I don’t know what to say. I’ve never put my son in a rehabilitation center, and I chose this facility because of the reviews. The communication was horrible. I had to demand updates from my son’s therapist, and the doctor never called me back when I asked for a doctor to call me regarding Sean’s medication management and diagnosis. I was the one who dropped him off at the rehabilitation center by myself and visited him every weekend—four hours there and four hours back. I had an emergency hearing on the day Shaun was supposed to be picked up from the facility and told them I was going to be a couple of hours late but didn’t know the exact time. She said that she was going to contact his father, and I told her not to. Lenny is the case manager, who is very disrespectful, abrupt, and completely undermined me when she said, “I’ll call his father to pick him up.” I told her specifically no because Sean didn’t want him visiting because he was doing drugs in his care, and he didn’t help me take him to rehab when he went on vacation. I called her yesterday and asked for the doctor, and I told her that was not acceptable, that there was a court order stating that I would be picking him up. I had tiebreaking authority for medical, and she completely dismissed me and made the decision to do it anyway without giving me a heads up. The day my son was admitted, there was a sewage leak in the facility, and they were stuck in a hotel for three days. That was completely out of their control, but that was three days that my son didn’t have therapy—three days that he didn’t get the care that he needed. The only time they contacted me regarding medication is when they wanted something for sleep. My son had a terrible cold, and he wanted to stay in bed, and they made him still participate in all the activities. I asked for specific medication to give him, and they would not give it to him. In addition, when I was dropping off clothes, they would never check them right away, sometimes taking weeks and weeks. I’m extremely disappointed at the communication and the care that I received when Sean was in their care. I do not recommend this facility.

This place is actually amazing I went here for treatment and it was one of the best things to happen to me I’m over 300 days sober because the amazing staff taught me a lot of important information on why drugs don’t always work in your favor. One of my main reasons for staying sober if my favorite staff there Adam Schaffer any time I needed to talk to him or get something off my chest he was always there to talk and is just a straight forward person who gets what people go through and is just very sympathetic and again thank you too all the staff for my amazing stay

Guardian Recovery – Montville Adolescent Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in New Jersey provides a setting where you can withdraw from alcohol or drugs under close monitoring of experienced medical staff. These trained professionals can intervene at any time if needed. They can prescribe medications to reduce cravings and physical discomfort. Mental health professionals are also available to address any emotional and psychological challenges you experience as you begin your recovery journey.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients often enter inpatient rehab following detox, but they may also enroll during early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient rehabs provide housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment. Clients typically receive multiple individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions weekly. Many programs also offer extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training. Integrative inpatient rehabs provide holistic therapies as well.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients who are exiting inpatient rehab, those who are experiencing crisis, and those who prefer to live at home while in treatment typically enroll in intensive inpatient programs (IOP). These programs feature frequent and robust care, generally requiring clients to participate in at least nine hours of care weekly, though many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 treatment hours per week. IOP services typically combine individual, group, and family counseling with recovery education and holistic therapies.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
A medical detox is the safest way to wean your body off addictive substances. When you become physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, quitting abruptly can cause a host of challenging and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will be on hand to monitor any symptoms, to provide medication if possible, and to help keep you as safe and as comfortable as possible throughout this process.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Telehealth is a real-time communication between you and your physician via telecommunications equipment. This might involve a video call, phone call, or medical app. It may also include the transmission of medical information via sharing technology.

Treatments

Alcoholism (alcohol use disorder) is diagnosed when a person's drinking causes harm or distress and they continue to drink anyway. Often, they have a physical as well as psychological dependence on the substance. To treat alcohol addiction, medical detox is often necessary to safely withdraw from alcohol. Once this is complete, alcohol rehab in New Jersey can provide skills and supports necessary for long-term recovery.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse
opium iconOpioid Addiction

You can find comprehensive substance abuse treatment in New Jersey in drug and alcohol rehabs. These treatment programs typically provide a full continuum of care including medically assisted detox, inpatient, outpatient, dual-diagnosis, and intensive outpatient. With a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation, addiction experts provide individualized treatment plans to meet your specific needs. These programs address substance use disorders using evidence-based therapies, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), individual and family counseling, and recovery support groups.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New Jersey typically follows a set structure of treatment. The therapist helps clients identify their life challenges and their thoughts surrounding those challenges. The client then learns to identify unhealthy thought patterns and reshape those into healthy patterns of thinking and behavior.

