This place is pretty special. They spread good throughout an under-served segment of our community by providing a safe place for neighbors recovering and healing, who might not have the means to stay in a rehab facility. People who have bills to pay, family to care for, and work to do (or find) and still deal with their personal demons have solace here. Tools are provided for work training, personal empowerment, healing through creativity, and many more classes and offerings (both in person/virtual), as well as personal mental health therapy sessions. This group perfectly exemplifies our mountain culture of hospitality and endurance while occupying a historic craftsman style home near downtown Waynesville. I really cannot give enough words of praise for this down-to-earth home-grown practice of truly caring professionals.

There are good people here and I have found them. Most of the classes they offer give you wonderful suggestions to learn to set boundaries and manage Anxiety while the one on one actually helps a lot if you get the right person. I feel it has benefited me with suggestions and strategies that you can apply to every day life. As someone said on here you have to do the work yourself. Didn't take you a day to get here so give it a few weeks and if you don't have the right class or person ask for someone else or go to a different class.

If you put in the work also, this place will change your whole life. You have to want it. You have to do hard work. You can't expect just sitting thru the sessions will do it. That's where a lot of folks go wrong. You have to have the hard conversations, you have to take a hard look at yourself. It's not easy, but so very worth it!!!! The people here are amazing. Knowledgeable. They give their whole selves to helping others.

I am grateful for the services Appalachian has provided over the past 6-7 years for my patients. Yes, they are understaffed and they are overworked, but they are also the only organization available in our area for people with mental health crises. There is a severe statewide and national problem of inadequate mental health services. Without Appalachian, our community would be in far worse shape, because there is nothing else like it available in this whole region. Despite the time it takes for some services, I believe they literally save lives.

Having to use these services was an unfortunate event, but having Miss Yvonne made this experience a positive and I was glad to have her as an instructor. The entire experience was knowledgeable and compassionate. If anyone needs these services, I would not hesitate for a minute to recommend this business. Asheville Recovery was the perfect place for me to begin my recovery journey. From the cleanliness and professionalism at the lodge to the structure and balance provided at groups in clinical, I couldn't imagine a better fit. The staff, my therapist, and my case manager were amazing and very instrumental in my continued recovery process. Great food, bedrooms and bathrooms were tidy. I have been in treatment before so some of the rules that other clients struggled with were not surprising to me. The office staff could be more organized. Only 4 stars because of not really anyone knowing what the schedule was and the schedule was constantly changing. Equine and art therapy were great. Hikes included packed lunches every week. Had tai chi classes as well were very relaxing. This is a holistic program focusing on mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, there is education about 12 step programs, SMART recovery, and other options as well. Be prepared to ask any questions you may have when calling for intake/admission.

Did some work there is an outside vendor. It s a rehabilitation facility for men recovering from various forms of addiction. They learn how to live off the land and run a farm, everybody I saw there had a smile and a positive attitude, they invited me to eat with the patients and staff, the food was great. M.A.R.C. was an incredible resource for me during my recovery. Once I decided I was done fighting my addiction on my own I went to M.A.R.C. I truly believe that had I gone anywhere else I would NOT have faired as well as I did. I am coming up on my 10th year clean& sober& I have Mountain Area Recovery Center to thank for that(& the most incredible counselor I've EVER had). At M.A.R.C. it was like a family. The staff there was kind, respectful& professional, yet we went allowed to get away with anything, lol!! Some of my fondest memories of my recovery are from M.A.R.C.
Unfortunately M.A.R.C. was sold to a HORRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY B.H.G. this corporation is not about ANYTHING BUT $MONEY$! They can't seem to keep help& the help that does stay have major issues with doing their job.

I am so glad I picked next step recovery in Asheville. I ve been to many treatment facilities and next step recovery was surely my absolute favorite for many reasons. I have just recently completed the program and found it extremely helpful in many ways. Next step recovery feels warm, welcoming and understood by everyone. I really enjoyed being a part of the group sessions as well because everyone gets a chance to share and nobody is left out. Group leaders, therapists and staff were also extremely informative knowledgeable and had real life experiences. I want to thank next step again, and I will surely stay in touch!

9 months ago I was broken with nothing left accept the consequences of my addiction .. English Mountain (miracle mountain) gave me the start to what is now an amazing recovery journey at 9 months clean The staff was amazing in all aspects , from the directors down to the kitchen staff if you are serious about getting and staying clean this place is a great start

I was so nervous about the decision to attend a treatment center but drugs and alcohol had kicked my butt. Real Recovery saved my life. I will always be indebted to them for everything they done for me. They allowed me to be and never judged me when I was vulnerable. Live or die, that was my choice. I chose to live and to enter Pavillon for help in 2010. I can honestly say that it was the best and most important decision I have ever made because Pavillon was instrumental in saving my life. I attended the primary and extended care programs. The staff's knowledge of addiction, experience, sincerity and personal care built trust, hope and faith. Leaving Pavillon with a plan designed to further my recovery was a tremendous help. Pavillon's alumni resources are invaluable. Meetings, workshops and opportunities for service are just a few.I will be eternally grateful to the staff at Pavillon and their mission for helping to keep me sober for more than 14 years.
