I have been going to the Freedom House Durham for about 7 years. The Freedom House has always been my comfort zone with battling life issues and struggles. Dr Julie Mutua has been the best doctor I’ve had for my mental health concerns. She is always available welcoming and she not only understands but she has a compassionate heart. The receptionist Ms Linda always is available for all my scheduling needs and I am so thankful and grateful for the services they have and will continue to provide me. U guys should definitely give Freedom House a chance they have a good name because Freedom is what they provide when u need comfort.

I just returned home from 4 weeks at Structure House in the Jump Start Program. The program was absolutely amazing! My 17yo daughter also came with me as my “family support.” I hope to return this summer for 2 weeks!
The program offered multiple classes a day and they focused on eating, exercise, wellness, GLP-1s, planning, medical issues, cooking and they also offered support groups. There were also planned field trips to play pickleball, shop at target and shop at the mall. My FAVORITE activity was Aqua fitness which was held 2x a day. There was also an art classes held during my last week that I wish was offered more! The nutrition classes also taught me a lot I didn’t know.
The other people in the program were a pleasure to spend time with and it’s a very supportive environment.
The food was beyond amazing and Chef Thomas and his staff were wonderful. They had so many options of food. The food was healthy, but it tasted delicious! It was a great way to reset your eating and patterns around eating.
I had a 1 bedroom apartment and it was very nice and modern. There was plenty of space and it was nice to have a washer and dryer in the bathroom.
If you are considering going to SH, I highly recommend it. During my time there, most of the people there were returning customers which says a lot! It means that people come back multiples times because it’s so great! I am hoping to be one of those return customers!
The only thing I would change would be more classes on the weekends 🙂

I went to Structure House in 2019. I can’t say enough about it. It helped me get into shape with the exercise classes and equipment. It helped me to develop healthy eating habits and because I stayed the whole month, I was able to stop my sweet cravings. In addition the classes taught me some great skills to catch myself when I want to go back to bad habits.
I am actually 20lbs lighter now then when I was when I left (144lbs) and now in my husband has lost weight from the skills I learnt when there.
My diabetes is a little better.
So thankful for Structure House!

I have been here for a long time and have 27 take homes. If u actually wanna get clean and not just use it bc u can’t find anything else than the place is good plus since getting a new head nurse “that we needed so bad” n when Anna was the director things have gotten much better. even tho Anna is not there anymore she got it together and it seems like the new director is following her lead, the only bad thing I can say about Baart is if someone skips line or being disrespectful and you say something then I would be punished by holding my take homes over my head while the other person who started the mess has no take home’s receive no kinda punishment.

I love my doctors! I've never had a doctor or their office actually meet me halfway. My therapist and psychiatrist are always there when I need them. I don't have to worry about making sure that I have a ride to get to and from my appointments, the virtual visits are very convenient, especially when you're a single parent. They work around the minor inconveniences when you have kids in the background yelling for you. They don't keep you on the phone any longer than needed, when you're the only parent taking care of them. The patient portal is very convenient as well, especially after hours. You can still get a hold of them to talk about changes to your information, needing to make or cancel an appointment, etc...they say that it could take up to 2 days for a reply. But I've never had to wait, but just a few minutes to get a message back.

I want to extend a special shout out to Miguel, Mana, and Charlie. When my father-in-law's ride home was canceled and the companies he uses didn't have any drivers available for four hours, these men became our guardian angels. I greatly benefitted from my 4 week stay at Carolina House. While it was not perfect (no place is), I would definitely go back in the future if needed. One thing to note: I almost didn't go because the sample schedule they send you looks packed full from morning to night. This is definitely not the case. There's far more break time than group time. In fact, groups are frequently cancelled and are often shorter than the allotted time (which was my biggest complaint while there, since I had come in hopes of an intensive therapy experience). That said, the groups are mostly helpful and the staff were usually pleasant. The house is clean and comfortable and the back deck is nice when the weather permits.

Carolina House saved my life. I am forever grateful for my amazing therapist, Marisa, and dietician, Sarah, who worked extremely hard to help me reach my goals. CH was flexible with my needs and made me feel safe and comfortable. With any treatment center, there were flaws. You have to be motivated and willing to do the work independently as at times the supervision is limited. I was exposed to many new foods that I previously would have never tried! Shout out to Kenly for all the variety. 1:1 Exposures, restaurant outings, and weekend outings made you feel more “normal” in a stressful situation. The BHA’s were always there when needed, even in the middle of the night. Nursing never made me feel like a burden or uncomfortable when talking about health concerns. The homelike setting made it easier to carry over skills when I was discharged. Be brave and do the next right thing.

This facility saved my life. I don't have enough good words to say about Carolina House. Staff were so great. I had a wonderful therapist (Anna) and a great dietitian (Emma). I was challenged in ways I didn't realized I need to be challenged in. I left in such a good place in my recovery thanks to Carolina House. There are definitely problems with the facility but there is no perfect facility. There might be some problems but the good outweighs the bad. You do need to be in a place where you want recovery as this program is meant for those with self-accountability.

