This is definitely not a mental health care facility that I would recommend. The entire process was centered around making sure that they were going to be able to bill our services correctly to get paid. Their intake forms are not user-friendly, their staff is not helpful or knowledgeable. One of their providers (Alma) even hung up on me. I think it's very unfortunate that this is how they are treating people who are already struggling with some type of mental health crisis. Steer clear if you can.

We greatly apologize for your frustration and the misunderstanding. When people use their insurance for counseling, we do try to take great care in helping people make sure that their insurance will cover the services they are given. We do this because of great concern for the client since clients are responsible for any outstanding bills that insurance does not pay, and we don't want our clients to have any surprises that might add to the stress that they are already coming into us to help remedy. We apologize if it came across that our main concern was different than the concern for our client's stress level. The process to get counseling started can seem tedious at first because of the different forms that need signing and the information we attempt to gather beforehand through our intake paperwork. To be the best help to our clients, we attempt to gather as much contextual information as possible. This helps us to better understand what our clients are going through and give them better treatment. We attempt to gather as much of this information as possible through our intake paperwork so that we can utilize the in-session time as effectively as possible. We value the client's time and know they would like to get relief for solutions to their problems as quick as possible. Regarding being hung up on prematurely. Unfortunately, the clinician was under the impression that the phone call was over. They have been given constructive feedback as to what could be done on their part to make it a different experience in the future. We are very sorry for this misunderstanding. As the Clinical Director and Owner of Journey Mental Health, I am very happy to receive a call from anyone who is feeling frustrated or having a difficult time with our processes here at Journey Mental Health. I welcome feedback and would be happy to help make things better in any way. Please call and ask for Greg Dunkley if you would like some further help to make things better.

I hope the counselors are better than the front desk staff. I called and explained that my son just took his life and was attempting to seek counseling for my two daughters and the first comment was what insurance do you have . Could ve shown a little compassion and maybe said a sorry to hear that, or anything really other than what s your insurance. To add insult to injury, I was then told I can join a wait list to be seen in 1.5 to 2 months due to my daughter s ages. Thank you for such a compassionate and warm encounter.

Kiel, First, words cannot describe what you must be going through with your loss. We feel greatly for you and your family. Also, I'm very sorry about the experience you had trying to get counseling set up with our agency. I chatted to the front desk assistant who took your call. Unfortunately, instead of responding with empathy, she was so concerned about your situation that she wanted to get to work to see if she could find a counselor open and a good fit for your daughters. Unfortunately, some of our counselors take more insurances than others so that is usually one of the first things our office staff ask when trying to set someone up with a counselor. Unfortunately, we only have two therapists in our agency right now who work with young children, so that is the reason for the wait list. Again, we are sorry for the experience you had and hope that you are able to find a counselor soon who is a good fit for your children to help them through their grief. Sincerely, Greg Dunkley, LMFT JMH Clinical Director/Owner

Accepted Insurance

Journey Mental Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My husband and I have been going to see Greg for almost 5 years. I have seen numerous counselors over the last 2 decades and he by far has been the best. I refer people to him all time.

I tried to make an appointment with your office for my son. I was told your therapists are booked out 3 months in advance. When I explained the situation to the receptionist, she hung up on me. I called back to speak with someone else, but she stated you could not help. When I asked for recommendations and that this was a serious mental health situation, she stated she didn't give recommendations. I got off of the phone in tears. I'm trying to save my son. Thankfully, another office was able to hear my need and schedule him in immediately. The fact that she was so uncaring and unprofessional reflects on your therapists and your office. Is this how mental health patients are treated?

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Amy,
I really apologize that you had this experience with us. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone is still in training, although this is no excuse for what happened. This is not the protocol we have for people in your situation who call us in distress. As it is true that the therapists are very full, our protocol in any situation such as yours is to have a therapist call you back to talk to you about your needs and see how they can help you. In situations where the needs are more severe, or immediate, we try to work the client in as soon as possible. If we really don't have the ability to get them in as fast as they feel is necessary, then we have many places where we can refer people to try to get the help that they need. we are very glad that you were able to find the help you needed for your son and are again very sorry that you had this experience with us. This is not our norm.
Greg Dunkley, LMFT
Clinical Director

I've been to several counselors for mild recurrent (?) depression, and I've had the best results working with Cameron at the Meridian location. The front office is caring and I've had no hiccups with appointments or anything, they meet my expectations as a counseling center.
