The absolute worst service I've ever received from a medical institution. If you can help it, please don't go here. Suck it up and drive to Dartmouth. This place shouldn't have Dartmouth in their name. Sickening.

Perhaps the worst hospital I have ever been to. After years of having my PCP swapped every other year, there inability to communicate with insurance, there lack of caring if you need and documents, its unacceptable. Switching my PCP to a better place today. The only thing they seem to be able to do just fine is swipe your credit card and send you a bill. Unless you need to go to the ER (and good luck, its worse there....) search somewhere else where you will receive care from people that care.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I do not understand why the staff of a medical center is so rude! They should have special care for each patient and an exhaustive revision of the wound, my brother fell from the stands and fractured his ankle, and after a few months we came to have the cast removed, and apa ... Read More

You can’t make this up.. they don’t even deserve the one star.. but it’s the lowest option. I made an appointment for the dreaded colonoscopy after having some.. issues.. so went in.. and got it done. I woke up to them saying I had a polyp, and they had sent it down for a biopsy and I should get the results by end of the week.. about ten days later, I get the note saying that they lost the polyp. Yes you read that right. The one thing they are supposed to do, and they couldn’t handle putting a polyp into the specimen cup. I sent them a note stating I want an explanation as to how exactly they lost it.. two days later I get a call . They proceed to tell me that the polyp ‘looked okay’ and told me not to worry as they are somehow are able to visually diagnose a bad polyp from sight. I asked again how they lost the polyp. She proceeded to tell me that it happens all the time. As sometimes they don’t get all of it. So one of them is not being truthful. I asked if that was the case, why would they tell me that it was sent for a biopsy rather than ‘we don’t get it all. She then told me that ‘that’s life’ and that I should be happy that it’s only one polyp. After many more lies that I catch her in, after her telling me that ‘that’s life’, she then tells me that her calling me is merely a ‘courtesy’ to explain this to me. You can’t even blame this on being short staff. Just plain incompetence. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here.

I just looked up reviews for Cheshire Medical Center online. Looks like Google Reviews are one of the only sites that remains beyond corporate "influence". There's something inherently wrong when Google has so many horrible reviews about a company and other sites only post reviews that sing their praises.🤨

There are some amazing people at Cheshire Medical Center. These people will go above and beyond in their patient care. However, the majority of my experiences there have been horrible, particularly since Dartmouth took over. I've moved my family's care to Peterborough and Boston. The primary care department, with the exception of a few providers, is a joke. Same with pediatrics. Lots of cynicism towards patients. Lots of not caring. You get a general feeling that it's just a paycheck. I don't know that the staff can even be blamed for this. I've never encountered anyone who was outright mean. It appears more like an issue of culture and extremely poor management. Recent lab work from my outside provider would not go through. We asked if there was another fax number or if it could be emailed and we're told no. Took the kit (they initially did not want to give me) and went home. After my doctor's office tried faxing multiple times Cheshire finally gave me another fax number. That number didn't work either. My boyfriend brought in the specimen the next day. I called ahead, found out they still hadn't received the order. Called my doctor's office again. Resend order, still nothing. Boyfriend has me on speaker and is asking the front desk staff if we can email or print out the order/bring it in. They tell him no. At this point, I'd had enough because I used to work there. I let them know that and asked them if they were still accepting paper doctor's orders from walk ins. She told me yes. I asked her what needed to be on the paperwork and indicated that my doctor's office should be able to email it to me so I could print it out. This place gas gone to hell since Dartmouth got involved. I had to go to the ER, passed Cheshire and drove straight to Peterborough because care and Monadnock Community Hospital is significantly better. Do better Cheshire. Your staff, in most departments, that I've seen, seems miserable.