Ok, for one, it seems many of the people here that write reviews don't have any idea how psychiatrist do their jobs. And furthermore, you don't give a negative review because you couldn't figure out there is a parking garage next to the building.
I am seeing Arkady Millard, who has been great at listening to me and understanding my scenario. She has been tremendously helpful, and has given me confidence in the Duke system. Yes, sometimes you have to try different things, for those of you out there that think you get a magic wand and a solution the first time. Mrs./Miss Millard is really a gem and an asset to the Duke Psychiatry system. I cannot thank her and the Duke system enough for existing and having staff that can empathize with what some people may be experiencing. Yes, medical systems can be "cookie cutter"; you can't have a perfectly individualized plan all of the time and medicine works this way everywhere in the U.S. Duke just does it with passion and empathy and this brings me to a level of comfort I seldom feel at other places. This place is a godsend. They have a variety of doctors that can help you with whatever problem you are having. My doctor in particular is very awesome. For the following reasons:
1. He talks to me on basically a equal level.
2. He always says what he suggests we try as part of my therapy plan, but he then asks me if I would like to try it. This is important because by giving me the choice instead of lording over me, it makes it more likely that I will try it with an open mind.
3. He's really super nice to me.
4. He's not judgemental of the things that I tell him about. He just asks if that's working for me. Oftentimes we find out it isn't and he suggests an alternative idea in that regard.
Your experience may be different depending upon the physician you get but they have a variety of new and seasoned professionals there to help you with your life goals.

I have only good things to say about this agency. The staff is professional caring and very understanding. The doctors on the medication management portion are very knowledgeable of my medical needs and have been nothing but helpful. One of my family members sees the primary care doctor their Dr Partridge and she is amazing she has helped our family during the time of need. My experience has been positive so far. Very caring professionals that really want to see the clients quality of life improve. Laquanda has made me feel like I’m her only client. She takes time to listen with care and gives me therapeutic feedback. In SAIOP group Fred always keeps everyone involved and it has become a very safe place to share with my peers and he gives the feedback necessary for us to process the lesson for that day. Tyrik is very polite and shows only excellent skill when driving me to group. Mr. Torrey coordinates efficient routes so I’m always home at a good time. I am so happy I was referred here. My grandson started YE last school year. The program is great and emphasizes accountability. My grandson blamed everyone else but himself for his behavior. The counselors and therapist have worked with him and I have seen a big change in his behavior. The school was calling me weekly if not daily some weeks. It took a little while but I’ve only received one call from the school this year. The counselors stay abreast of what’s happening in the child’s life and work with school officials and parents to obtain a more positive outcome for the child. I can’t praise the team enough for the work they’ve done and continue to do daily. Every team member I’ve spoken with have left me with the impression they care.

I have went here when it was Veritas multiple times as an adolescent. It was a terrible experience. They did not really give true individualized are that really helped and seemed more focused on making profit.
After RES at TEP in Atlanta, GA, I transitioned to TEP here in Durham. PHP was nice compared to RES because I wasn't beyond bored and could leave at 2:30 pm all days except Saturday, where we left about an hour earlier (after at least a month or two, the same weekly schedule can get boring). The staff are INCREDIBLY receptive to feedback. In community meeting, if you need supplies, next week there will be supplies. I was not the person requesting, but as someone who has been to about seven different facilities throughout the last eight years, this facility had the most receptive staff I've seen. The staff do care about you and many of the patients were kind (during my stay at least). IOP was about the same as PHP, you just go to programming four days a week and are expected to be there around 8 and leave at 11:30 (unless you have an appointment).
I know everyone's treatment and case is individual. However, out of every treatment I've been to, I feel like this program is actually solid. Certainly not perfect, but it got the job done for me. And my dietician was and is fantastic because she actually understands and challenges me.

This place is amazing. Its a great place if you actually commit to recovery all the staff are kind and welcoming. They all give support and or tone down situations by thinking of both sides. I love how everything is made to the point where triggers are NOT brought up and if they are then its by accident! Y'all parents be wary, now. I was an adolescent in PHP (repeat offender), and they will give the patients much more percent completion than the patients actually did on meals just to have things over fast. That affects the team making their decisions. Be involved in your kid's treatment.
Overall, this place is helpful for treatment, with quality staff but a noticeable amount of staff turn over, usually people in their younger twenties supervising us. We get away with stuff. A dietitian gave a vegetarian a blog post as a credible source once, and a girl was vaping here once. Not common, though. Have somewhere else for your kid to talk, too, since there is a lot of limits on what we can say in groups here, in light of triggers.
You get to choose what you get out of treatment here, because there's wiggle room to sneak under the radar in PHP (trust me, you do not want to go to res), so put your all in to get your all out.
