I was very thankful for receiving high quality care from this mental hospital. I'm very proud that the staff, the doctors, nurses and even patients I was with were all excepting and understanding that mental health is somthing that should always be taken seriously. Thank you so much for your service. I definitely recommend this place to anyone out there that is struggling with mental health issues.

I love this place! Literally the best mental health help I ve ever had inpatient! Nobody batted an eye at how many times I ve been inpatient, and I was treated with respect the whole time. Yes the stay is long, but that s policy for most mental hospitals. Jen was rude, but the rest of the staff were lovely, especially Michelle the activities director.

I stayed here for about a week and I want to leave a review because there is a lot of stigma about mental health hospitals. This wasn't my first time in a psych ward, but it was one of my longer stays.Pros: the staff that did care was absolutely incredible. Brandy was my psych and I absolutely loved her. She was super honest about my situation and very understanding. Lily the night pca was so incredible as well. Kenneth was one of the therapists and he was so real and astounding. Shannon a pca was really sweet and understanding. If you didn't like the food you could get substitions. You had access to flavor water at all times. They had two TVs in Sunrise Springs so if you didn't like what they had to offer, you could go to the other side. You had access to a gym, and a library. And music therapy was really awesome! I also want to say the kitchen staff was really incredible, they really went above and beyond.Cons: when my husband was visiting I was told I basically wasn't allowed to touch him. The communication between the staff and my husband was horrible, but it seemed that was just an issue between management and the staff as well. So if the pca's or therapists didn't know what was going on, we also didn't know what was going on. So much poor communication. There were pca's who were clearly just there for a paycheck. They were so unprofessional and mean to the patients. Like straight rude as f***. They treated us like garbage they had to watch. When I came in, I came in at 730 at night. I didn't get back to the ward until 1130. I didn't get to bed until midnight, a woman came in at 6am to get my blood. She was the rudest person there. I absolutely did not like her. She didn't treat me like I was human, and unfortunately as much as there was good staff. There were just equally bad staff. Everyone there was constantly on their phone, which is just so unprofessional in my mind. There was only two phones, and it was the hunger games trying to get one to call your loved ones. The staff did not monitor phone time, and you had to ask multiple times to get them to do something. The facility is dirty. There was mildew in the showers. My pillow case had a blood stain, and they only change the linens where a new person arrives. Nobody sanitized anything there. They mopped and did the basics, but you could still tell it was dusty, and gross. Masks for sick patients were not enforced. Which as someone who has a husband with an autoimmune disease made me so scared I was gonna bring something home.Overall, this wasn't the worse pysch hospital I've been at. But it's not a hotel, the groups were amazing and I really liked the big sense of community between patients. I just wish communication was better, and the facility was cleaner. For 950 a day I just feel like they can do better!

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves clearing your body of drugs and/or alcohol under the 24/7 care of licensed medical professionals. If you've become dependent on alcohol or drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids), quitting abruptly can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. The purpose of medically assisted detox is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be provided if necessary to mitigate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Treated my girlfriend like a sub human. Calling her slurs, saying she would never be a woman, withheld her medications, using deadname, called her many slurs. Didn’t believe her when she was saying she thought she was dying, told her to take a nap, she had to be transported to a hospital down the road as she was in DKA from her diabetes, about to die. If you love your human, if you love your partner, or your child, whoever, dont bring them here.

Ofc wasn't happy about going and having had one other impatient stay at north coast I was terrified and honestly was very surprised. Going from a state run facility to one private insurance paid for was a step up. The fact you get to move about the building (meals, gym, etc) versus being solely stuck to your unit was nice, the food was better than typical hospital food. My only complaint is the night time snacks. There would be times people wouldn't get anything or any extra would be preyed upon quickly even with a diabetic on the unit. I think maybe a fridge or snack basket behind nurses station where they have to come up and ask and prevent people from going without. Overall good experience and to a certain extent it's more our responsibility as patients to help ourselves as much or more than our healthcare team. We can only be helped as much as we let ourselves be helped. If I have a crisis again (hopefully not) I have my support people prepared to take me to HS.

I was inpatient here last year and I enjoyed my stay. They made accommodations for me. I made a lot of friends here and I enjoyed the groups. I also learned a lot. This is my second time taking php and I enjoy it. Allie is wonderful. I will be starting iop here on the 6th of December and I’m excited to learn more and better myself. Highly recommend this place! The food was okay. Not the worst not the best. The staff was okay. Some were rude and some weren’t. But overall I enjoyed it here and if I ever need help again I’ll come back.

I've been here twice this year and I absolutely hate it. They keep you way too long with the excuse that they want to make sure you're ok. They're quite demanding about group attendance, only for the group facilitator to not control the discussion and avoid off-topic banter and rambling patients. I wish there was a way to tell the emergency room employees not to send me there when I'm in a crisis. I understand they have to utilize availability but honestly I'd be healthier at home. Highland Springs doesn't listen to me when I try to explain what I need.
