About Homeward Bound

Known for its legendary cowboy culture, Dallas, Texas is where you’ll find Homeward Bound. They’re one of Texas’s oldest and largest behavioral health agencies. Their programs have helped over 250,000 people reach recovery over the course of 45 years and counting. You can access outpatient substance abuse and mental health care here to start or continue your journey.

They serve all clients here regardless of finances. You can use private or public insurance including BlueCross BlueShield, Amerigroup and Medicaid. They also provide discounts based on income and family size for vital services if you don’t have insurance.

They offer expert backed outpatient approaches including addiction education and counseling as well as peer support and an introduction to 12 step programs.

Dallas Deflects Program

What strikes me most is their Dallas Deflects program. This track provides recovery services to divert people with low level, nonviolent misdemeanor offenses to treatment instead of jail. You can access trauma informed care, including a personalized case management and discharge plan. You’ll benefit from a second chance to get your life on track and prevent future offenses.

Medication Assisted Treatment

Another great feature I noticed was their medication assisted treatment program. You can access FDA approved medications like Suboxone and Subutex to ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings. This can create a solid foundation to focus solely on getting to the root of addiction.

Positive Client Experiences

Many former clients expressed satisfaction with their services. Some praised their helpful, compassionate staff and appreciated the various options for customized care. Recovery is a unique experience though so be sure to research and consider multiple facilities to find the best fit.

Ethics of staff sub par. If you want an experience that is closest to jail then you've reached the right place. You're more of an inmate than a client.Kudos to Nurse Evelyn.Detox unit smells like urine, vomit, and feces.Food is donated and is often expired or served well past best buy date. Clients are required to clean their own tables among to do other things most facilities do not require. Some cafeteria staff is rude except for the lady in wheelchair.Beware. This company is not BBB Accredited. If reviews are given, they would be atrocious. If you have other options please explore those prior to coming. This is a last resort! State should visit them quite often and should lose certain funding if they cannot adhere to the standards and ethics of most rehab facilities. Clients cannot focus on sobriety things are chaotic.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Linden Oaks' Residential Stay Program offers additional support for those who may benefit from a structured living environment. A patient's stay may vary from a few days to 30 days ago. The program includes group, family and individual counseling.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Linden Oak's Addiction Services unit is a separate area within Linden Oaks Hospital that offers treatment for those undergoing withdrawal as they stop the cycle of addiction. Patients are detoxified under the care of a psychiatrist, and their staff has specialized training to provide the medication, monitoring and support needed during the withdrawal process.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Peer support is an important aspect of group therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction. As you and your peers share stories and encourage each other, it fosters a sense of community and belonging that helps you process your feelings and reduces the sense of isolation that is associated with addiction.

Individual therapy offers you a confidential space to address the complexities of your drug or alcohol addiction. Your therapist guides these personalized sessions to help develop self awareness and manage stress. This promotes sustained sobriety and overall well being.

Therapy sessions that incorporate motivational interviewing focus on OARS: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. This facilitates an exchange of information and an empowering of the client to decide for themselves what changes might need to be made in their lives.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

I've been to Homeward Bound twice. Once last year and once just recently. I would HIGHLY suggest the detox program to anyone suffering from alcohol abuse/withdrawals and any kind of drug abuse/withdrawals. The staff are really good at caring for the patients and taking care of the patients needs. They all see the patients as human beings that are in immediate clinical needs and as human beings. Not just another person off of the streets. My experiences there were very beneficial to my alcohol withdrawals. If you are looking for a completely different life Himeward Bound is DEFINITELY a very positive step in the right direction.

I honestly always got more from here than from Nexus. I am glad that someone called the Dallas 24 hr club after my last stay here. I had been ready to quit drinking every since I left my mom's and stopped talking to my crazy x. 2016 I was at the old place three times. I am sober because of that person calling the 24.
