About Grand Lake Mental Health Center

Grand Lake Mental Health Center is an alcohol and drug rehab in Claremore, Oklahoma, providing care for adults, youth, and children. They have intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and outpatient care for dual diagnosis, alcohol, drug, opioid, and gambling disorders. Clients benefit from specialized programs for children, adolescents, court-ordered individuals, pregnant women, and Veterans. Peer support groups and medication assisted treatment (MAT) are also available.

Individuals seeking in depth treatment while living at home and caring for responsibilities can attend their 12-week IOP. They offer evidence based group, individual, and family therapy, integrating the Living in Balance, Matrix Model, and Community Reinforcement Approach programming. Clients can also access peer support, case management, virtual services, and crisis assistance.

Choosing outpatient care allows people to live at home while participating in treatment. They offer various outpatient programs for individuals, parents, and adolescents in their journey toward recovery. Their Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) program targets youth and young adults aged 13-25, while their parenting program helps parents achieve sobriety and repair relationships.

Addiction specialists use MAT to help clients with opioid addictions manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms to succeed in recovery. Clients in this program receive medications like suboxone while participating in behavioral therapy.

Grand Lake Mental Health Center accepts major insurance companies, including SoonerCare, HealthChoice/PSI, Medicaid, BlueCross BlueShield, Beacon, Humana, and Medicare, to offset treatment costs. Out of network benefits generally differ, so verify your insurance with your provider for exact coverage.

If I had the option to give a zero star review, I absolutely would. This has been the worst experience I have ever had in healthcare.

Earlier in the year insurance required that I change my current care team to a maintenance treatment plan. I was okay with it since my amazing treatment team and medications had me in a really good place. My new team leader reached out to me this past March, then came radio silence. My lab appointment & med review came and went.Still no phone call or text.I called the 2nd week in November requesting a new care team, it was explained to me it was a process, again I was okay withIt. It is now the 2nd week in December and again radio silence.I feel somewhat abandoned by Grand.

Accepted Insurance

Grand Lake Mental Health Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide extra support for clients in early recovery and those at a high risk of relapse. They allow clients to focus on their sobriety safe from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, where they receive extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs also offer robust life skills training and holistic therapies, such as meditation.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients participating in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) receive frequent, high-level care while living at home. Many enter intensive outpatient treatment immediately after leaving inpatient rehab, but some transition directly from detox into IOP. Treatment generally involves nine to 20 therapeutic hours per week and a combination of addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and evidence-based complementary care. Many outpatient rehabs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients with alcohol and/or opioid addiction.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Each sober living home in Oklahoma is a substance-free environment where residents can get support from others who are in recovery. Intensive treatment is not provided, but recovery meeting attendance is typically required. Residents must also maintain household duties and pay rent. There is no time limit for how long residents can stay, as long as they continue to abide by the established halfway house rules.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Oklahoma can be an effective tool for a loved one who's struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Intervention services include trained interventionists to help families plan and carry out an intervention with their loved one. It is often helpful to involve a non-partial expert in this highly emotional process. The interventionist provides expert insight and can recommend the best course of treatment for the individual and family.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is ideal for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option after hospital or residential care. During a partial hospitalization program, you'll engage in daily therapeutic services for a minimum of 20 hours a week with the ability to return home. The cost of a partial hospitalization program can vary but is often covered by providers.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Oklahoma is highly recommended for those beginning recovery. As your body detoxes, withdrawal from substances such as alcohol, benzos, and opiates can cause severe physical symptoms. Health risks include seizures, hallucinations, heart palpitations, and severe dehydration. A clinical setting offers 24/7 medical care to treat these symptoms and make the detox process more comfortable.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body after you've become physically dependent is through a medically assisted detox. Usually performed in an inpatient setting, a team of licensed medical professionals are tasked with monitoring your health and helping to minimize the risks and physical discomfort caused by withdrawal symptoms. Medically assisted detox is often the first step in the recovery process. After your body is safely free of substances, you'll likely transition to an inpatient treatment program to continue your recovery.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I had to give this some kind of star in order to write a review. Never bring your child here or yourself for serious mental illnesses. This is all an entire joke to them. The receptionist are the only good to come from the grand. Even they say these people want yall here when they say but don't want to help anyone in the lobby they leave people Gere to sit until they get fed up and leave. If you can help it never come here.

I have 3 chances to make things right... I'm literally sick to my stomach the lack of care or effort this entire facility put into helping my son. I have left the facility with more confusion, anger, frustration and sense of helplessness then I had when I came to Grand for help. NEVER recommending and forever telling EVERYONE to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I ve been coming here 8 years. At first things was okay. Then they changed up the company. They stopped caring about the patients. Then most of the good people who cared, left the company. The people that stayed can t do their jobs correctly due to new procedures that force less time with clients, less funds for clients needs, more funneled into the pocket of the main CEO with a 7 figure salary wow. Yes 7 figures.Their version of inpatient can be very abusive depending on the location. And not safe by any means. Wait times for a scheduled appointment can be an hour long. But if you are 5-10 minutes late they will not let you do your appointment. For some reason I had to remind staff of a medication I take and had been, for 5 months before sorted out. Only a few good therapy teams that have way too heavy case loads. And the waiting room can be a chair throwing disaster area at times. Communication between all staff members from upper to lower staff is non existent which hurts us patients more than they know.Peer support is a cool idea but some of them are just as unhinged as the people throwing chairs in the waiting room.

