If you are serious about your recovery and want a team of people to support you then this is an amazing place to help you get your life together. Most of the staff are in recovery themselves so they know all to well how real the struggles are. If you're not too serious about your recovery then they will still help push you towards sobriety but you get what you put into it (as in many things in life). I know this place has probably saved my life. More than once. I will forever be grateful and highly suggest Freedom House to anyone struggling with their own addiction and/or mental health issues.

Overall I had a positive experience living at Kingswood. Coming from DC, I absolutely felt safe living in these apartments, which was a big win for me. They are well priced for what you get and just an easy place to live. I had some pipe issues, including ants coming from the toilet (I lived on the bottom floor) and a busted pipe behind my kitchen sink which made it fairly hard to use the kitchen for a few weeks, but overall, compared to other places I have lived, this was great. No big frills, but it overall was a very positive experience and if I moved back to Chapel Hill, I'd look there first, but maybe at one of the units that has a bit less stairs. The complex is on the free bus line that takes you directly to campus, so very great for students as well.

Dr. Reid is the premier anxiety specialist in the USA. His approach to panic disorder is paradoxical and highly effective. Since he doesn’t accept insurance (like a growing number of therapists of all persuasions) of course he will appear expensive. He takes time to see if a potential client will respond positively to his approach. I have known him for years, learned his approach to panic disorders, and referred multiple clients to him. He does use CBT when that is the most reliable intervention. I strongly recommend him for treatment of any anxiety disorder. Bohdan Hrynewych, LCSW

Reid Wilson PhD is a superb cognitive behavior therapist, very highly regarded by the rest of us CBTers. For anyone with panic disorder, agoraphobia, OCD, phobias or an anxiety disorder treatment by Dr. Wilson would include the most advanced, cutting edge techniques, delivered with caring and compassion. I am one of many other psychologists who have repeatedly traveled many miles to learn from Reid Wilson. He is regarded as one of the premier practitioners of CBT in the United States. HIs kindness and generosity are also well known.

I have been here for a long time and have 27 take homes. If u actually wanna get clean and not just use it bc u can’t find anything else than the place is good plus since getting a new head nurse “that we needed so bad” n when Anna was the director things have gotten much better. even tho Anna is not there anymore she got it together and it seems like the new director is following her lead, the only bad thing I can say about Baart is if someone skips line or being disrespectful and you say something then I would be punished by holding my take homes over my head while the other person who started the mess has no take home’s receive no kinda punishment.

I started going to BAART 5-6 years ago after struggling with opioid addiction for years and I personally feel as if it saved my life. . . But I wanted it to. There are some amazing people who work there and who truly care about the patients recovery and bettering their lives. There are the people who work the program to really get themselves better and then there's the ones who just use the methadone to "not be sick" or in withdrawl but still use/get high. I have recommended BAART to multiple people and have also helped a few people with starting g treatment here.

After life-long challenges with depression, I thought I had experienced or tried everything that therapy and psychiatry could provide. My experience at Pasadena Villa Outpatient in Raleigh in their partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs has showed that there are ways to receive evidence-based therapy, such as CBT and DBT, in a way that was more effective than I could have imagined. Every therapist and psychiatrist I spoke with during my time there was pleasant and it was more than clear that all they wanted to do was help me with my mental health challenges. I would recommend this place to anyone struggling with mental health challenges that wishes for something more involved than regular therapy: you will feel better for it.

I have had a very positive experience with Eleanor Health, I left a message with their answering service during their off hours and someone actually called me back which I thought was amazing, being able to see someone telehealth that takes my insurnace is a Godsend. I think as with any treatment provider patients feeling comfortable is paramount. I would say if you arnt comfortable with someone within your treatment team don't be afraid to ask to be seen by someone else. Communicate with your team. The Insight Program was exactly what I needed. I came into the intensive outpatient program after being referred from an inpatient I attended in Georgia when I was 17 years old. I did 13 weeks of IOP and then stayed in their support group for 1 1/2 years. This program taught me how to be sober and live a sober lifestyle in a way that I could understand and relate to. I had been to 4 other treatment centers when I ended up here. I connected with this place the most because all of staff are in recovery and had gone through the program themselves. They were immediate examples that recovery was possible for me, and I knew they understood what I was going through because they had gone through it themselves. The meetings and functions gave me things to do in the evenings other than using substances and people my age who were sober to socialize with. This program gave me the environment and tools I needed to learn how be sober and take ownership over my life. I have 3 years sober next month and have fully transitioned into AA, but I will forever be grateful for my experience here and what I learned.

I went through this program in 2019 and became an alumni. It changed my life and helped me develop a solid network of people in recovery in this area. Unfortunately, after 2.5 years of sobriety, I moved away from Raleigh and stopped working a recovery program and ended up relapsing and losing everything over the course of a few months. What makes this place so special to me is that when I called, they sent someone to Wilmington to pick me up and brought me back into the program... And I've never had to pay a penny for any of their services! If you want to change your life and are willing to do the work, this place always has its doors open!

Carolina House saved my life. I am forever grateful for my amazing therapist, Marisa, and dietician, Sarah, who worked extremely hard to help me reach my goals. CH was flexible with my needs and made me feel safe and comfortable. With any treatment center, there were flaws. You have to be motivated and willing to do the work independently as at times the supervision is limited. I was exposed to many new foods that I previously would have never tried! Shout out to Kenly for all the variety. 1:1 Exposures, restaurant outings, and weekend outings made you feel more “normal” in a stressful situation. The BHA’s were always there when needed, even in the middle of the night. Nursing never made me feel like a burden or uncomfortable when talking about health concerns. The homelike setting made it easier to carry over skills when I was discharged. Be brave and do the next right thing.

This facility saved my life. I don't have enough good words to say about Carolina House. Staff were so great. I had a wonderful therapist (Anna) and a great dietitian (Emma). I was challenged in ways I didn't realized I need to be challenged in. I left in such a good place in my recovery thanks to Carolina House. There are definitely problems with the facility but there is no perfect facility. There might be some problems but the good outweighs the bad. You do need to be in a place where you want recovery as this program is meant for those with self-accountability.
