My daughter is currently a patient at Cornerstone Healing Center in Phoenix. She had her phone taken away from her shortly after she received it back once the blackout period was over. She was falling behind in her assignments and her steps. She got caught up two weeks ago. When I spoke with her therapist (Cynthia Hernandez) she told me my daughter was doing much better and was all caught up. She should be getting her phone back soon. Cynthia also told my daughter that she was ready to get her phone back. Then another patient, in another house told her overseers that she was thinking about leaving with a male patient. Now my daughter is being treated like the one who was conspiring instead of this other woman. The day after Cynthia told her she could have her phone back, she told the overseers not to give it to her.Cynthia also told Marissa not to bother putting in her application for IOP4 because she was so far behind. Now that she's caught up and put in her application, she's being told that there isn't a bed available in IOP4 or IOP3 until May. Her discharge date is Apr 27th.On top of all of this. She has plans to start JobCorp once she completes this program. No one at Cornerstone has made the least little effort to get her in contact with JobCorp. They took her phone away and won't give her access to the internet. She can only use the house phone when she's not at the main campus and no one else is using it. I've spoken to three different people about getting her in contact with JobCorp and they tell me they're going to, but it never happens.I've sit back and let her handle this, so far. Mainly because she chose to check herself into rehab. But also because she needs to learn to take care of herself. But now I'm pissed. I'm also unemployed, which means I have plenty of time on my hands to do things like this, and spend hours on the phone with insurance companies and whoever chairs this place! If you have a choice to go anywhere else, choose the other place!

Accepted Insurance

Cornerstone Healing Center – Phoenix works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Many clients who enroll in an outpatient rehab program are exiting intensive inpatient care and no longer require such high-level clinical supervision. Outpatient programs typically follow a step-down structure, with treatment frequency and intensity decreasing as clients progress in their recovery journey. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care are the most time-intensive and are designed primarily for clients who have just left inpatient treatment or who are at an elevated risk of relapse.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs support clients' successful reintegration into their home, workplace, and community. Drug rehab aftercare presumes that recovery requires life-long support. These programs typically offer a wide variety of services customized for the clients' unique and evolving needs. Clients may receive vocational training and career counseling, housing assistance, legal aid, peer coaching, and 12 step program induction, among other services. Clients' case managers often play a lead role in rehab aftercare planning.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery and those who are exiting detox programs. It's ideal for clients in crisis or at an elevated risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and meals, allowing clients to focus on their recovery away from distractions and addiction triggers. Clients engage in intensive psychotherapy, and many inpatient programs feature recovery-focused life skills training and/or complementary therapies like meditation, creative arts therapy, and other holistic treatments.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive inpatient programs (IOP) offer high-level support for clients in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient rehabs, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically includes rigorous individual, group, and family counseling. Evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage, are widely available. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be provided. Clients in IOP receive a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week but may engage in up to 20 treatment hours weekly.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is done under the care of licensed medical professionals. Known as medically assisted detox, this level of care is typically in an inpatient setting with a team of medical experts that may include doctors, nurses, and mental health clinicians. Medications like Suboxone, methadone, or Vivitrol may be administered to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person denies their substance abuse behavior when confronted one-on-one, a drug intervention in Arizona may be necessary. An intervention may be formally planned with intervention services from a professional who can guide loved ones through this process. The intervention involves confronting someone with how their drinking or drug use has affected themselves and everyone around them and encourages them to get treatment.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a short-term alternative to inpatient treatment or a step-down option after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you'll receive 6 to 8 hours of daily support, up to 5 days a week. The duration of a partial hospitalization program can vary with the average length being 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs also offer telehealth options. PHP treatment is often covered by insurance and typically offers medication management, relapse prevention techniques, and behavioral therapy.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
The initial phase of recovery treatment typically includes 24-hour clinical care in Arizona. This constant supervision ensures a safe detox process, which helps the individual physically stabilize from substance use. Patients will receive medications to curb withdrawal symptoms and cravings, as well as other necessary medical treatment. This period typically lasts up to a week, then the individual will receive medical clearance to begin inpatient or outpatient rehab.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Telehealth in Arizona lets you speak with your health care provider online via smartphone or computer. You can call, video chat, or send messages from wherever is convenient for you, rather than seeing your provider in person.

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism and alcohol addiction, is a chronic condition that involves craving alcohol and an inability to control drinking. A person with AUD must drink greater and greater amounts of alcohol to achieve the same effects and experiences withdrawal symptoms if they stop drinking alcohol. Several evidence-based methods are available to treat AUD through alcohol rehab in Arizona. This treatment can occur on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Dual-diagnosis addiction treatment in Arizona provides integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Services may include medically assisted detox, 12-Step recovery, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare support. Addiction experts use evidence-based therapies, like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused therapy, to simultaneously address substance use and mental health disorders. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

Arizona's substance abuse treatment centers can provide tailored treatment for individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Treatment programs may include medically assisted detox, 12-Step recovery, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare support. Addiction experts employ evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and talk therapy to uncover and reframe unhelpful patterns. By graduation, you'll have developed new coping strategies, learned new stress management techniques, and have the capability of sustaining your recovery.

