-related issues. This helps folks diagnosed with HIV understand how substance use may interfere with treatment. That way they can develop effective strategies for better disease management.

Wellness & Preventive Care

Care Resources in Biscayne Boulevard offers free HIV, Hepatitis C and other STD testing. Injecting IV drugs exposes you to these infectious diseases through the sharing of needles. You can also benefit from their risk reduction counseling which focuses on minimizing infection risk.

Another way they try to protect patients is via FDA approved antiretroviral drug therapies including PrEP, PEP and DoxyPEP. They also provide linkage to care to help you connect or reconnect with life saving care using the Anti-Retroviral Treatment and Access to Services or ARTAS public health strategies. Their wellness support includes nutritional counseling to ensure you’re getting the balanced meals needed to strengthen your immune response and improve your overall wellbeing as you navigate recovery.

Recovery Support Services

Care Resources in Biscayne Boulevard offers various supportive services to ensure sustained healing and stability as you move forward. This involves housing support, transportation aids and access to primary medical care. They also offer food or nutritional assistance and employment support via a specialized initiative called individual placement and support or IPS. IPS offers tailored vocational education that makes it easy to navigate the workforce.

I am exhausted from calling for a medical appointment and they NEVER answer when you choose to call back when you answer they hang up on you it is a lack of respect I PAY VERY EXPENSIVE FOR MY MEDICAL INSURANCE so that they do not have a good logistics system in 2025 that can answer the calls. What's wrong with the administrators of this place who haven't improved this situation 50% of the opinions are false, there is terrible service here.

First, It takes existing patients 5-9 months for appointments). I went in three days ago for an "annual checkup". I've never heard of that before- usually the dentist does it at your cleaning, but this office makes you come in for an entirely separate visit. Afterwords they were supposed to send in a prescription and email my x-rays to another office. Neither was done. You can NEVER get them on the phone, communication is horrendous. Then my cap fell off this morning (probably due to the 'annual checkup'!!) Google says they open at 8, and their answering message says they open at 8. I'm calling all morning and by 8:30am and they are still not open. I contact their on-call messaging service, and they say "oh, they're probably busy". NO. Their 'office is closed' message is on.UPDATE: I went to the office as a 'walk-in', as this is an emergency procedure, and I was getting nowhere with the phones. After patiently waiting an hour and a half, I asked if I'd be seen in the next hour or two, and they said it would be another 3 hours. I told them that I wasn't waiting until after lunch because I have an important appointment that I can't miss. Horrible customer service. I will not be back; they lost a patient today.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Went to get my teeth looked out and was told to see a dental surgical specialist. They referred me to one. They didn’t provide me anything else , just to show up there. When I got to the specialist they told me I needed the X-rays from Care Resources so they know what they are working with. Why if CARE RESOURSE set up this appointment didn’t tell I needed to my X-rays or better yet! Why didn’t they sent them to the specialist?! Now I’m on hold with care Resource for 30 min to ask them to send the X-rays to the specialist. But not a single human being has picked up the phone to attend to my call! They’re the first to stand up to get a cafecito though! This is soooooo scattered and unorganized. They could have told me what I need to bring with me or given me a package to provide to the specialist THEY FOUND AND THEY SET UP! now I’m in the verge of paying out of pocket for an xray that I already did! This is government funding at its finest !!

Dear [Recipient/Administrator], I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the handling of my refill request by Dr. Wendy Kays. After submitting my request through the patient portal and receiving no response, I followed up with a phone call. During that call, I was informed by customer service that Dr. Kays had denied the authorization and would only approve it after I scheduled an appointment with her. I find this behavior to be unethical and disappointing, especially coming from a healthcare professional whose mission should be to provide solutions, not create obstacles. At no point was there an attempt to negotiate or offer a transition plan; instead, my access to essential medication was abruptly and unilaterally restricted. Such an approach fails to prioritize patient well-being and reflects a lack of empathy and responsibility. It is deeply concerning that a provider would choose to cut off access to critical medication rather than engage in direct communication or propose a reasonable course of action. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to lose trust in Care Resource as my healthcare provider, despite having relied on your services for several years. I now feel compelled to seek care elsewhere—at a center where medical professionals are truly committed to supporting their patients and ensuring continuity of care. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely,

Dr. Shari Klinger at Care Resources, Miami Beach is perhaps one of THE very best primary physicians I have ever experienced. She is a dedicated, highly intelligent professional & also kind & caring. I would walk over “hot coals” for her. 👍👏💟

. If you are someone who has health anxiety like myself, walking in to the doctors can be very overwhelming. When I say Sandra the PCA quelled all my fears and nerves, I mean it! She was legitimately so sweet, caring, and comforting. A true angel. By far the BEST health care provider I think I’ve ever come across. Thank you SANDRA at the midtown office for making me feel comfortable and welcomed. Meant more than you know!

Muy mala dental clinic !!!@Hi im a new patient here at care dental resource center and so far I felt like customer service is out of the window I waited an hour just to get in the 8 am spot so I'm very eager and nervous getting there as soon as I get in the dental department two ladies in front was so bust saying goodmorning to their fellow staff and chatting instead of acknowledging me a a patient there then the way she called for me without and friendly Ness in their voice kinda rude n I expected them to atleast make me feel safe and warm but I felt very unwanted. Their name I believe is yudisleydis and nayelis can we please teach them some customer service skills or replace them who has more experience with customer service is nor a good look for care resource especially for a transgender woman like me who is looking for a place where I can express my authentic self safely .

I am pleased with the service, staff and care. Concerns are handled as swiftly as possible. My very top thing is that because I have little to no patience, fortunately, the wait is Reasonable approximately about 30min to an hour max! Truth!!