This place is awful. I didn’t even make it through all the intake appointments because of lack of communication on their part and randomly cancelling and rescheduling appointments without even talking to me. If I could rate it a zero I would. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

RANT FOR TODAY: I AM A CURRENT CLIENT AT THIS FACILITY GLMHC, CLAREMORE AND I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY THAT I COULD SPIT NAILS. I HAVE BEEN LEAD TO BELIEVE THINGS THAT SIMPLY ARE NOT TRUE THEY JUST MAKE THEMSELVES SOUND GOOD TO PEOPL;E, I HAVE BEEN OVER LOOKED IN MY CARE WITHIN THE LAST YEAR BY BEING MOVED AROUND LIKE APIECE OF OFFICE FURNITURE BETWEEN THERAPITS TEAMS (4 IN THE LAST YEAR TO BE CORRECT) WITH OUT AS MUCH AS A THOUGHT TO ASK ME HOW I THOUGHT THIS WAS AFFECTING MY MENTAL STATE, I HAVE DONE WITHOUT NURSE VISITS, DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, AND MEDS BECAUSE OF POOR COMMUNICATION BY THE STAFF INVOLVED AND THE BOSSES, I HAVE HAD TREATEMNT PLANS FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS THAT HAS CAUSE DELAYS AND STOPPAGE OF SERVICES DUE TO; AS IT HAS BEEN TOLD TO ME, THAT THE WRONG PAPERWORK WAS FILED, THE PAPERWORK BY STAFF WASN'T FILED PROPPERLY, OR SIMPLY THE APPOINTMENT WAS OVERLOOKED IN THE SCHEDULE. IN FACR MY LAST TPU WAS OVERLOOKED AND I WAS IN DANGER OF MISSING SERVICES AGAIN UNTIL IT WAS CAUGHT AND SCHEDULED BY MY WONDERFUL CASE-MANAGER BELINDA BUT THE APPOINTMENT THAT WAS SCHEDULED WAS OVERLOOKED BY THE PERSON OR DEPARTMENT THAT WAS TO DO IT AND WHEN I NOTIFIED MY CASE MANAGER SHE DID RESEARCH AND MANAGED TO GET IT DONE WITH SOME ONE BUT IT WAS FROM 4 TO 5:30 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE MY DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN DONE THEN I WOULD HAVE HAD TO START ALL OVER BECAUSE EVEN THE GRACE PERIOD FOR THE TPU WOULD HAVE EXPIRED. IT SHOULD NEVER BE THE CLIENTS RESPOSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PAPERWORK IS FILED RIGHT, THAT APPOINTMENTS ARE KEPT BY STAFF, OR THAT ALL THE CLIENT SERVICES ARE BEING DONE CORRECTLY, TIMELY, AND / OR IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CLIENT. IF IT IS MY RESPONISIBLY THATN PLEASE SHARE SOME OF THOSE FEDERAL DOLLARS YOU GET WITH THE CLIENTS FOR DOING HAVE YOUR WORK. SINCE THIS FACILITY MOVED TO THIER NEW SURROUNDINGS THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT GOTTEN TOO BIG FOR THIER BRITCHES AND THE CLIENTS ARE THE ONE'S SUFFERING FOR IT. WE HAVE BECOME A FEDERAL DOLLAR SIGN AND AS LONG AS THEY CAN PRODUCE US AS CLIENTS, THE FEDERAL DOLLARS FLOW IN, BE DAMNED WITH THE QUALITY OF CARE THOSE CLIENTS ARE ACTUALLY RECIVEING FOR THOSE FEDERAL DOLLARS AND THE PAYCHECKS FOR WHICH IT PAYS. IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE OF ANY KIND FOR YOURSELF OR A MINOR PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE GO ANYWHERE BUT GRAND LAKE MENTAL HEALTH FACILITIES. DON'T GET ME WRONG THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FACILITY BOTH PAST AND PRESENT BUT THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY BAD APPLES IN CHARGE THAT ARE SPOILING THE ORCHARD TO ALLOW THE GOOD ONES TO DO ENOUGH GOOD. I HAVE FILED WRITTTEN GRIEVIANCES AND HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE ABOUT WHAT IF ANYTHING WAS BEING DONE. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 1 IN FACE MEETING WITH A BOSS THERE AND WAS TOLD WHAT SHE THOUGHT I NEEDED TO HEAR, IT SOUND LIKE SMOKE UP MY BEHIND AND NOTHING CHANGED. I STAYED BECAUSE I SEEM TO NOT BE ABELE TO FIND ANYWHERE ELSE UNLESS I TRAVEL SEVERAL MILES FOR TREATMENT AND WITH BEING A SOONER-RIDE RECIEPIANT TO GET TO AND FROM MY DOCTORS IT IS HARD TO DO THAT. SINCE I FELT I HAD NO OTHER RECOURSE TO GET HEARD AND MAYBE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS CLINIC I DECIDED THIS PLATFORM. OH. AND I AM ALSO POSTING TO FACEBOOK. BOTTOM LINE DO NOT COUNT ON OR EXPECT ANYTHING FROM GRAND LAKE MENTAL HEALTH THAT DOES NOT 1ST HELP THEMSELVES LOOK AND SOUND GOOD TO THE OUT SID WORLD AND THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS. MAY BE IF THEY WERE EXTENSIVELY AUDITED AND CLIENTS WERE INVOLVED IN THESE AUDITS OF SERVICE MAYBE THINGS WOULD CHANGE IT THEY BELIEVE THAT THEIR FEDERAL GOOSE IS NOT GOING TO LAY THEM THE GOLDEN EGGS SO MUCH AND THE HIGHER UPS THINK THAT THIER GOING TO HAVE TO TALKE A CUT IN PAY.