Treatment for addiction includes mental health services that are provided while during your stay at the facility. This may be a hospital, clinic, or a luxury treatment center setting. You receive 24-hour support and monitoring by mental health counselors and clinical staff. Most inpatient programs last 30 days, but some can last for two months or longer. Mental health is addressed during treatment via group and individual counseling, addiction education programming, and often recreational activities.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Some nicotine replacement therapy options are available over the counter. Others require a prescription from your doctor. Common forms in Arizona include nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges. Quit smoking medications are also available.

While there is no medicine to cure an eating disorder, eating disorder treatment in Arizona may include medications to address co occurring disorders such as depression or anxiety. These medications, combined with psychotherapy and nutrition education, provide the best comprehensive treatment for disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Self expression through creative arts therapy in Arizona can allow individuals who have a hard time articulating their feelings to access their emotions. This approach to counseling taps into our desire to create and draws from a variety of formats such as music, drama, sculpting, and painting.

Many holistic centers incorporate recreational therapy into addiction treatment to offer you a chance to rediscover joy in movement and motion and build social connections. Activities can include dance, group games, and yoga, which all help improve mental health, reduce stress, and develop positive lifestyle habits. These holistic approaches help sustain long term recovery.

Rational behavior therapy (RBT) is used in addiction recovery in Arizona to teach you how to recognize and modify distorted thinking patterns. I have a lot of appreciation for this program. There may be some growing pains and areas for improvement, but it's by far one of the best in the valley. Things seem to be changing and improving in a positive direction. If you're in a tough spot and the only insurance you're able to obtain is ACCESS, don't hesitate to make the call. This is your new home. They offer the full gamut of services in a clean, aesthetically pleasing environment: group therapy, one-on-one counseling, a comprehensive dietary plan, gym access, nightly meetings, transportation services, and more. From 60 to 90 days plus, they'll change your life. And even if you doubt it for a moment, just stay and be open to change, and you'll see life realign in miraculous ways. The only reason they didn't get a five-star rating is because of some questions regarding HIPAA, as well as some discordance between Operations and Clinical (but above all else, they're solid, regardless). There are a few bad apples in the bunch, but just like the clients, they'll weed themselves out when the microscope is on them. For the most part, everyone here is of high integrity. Cornerstone helped me to true and square a solid foundation. They set me up for success and reintegration back into the wild with a life I appreciate and am grateful for. My eyes were opened to the silver lining in a life that was once unmanageable by my own misdirected "self-will." If anyone asked me for a recommendation to a place for reprieve from their journey to the hellish corner of life, I'd say, "Give this place a go." P.S.: It's a mixed bag here with a variety of personalities. Not exactly a microcosm, as rehab by nature is an artificial concentration of people of a certain mentality (i.e., strong-willed, impulsive, petulant, egotistical, etc.). Add SMI and ex-cons to the mix, and some people may find the dynamic counterproductive. If you're stoic or educated from a specific socioeconomic demographic, they may paint a broad brush over you and ascribe you an archetype or persona that isn't precisely accurate, but more conveniently a stereotype. It's a tough balance between business operations and healthcare, but nonetheless, I believe this place is genuinely doing THE good work. Ultimately, the mission is to find yourself again and step forward into your new lease on life. You can do that here. Best of luck friend! Shoutouts: Nate (Director), Nate (BHT), Lacy, Jeff B, Ann, Remi, Gerald, Kyle (ChWi), Mason, James, Scott (Navigator), Robert, Lou, Night, Aaron, and Estil Wallace. You're all righteous people who played a major part in changing my life for the best, much obliged to each and every one of you... Also, big thanks to the supporting staff, most of whom I've never met. Cheers!

Hello Craig! <br><br>Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. The best in the valley is high praise and we are so grateful for it. We also appreciate your constructive feedback; it's how we improve our addiction and mental health programs. We're grateful for the recognition of the team members you mentioned – they truly are committed to the mission of supporting our clients, and it's great to hear that their efforts made a difference for you.<br><br>We also understand your feedback regarding HIPAA concerns and the operational dynamics, especially about balancing stereotypes and operations. We are always working to improve and will pass your feedback along to everyone who can help improve our program. We strive to provide the best care in a compassionate, organized, and supportive environment, and we are continually looking for ways to improve.<br><br>Thank you again for sharing your journey, and we’re so glad to have been part of it.