The main types of creative arts therapy in New Jersey are dance, art, drama, and music. Through creative processes and active art making, this treatment provides a safe setting free of judgment for participants to explore and express their challenging thoughts and emotions.

Dialectical means opposing. The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is to learn how two things that seem to be opposite can actually be true. You learn how to accept yourself while also making changes. The focus is on accepting your emotions and changing how you manage them.

Experiential therapy is designed to help you access creativity and analyze your motivations, emotions, and reactions to situations. With the help of your therapist, you'll reflect on your experiences to work through previous hurts or trauma and learn how to make good decisions in the future.

Family therapy sessions address addiction related conflicts and other issues between members of the family unit. By strengthening communication and coping skills, as well as creating a nurturing environment, the family can help support their loved one's recovery.

Group therapy settings offer you a diverse perspective on addiction and recovery. People from a variety of backgrounds gather together to discuss their challenges and speak openly and in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. This enriches your experience and your understanding of addiction and recovery.

During individual therapy for drug addiction, patients receive a customized and tailored approach to understanding their unique circumstances and providing them with targeted interventions. These include coping skills, relapse prevention plans, and developing resilience, all of which are essential for long term recovery.

Building life skills allows you to demolish negative patterns of behavior and build new, healthy patterns. By building new thought processes, coping strategies, and behaviors, you establish a solid foundation for recovery.

Motivational interviewing helps clients find their motivation to change. It can be an effective method to work with clients who are angry or hostile or feel insecure about their ability to make changes in their lives. It is often used during addiction treatment or to manage physical health conditions.

Recreational therapy is a dynamic approach to addiction treatment in New Jersey. It integrates activities like music therapy, team sports, and gardening so you have a therapeutic outlet for your emotions and stress. This improves your physical and mental health and helps you develop new skills to support a sober lifestyle.

transcranial iconTranscranial Magnetic Stimulation

Trauma therapy provides a structure to approach healing from past traumatic events that you may have witnessed or experienced. Your therapist will work with you to identify and process these memories. This helps promote a sense of safety and stability and helps you heal emotionally.

They wanted me to take home my son after only a few days. Before we went they said not to worry about saying and they would accept insurance and not charge me. Now months later they keep sending me bills and adding on more charges. Between insurance and me almost 4000 for 3 days??? Do not go here.

This is not a center that helps teens with mental health. Nor medication management. The rehab program and content is not appropriate for teens as they are to immature and the program is beyond their comprehension , The director Frank loves the sound of his own voice more than helping kids. He is horribly mean and stated that if my depressed kid could eat breakfast he should be able to attend 7 hours of rehab classes. My kid has ADD, OCD and LD for which they provided no meds for 16 days. He had meds that I provided and they did not give it to him. My teens medication was mismanaged multiple times and my son was given sleep meds that I did not authorize and made him unable to function and more depressed. He came in with primary suicidal ideation and left in worse shape, they did not give him appropriate care for several days. Some days they gave him nothing at all. Very disorganized tha t I had to call daily to check in as I was terrified for him. While my kid had previous marijuana issues he was sober for 59 days and I clearly stated that he needed focus on medication management and mental health as this is what we now needed to stabilize. It was high priority since he was suicidal. They lied and said they would do this and or both. They had few patients 4 total and could not handle either. The place is clean and the weekend staff were very kind as were the therapists. But, when your kid has mental illness, can’t get out of bed and are treated with the wrong meds it was beyond unprofessional. They provided no help and forced him to attend rehab classes when he could barely stay awake or function. They do not encourage kids to attend school. When I inquired about his academic set up or lack there of 5 days after his admission they threatened to discharge him, for not participating in group. At that time a doc did not f/u to speak about a treatment plan nor did a therapist. This threat of discharge was provided by an unlicensed former drug addict whose job was to set up an IOP. They provide no tutoring like they say. The NP also threatened my kid with a transfer from 90 days to a psych ward if he did not start to attend all rehab classes. Which made my son anxious and terrified. It was a disappointing and upsetting waste of time and money. They are out of network and sold me garbage. I am considering options for damages incurred. As he is still suicidal and was not examined for other likely diagnoses and so we did not get anything of what was promised. This place is negligent and despicable.

Guardian team - starting with Melissa and Adam, and throughout your entire support staff, including the very friendly kitchen staff who fed us well when we visited our daughter, thank you for the genuine care you demonstrated everyday. This is a tough situation for all of us, and we unfortunately have experienced other facilities, and none are on this level in the way you approach caring for our children. I highly recommend parents do their homework and trust Guardian. Thank you Guardian!
