About Chicago Treatment & Counseling Center (II)

The Chicago Treatment and Counseling Center II is just one of the agency’s four treatment locations across the Chicagoland metro area in Illinois. Between them, these facilities serve over 2,000 adult clients every year, including clients outside of their geographic location.

Addiction Treatment Services in Metropolitan Chicago

Clients here can access confidential counseling services, addiction and risk education, early intervention services, and medication management for a variety of chemical addictions. Whether you’re addicted to alcohol or heroin or other opiates, you’ll be able to get the care you need through this center’s intensive outpatient program.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Chicago

MAT here is also offered on an outpatient basis to adults aged 18 and older, and is designed to stabilize clients so they can enjoy more productivity and independence. Featuring comprehensive clinical assessments, followed by a personalized treatment plan, clients will be prescribed either methadone or Suboxone, depending on their personal circumstances.

Both of these medications are used for their ability to lessen individuals’ cravings and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, while also lowering their risk of relapse in the long-term.

DUI Support in the City

For individuals who have gotten into legal trouble as a result of their alcohol or substance misuse, the center provides targeted DUI/DWI support services. Programming is provided in both English and Spanish for improved accessibility, along with what they describe as the lowest pricing you’ll find for such services in this area. This is further facilitated by supportive payment plans.

Class scheduling is extremely flexible, with options available at weekends as well as throughout the week in the morning, evening and daytime. Clients can benefit from thorough assessments, as well as educational services, early intervention, and counseling.

I NEVER write reviews on places EVER but I just can't believe how horribly I was treated when I called to simply get information about their facility. And I think if I was to ever take the time to write a review on a place THIS IS IT... So I called this place for myself and on behalf of my boyfriend. A "professional" named Austin answered the phone. Less than 30 seconds in I started with my bfs info and as soon as he heard he had government insurance I was hung up on! Called back 3 times because don't forget I was calling for myself too and I have private insurance that is taken everywhere. He wouldn't answer my 3 call backs. So I call from a different number and Austin answers the phone. I tell him who I am (the woman he just hung up on since my bfs insurance is not accepted there) and told him I have private insurance and does this facility take my insurance. And of course it does. I asked him nicer than I should have if he thought the treatment I received from him was very professional and HE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN!!!! Listen here AUSTIN. If u don't enjoy your job then QUIT! People calling for HELP and usually at their rock bottom deserve some empathy and respect. Not someone acting as though they are being bothered for doing the job they are getting paid for!!!!!!! Addiction is HARD and it's just as hard to pick up that phone to reach out for help. You are in the wrong profession buddy. The people calling u are vulnerable, broken, and desperately seaking help. For any addict to pick up that phone to call ur facility looking for help takes COURAGE AND WE DESERVE BETTER. Sorry your so miserable in your life Austin. Since I could feel your misery seaping through the phone. If this facility is any kind of reflection of you well everyone there is DOOMED. My first and hopefully last review I ever have to write. Congrats Austin!!!! U actually made someone take the time out of their day to warn others of your disrespectful miserable existence and to STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY. It looks like a hole in the wall anyway. I'll take my private insurance and go to a real treatment center who treats their patients with care, kindness, proffesionalism and empathy. Since it's because of us addicts you have a job in the first place.

I’ve been through this more than once and can say this place really helped me even if it’s not some miracle cure It took time but the staff knew what they were doing and I felt like they got what I was going through They showed me ways to keep steady when things get tough I’m grateful for that and for the second chance.

This place helped me breathe again. I was drowning for a long time, and they gave me space to find myself without pressure or judgment. The staff here just... got it. They weren’t fake nice — they were real, patient, and kind. There’s a quiet strength in how they work. It wasn’t loud or dramatic — just steady support every single day. And that’s what I needed most. Thanks

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

As someone who has actually been a client of this center, I can confidently say that what Laura Nichols wrote is completely false. I am certain she works for a competing company, which explains the misleading and exaggerated statements in her review. It’s unfair to attack a facility that truly helps people who are trying to rebuild their lives.I’ve personally received care here and experienced nothing but professionalism, kindness, and respect. The staff genuinely care about every client, and their support goes far beyond expectations. I’ve also recommended this place to several friends, and all of them were treated with the same compassion and understanding that I received. It’s disappointing to see false claims being used to discredit a team that works so hard to help people heal. Laura Nichols’s review doesn’t reflect reality — this center remains one of the few that truly care about every person who reaches out for help.
