About BHG Asheville Treatment Center

BHG Asheville Treatment Center is committed to helping individuals reclaim their lives from opioid addiction through a personalized approach to care. They used to be the Mountain Area Recovery Center. Located in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina, the center offers outpatient treatment focused on long term recovery for those battling opioid use disorder.

Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. If you’re uninsured, they also have self pay plans and grants for qualified individuals.

Combing Treatment with Medication

The core of their services is medication assisted treatment (MAT). MAT combines FDA approved medications like methadone and buprenorphine with supportive counseling.
This approach not only helps to ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings but also gives you the stability needed to focus on healing and rebuilding your life. Each treatment plan is individualized.

Access To Counseling By Professionals

In addition to MAT, you also receive access to both individual and group counseling. These sessions address the emotional and psychological roots of addiction. They offer tools to navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop healthier coping strategies.

The center also provides trauma informed care and support for co-occurring mental health conditions. This ensures that underlying issues such as anxiety or depression are not overlooked.

I like that the treatment team includes experienced medical professionals, licensed counselors and support staff. Their goal is to create a nonjudgmental and respectful environment where you feel safe, supported and empowered.

Activities For Everyone

Bent Creek Experimental Forest is about a 10 to 15 minutes drive away from the center. You can enjoy the hiking trails and mountain biking if you’re an outdoor enthusiast. You can also relax outdoors at the French Broad River Park. The park is on the riverside and is perfect for walking with your dog and enjoying a picnic.

You will be able to grab a bite to eat at Sunny Point Care, which is a local favorite spot for brunch. You will also be able to enjoy a pastry over at OWL Bakery.

M.A.R.C. was an incredible resource for me during my recovery. Once I decided I was done fighting my addiction on my own I went to M.A.R.C. I truly believe that had I gone anywhere else I would NOT have faired as well as I did. I am coming up on my 10th year clean& sober& I have Mountain Area Recovery Center to thank for that(& the most incredible counselor I've EVER had). At M.A.R.C. it was like a family. The staff there was kind, respectful& professional, yet we went allowed to get away with anything, lol!! Some of my fondest memories of my recovery are from M.A.R.C. Unfortunately M.A.R.C. was sold to a HORRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY B.H.G. this corporation is not about ANYTHING BUT $MONEY$! They can't seem to keep help& the help that does stay have major issues with doing their job. I THANK GOD that I was lucky enough to enter into my recovery while M.A.R.C. was still up& running. I truly feel had I just entered into my recovery NOW with BHG, I NEVER WOULD'VE MADE IT!!

Whether your looking for treatment or employement go somewhere else! The staff are not professonal, your treatment will depend on which therapist handles your case. No one follows the same rules.Staff are usally very busy, not friendly and uncaring of your needs or they provide you with misinformation. I highly recommend going somewhere else. These people are friendly at first but eventually thier true colors come out. Use extreme caution if you must deal with them, they Love to play head games .

My experience was the good first day that I went for orientation, But they messed up my appointments 3 times! I was suppose to have started dosing 2 weeks ago but due to there lack of scheduling correctly I still haven't got to see nurse, or doctor, and haven't started the dosing process. Overall its a nice clean facility, polite staff, HORRIBLE scheduling and organization.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

There are many types of drug rehab in North Carolina. To receive treatment for addiction, you can choose from many inpatient and outpatient programs. Often, participants start with detox and work through a full continuum of care that continues with ongoing support for long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.
