I am grateful for the services Appalachian has provided over the past 6-7 years for my patients. Yes, they are understaffed and they are overworked, but they are also the only organization available in our area for people with mental health crises. There is a severe statewide and national problem of inadequate mental health services. Without Appalachian, our community would be in far worse shape, because there is nothing else like it available in this whole region. Despite the time it takes for some services, I believe they literally save lives.

This place is pretty special. They spread good throughout an under-served segment of our community by providing a safe place for neighbors recovering and healing, who might not have the means to stay in a rehab facility. People who have bills to pay, family to care for, and work to do (or find) and still deal with their personal demons have solace here. Tools are provided for work training, personal empowerment, healing through creativity, and many more classes and offerings (both in person/virtual), as well as personal mental health therapy sessions. This group perfectly exemplifies our mountain culture of hospitality and endurance while occupying a historic craftsman style home near downtown Waynesville. I really cannot give enough words of praise for this down-to-earth home-grown practice of truly caring professionals.

There are good people here and I have found them. Most of the classes they offer give you wonderful suggestions to learn to set boundaries and manage Anxiety while the one on one actually helps a lot if you get the right person. I feel it has benefited me with suggestions and strategies that you can apply to every day life. As someone said on here you have to do the work yourself. Didn't take you a day to get here so give it a few weeks and if you don't have the right class or person ask for someone else or go to a different class.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. Probably the best aspect of Silver Ridge was the helpful staff. Everyone to include the therapists, management, group counselors and chefs were outstanding. My stay here helped save my life! While the program is rigorous and rules are strict - if you throw yourself fully into the process, you will see results. Staff is warm and caring and are always trying to meet clients where they’re at. Hopefully I never need to, but I would return here for treatment if I had to.

This program does work, as much as you want to make it work. I’m going to 100% honest as well, this program is not a walk in the park. What this place, or Jesus in this place, has done with me is kept me sober since October 17th 2021 and grown me up spiritually and maturely as well. Did some work there is an outside vendor. It’s a rehabilitation facility for men recovering from various forms of addiction. They learn how to live off the land and run a farm, everybody I saw there had a smile and a positive attitude, they invited me to eat with the patients and staff, the food was great. I guess if I had that problem that’s a place I want to spend time to get over it.

M.A.R.C. was an incredible resource for me during my recovery. Once I decided I was done fighting my addiction on my own I went to M.A.R.C. I truly believe that had I gone anywhere else I would NOT have faired as well as I did. I am coming up on my 10th year clean& sober& I have Mountain Area Recovery Center to thank for that(& the most incredible counselor I've EVER had). At M.A.R.C. it was like a family. The staff there was kind, respectful& professional, yet we went allowed to get away with anything, lol!! Some of my fondest memories of my recovery are from M.A.R.C.
Unfortunately M.A.R.C. was sold to a HORRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY B.H.G. this corporation is not about ANYTHING BUT $MONEY$! They can't seem to keep help& the help that does stay have major issues with doing their job.

Came to next step for iop/php after my inpatient stint. this was my first time in rehab and i am here as a result of legal issues, meaning i was here less than willingly. That being said I gained so much from this program, not just in sober time but mentally. The staff is amazing and they really care, as a few of them were former patients of next step themselves. There was not a day that i didnt feel as if i wasn’t important or that my needs werent met.The freedom and the trust is another big part, youre allowed to keep your phone and car, work, vape/smoke, and pretty much do as you please within reason. I hated my time where i did inpatient, but i genuinely enjoyed this program and the time i spent here. Im only 22 so i was the youngest person here for a long while, but i never felt out of place or anything of the sort. This would be a place i recommend 100%.

I’ve been to English Mountain Recovery twice. It is by far the Best recovery program I’ve been to. I’ve been clean 13 months now I Loved it there cause the staff is incredible. English mountain is honestly the best rehab I've ever been to. I'm now currently at new hope but I miss my English mountain facilitators soooo much. As well as my therapist, corey. I'm ngl, I wish I was still there instead of new hope because I actually felt like I was getting so much out of the classes and from my therapist. Thomas and corey absolutely deserve pay raises LOL love those dudes. Anyways, thank you so much to everyone there. This is a great facility and I feel like it saved my life from alcoholism. This is the first time I feel like I can do this. If you do the work, go to the meetings and take your recovery seriously, you can stay sober. If you stay in your room and do not participate in your recovery, that is in no way a reflection of EMR. Best experience ever and I feel set free as I continue to work on myself.

I was so nervous about the decision to attend a treatment center but drugs and alcohol had kicked my butt. Real Recovery saved my life. I have been to both the detox and rehab side of ADACT. I had a good experience. I felt welcomed and the staff is great especially Kelly, she goes above and beyond for the patients. The doctors and therapist helped me stabilize my meds.The classes were great too i learned different ways to cope and retrain my brain to start good habits to replace the bad. As an addict I felt like I was somewhere I could relate to my issues that not everyone can understand. Coming out of a toxic marriage that led to my addiction and mental health it was good to be somewhere different and around new people to get away from my usual triggers and start to take the first step to recovery and living a healthy life. When I finished they guided me in the right direction to continue staying on track for my recovery.

Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center was the turning point in my life. After attending five different rehabs, I arrived here in 2020 feeling lost and uncertain if lasting change was possible. But this place—this team—changed everything for me.
From the moment I walked through the doors, the front office staff greeted me with kindness and dignity. The nurses were compassionate and attentive, the recovery coaches and counselors truly listened, and the education team made learning feel meaningful again. My therapist was nothing short of life-changing—she helped me dig deeper and start healing in ways I never thought possible.
Even the cafeteria staff made an impact. They didn’t just serve meals—they served encouragement with every plate, and their warmth stayed with me daily.
Because of Julian F. Keith, I began to believe in myself again. Today, I’m proud to say I’ve earned my associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, and I’m now finishing my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Substance Use Disorders, with a focus on trauma and gender identity. I’m also a North Carolina Board Certified Peer Support Specialist, giving back to others just like me—because someone once did the same for me here.

It's a short program that I went to for php. . It was only 30 days. The best classes they had were with this one guy, Mike. The other good classes were with a guy named Garrett. Both of them were the best teachers. Ms. Shelly was also awesome. She would go out of her way to do things with the clients. The staff there really does care. I\n Am glad that I went even though like everyone else who goes. To begin with none of us wanted to be there. Everyone is worried about what is happening with everything on the outside. In the end it helped with me tremendously. I'm really glad I went. The only thing that was really an issue the whole time I was there, was everyone complaining about there not being enough food.

This place saved my life literally!!! I came here with nothing and started all the way over with only a birth certificate social security card Bible and a toothbrush I used drugs for 25 years every day I'm 40 years old and served 17 years in the Department adult corrections. I have done multiple or a dozen different inpatient programs but never one of this caliber every staff tech receptionist doctor nurse case manager is amazing and will go above and beyond to help you in every step of recovery they all all very genuine and authentic and really care and want to see you succeed and be the best version of yourself because a good percentage of them can relate to your past struggles!!! I am currently in a great sober living house thriving and It all started here with me being vulnerable engaging in groups and therapy sessions!! Huge thanks to everyone that is employed by pyramid for believing in me!
