About DeKalb Regional Crisis Center

Some of the addiction-related services at DeKalb Regional Crisis Center include mental health assessments, counseling, outpatient programs, inpatient detox, residential addiction treatment, and peer support services.

Mental Health Assessment and Counseling
Assessments help counselors to evaluate participants’ mental health for substance use disorder, the severity, and any co-occurring conditions. The information is used to create an individualized treatment plan, which may involve individual, group, and family counseling.

Inpatient Detox
Inpatient withdrawal management services support individuals to safely and comfortably detox from drugs and alcohol with minimal withdrawal symptoms. Following detox, participants are referred to a residential or outpatient addiction treatment program.

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Residential addiction treatment programs rely on evidence-based practices to treat addiction and mental health conditions. They offer programs for adults (18+). Treatment begins with an assessment to determine individual needs and formulate an individualized treatment plan.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Outpatient is for individuals who need addiction treatment, but don’t need 24-hour care, and is suited to adults over 18. IOP requires participants to attend treatment sessions several days a week, which includes individual and group counseling, skills development groups, and psychoeducation.

Peer Support Program
Peer support services are offered by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Certified by the state, peers can support individuals to make a recovery plan, access services, and navigate challenges in recovery.

He only reason I’m giving this place 3 stars is because of Kaleb, Victoria, Jalissa, Sarah+ and Angela. He morning shift was soooo helpful and attentive as they could be. The night shift, absolutely horrible. They don’t care about anything you need or want past midnight. The nurses will refuse your medication as well and there’s nothing you can do until thank god the morning shift arrives. It’s over populated and a little understaffed. It was constantly loud, and eventful to say the least. My only suggestion is to paint the walls with something. ANYTHING. volunteers would come in. And more activities. Board games, movie nights, trivia nights, more OUTSIDE time. I also understand keeping the men on one side and women on opposite sides. Men were coming into womens rooms randomly, Amd had to share the bathroom with the men because they kept overflowing their toilets. The custodial staff was great Amd so was the guy chef . Big portions for the most part Amd decent food. The snacks are terrible though. Maybe some Turkey spam and cheese. Or just saltines and 2 slices of cheese. So just my thoughts. I did come out 110% better than when I went in so thank you to the ones who already know. They need to be acknowledged for the amount of work I just saw in 7 DAYS. So god bless that profession. And thanks again.

I checked myself into this 'crisis center' quite a few years ago after a traumatic sexual assault that led to suicidal tendencies. They removed me from my family before I could even say goodbye. The women behind the front desk laughed as I cried. When they put me into gen pop the first words uttered from a fellow patient were "Fresh meat!" I was spoken to like a drug addict in spite of my intake interview indicating my presence was due to SA and self harm. I'm a naturally underweight woman so I'm assuming the intake employee assumed she KNEW why I was really here and just lieing. Panic attacks continued till past midnight. I was given a callous response from the night clerk. I DEMANDED a counselor and explained the true meaning for my entry. The night clerk shut up reeeaaal quick. The counselor provided was the only decent person in this facility. She heard me and set up a drug test for the morning. Low and behold, morning comes and the only thing in my system is marijuana. They realized they'd been incorrectly assuming and treating me and my outbursts as a meth addiction/detox. I was immediately released by the afternoon of the second day. The owner tried to convince me to stay saying they could help me. "From the way your staff made assumptions about me and subsequently mistreated me, this place can help me in NO WAY." They allowed me to leave in spite of signing away my rights to them the previous day. I'd already been seeing a therapist at the Winnway Mental Health Center across the street and submitted a printed complaint THREE SEPARATE TIMES THROUGH MY REGULAR THERAPIST! EVERY TIME THE COMPLAINTS COINCIDENCELY WENT MISSING. I later began attending meetings at the Dekalb Rape Crisis Center. The head counselor, Claudia, told me I was the THIRD woman to come to her claiming they were treated the same way by this so called crisis center. Bottom line: ALL PATIENTS WILL BE TREATED AS ADDICTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS FOR TREATMENT! They need to be honest and properly label themselves as a detox center. They have no business 'caring' for anyone in a crisis.

I brought a family member in for fentanyl detox. This person has a serious addiction and needed treatment desperately. After being there for 5 1/2 hours, my loved one is finally seen and turned away saying they would give us some resources to call. Frustrated and upset does not even begin to describe how I feel about this place.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

DeKalb Regional Crisis Center works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Staff needs to be more impartial when it comes to attending patients because I think everyone should get the same quality of help. They could improve in the organization and that would allow them to help more effectively. Anyway, thanks for making me understand that if I wan ... Read More
