About Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital

Both programs support you wherever you are in recovery. If you need a stable, supportive environment to live in and focus on sobriety, their inpatient program provides this. Their outpatient program offers a lower level of care if you live at home while in treatment. You’ll have access to trauma informed care, including therapy, family interventions, peer support, and discharge planning.

One notable feature that stands out to me is they have a specialized opioid program. People battling opioid addiction can benefit from medication assisted treatment coupled with therapy. They may prescribe medications, like Suboxone or Methadone, to help you manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings. They’ll complement treatment with behavioral interventions so you can work on the underlying challenges contributing to addiction and reach long term recovery.

Jackson south behavioral hospital is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever visited. Nobody needs to come to this hospital for mental health, they just drug you & act like you’re crazy so they can keep you in there longer. I hope someone files a lawsuit against them, it isn’t right the way they treat people in there. I dont wish this upon no one. They don’t run their policies correctly or lawfully. They lie. Their ignorance of reality is the problem only because they don’t have their own family members in there suffering. Please do not bring family members to this facility.

I have been in-and-out of over 20 psychiatric facilities for a little over 2 years for severe mental health. I have been to this place a couple of times, and it is the ONLY one that has helped me and stabilized me when I was suicidal. The doctors actually care and they prescribed me a life-changing medication and I have been doing great ever since. They have groups all day everyday and some of them are expressive with art. The backyard is very big and it has real grass with trees and you can get sunlight. They are not very strict and make the experience enjoyable. The techs are very nice, laid back and funny. The only ''bad'' part about this place is that the paper scrubs are very uncomfortable and the lack of privacy, but this is understandable since it is a psych unit. Overall, this is a good place for crisis stabilization and it helped me a lot over the couple days I was there!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

My son was taken to Jackson during the stay he was with an amazing Dr and Female nurses. They had no problem and told me he was ok with his medications. Then here comes a male nurse. Power!!! I am positive that he confronted my son who is Angry depressed and is hearing voices with a bad attitude and my son punched him. What he should have done is approached him with other nurses. Mental hospital drug patients and the facilities are all horrible. Palmetto hospital mental closed. They used to make fun of the patients I just called on Saturday to speak to someone in ABC 2 and a Nurse by the name of Anthony answered. very rude he needs medication to agitated to be working with kids that need love Your answer was im sorry we will anything for future. Thats all the hospital says. these mental hospital are over medicating young men and woman and most of all the staff doesnt even know the situation of the patient thats a big no no they assault patients here. My son was assaulted by the nurse Anthony Diaz and the hospital does nothing about it. I would like for Jackson to stop sending my home letters of apologies. There are no cameras in the rooms and when I visited the hospital my son was drooling in saliva of how medicated he was. The problem with these mental behavioral hospitals is that it has turned into a business your hospital has been sued more then 188 times due to over power and abuse of patients that are not all mentally ill. A depression Can lead to many issues of pain in a persons mind. It’s on medical books. I have chosen just like you to say sorry I am taking this complaint to another level. Your reviews are not 2.5 because your quality of care is excellent. And your nurses somewhat and some are kind but a lot and most are rude and very aggressive. And my son has not put any reviews on your google review. It has been me the mom so please do not write any letters to my son because he doesn’t see them or read them. This issue of disrespect was towards him but the issue now is with me. I am not overseeing abuse. But this is not even about me. This is about stopping abuse to other young adults like is saw when I visited this unit. I see and hear how patients are spoken to and the words that are said and how amongst nurses how they belittle the patients so please stop apologizing Apologies are accepted. I am a Cristian woman and mom and my prayers are enough to see the final outcome of things in life. My son and I Pray for the Nurse Anthony Diaz the one who spoke to my son in a rude way and the one who woke my son up like he was a dog on a bed. Not even dogs get treated the way my son got treated. Please I respect and accept your apologizes. No need to answer with a letter.
