Came to next step for iop/php after my inpatient stint. this was my first time in rehab and i am here as a result of legal issues, meaning i was here less than willingly. That being said I gained so much from this program, not just in sober time but mentally. The staff is amazing and they really care, as a few of them were former patients of next step themselves. There was not a day that i didnt feel as if i wasn’t important or that my needs werent met.The freedom and the trust is another big part, youre allowed to keep your phone and car, work, vape/smoke, and pretty much do as you please within reason. I hated my time where i did inpatient, but i genuinely enjoyed this program and the time i spent here. Im only 22 so i was the youngest person here for a long while, but i never felt out of place or anything of the sort. This would be a place i recommend 100%.

Dear Charles George VA Medical Center Team, On behalf of our entire family, I want to express our deepest gratitude for the compassion, dignity, and honor you showed to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Mike McClure, during his final days. What could have been an unbearably painful experience was made profoundly human and meaningful because of the care and respect your team provided. We would especially like to recognize Jason, the nurse on the 2nd floor ICU. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion went far beyond what we ever expected. Jason took the time to truly know our grandfather — not just as a patient, but as a person. He treated him with such respect and dignity, and his gentle manner brought great comfort to both Mike and our entire family. Jason, originally from Milwaukee, exemplifies what it means to serve with heart. Our family has been coming to Charles George VA for over 50 years, and through every season of life, you have cared for us with grace, empathy, and excellence. When our grandfather passed, the way your team honored him — with the playing of trumpets and the entire floor showing their respect as he was wheeled out — was one of the most moving and beautiful gestures we have ever witnessed. We are forever grateful for the humanity, honor, and love that you showed our family in this difficult time. Thank you for reminding us what true care and compassion look like. With sincere appreciation and respect, The McClure Family

Be aware there are a lot of rules and you are punished if you break the rules. With that being said it’s a structured environment that does provide good therapy. There can be some toxicity amongst other patients so it’s best to not let that get to you and your recovery. I had a necklace that I left there for over a year that was for my great grandfather who fought in World war 2. Somehow someway I called them on a whim and they had the necklace and they sent it to me!! This was such a big deal to me and they took such care and making sure they didn’t lose the item. Of course if it was a two toothpaste it would’ve been gone. Now I’m in college and I’m two weeks away from my first study abroad trip to Argentina to study Spanish in my life makes sense. This place is pretty special. They spread good throughout an under-served segment of our community by providing a safe place for neighbors recovering and healing, who might not have the means to stay in a rehab facility. People who have bills to pay, family to care for, and work to do (or find) and still deal with their personal demons have solace here. Tools are provided for work training, personal empowerment, healing through creativity, and many more classes and offerings (both in person/virtual), as well as personal mental health therapy sessions. This group perfectly exemplifies our mountain culture of hospitality and endurance while occupying a historic craftsman style home near downtown Waynesville. I really cannot give enough words of praise for this down-to-earth home-grown practice of truly caring professionals.

There are good people here and I have found them. Most of the classes they offer give you wonderful suggestions to learn to set boundaries and manage Anxiety while the one on one actually helps a lot if you get the right person. I feel it has benefited me with suggestions and strategies that you can apply to every day life. As someone said on here you have to do the work yourself. Didn't take you a day to get here so give it a few weeks and if you don't have the right class or person ask for someone else or go to a different class.

Might be rated highly amongst other VA hospitals, but they’re just as terrible as the rest of them! If I could, I’d give them zero stars…community care especially!

They used to be the Mountain Area Recovery Center. Located in the heart of Asheville, North Carolina, the center offers outpatient treatment focused on long term recovery for those battling opioid use
M.A.R.C. was an incredible resource for me during my recovery. Once I decided I was done fighting my addiction on my own I went to M.A.R.C. I truly believe that had I gone anywhere else I would NOT have faired as well as I did. I am coming up on my 10th year clean& sober& I have Mountain Area Recovery Center to thank for that(& the most incredible counselor I've EVER had). At M.A.R.C. it was like a family. The staff there was kind, respectful& professional, yet we went allowed to get away with anything, lol!! Some of my fondest memories of my recovery are from M.A.R.C. Unfortunately M.A.R.C. was sold to a HORRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY B.H.G. this corporation is not about ANYTHING BUT $MONEY$! They can't seem to keep help& the help that does stay have major issues with doing their job. I THANK GOD that I was lucky enough to enter into my recovery while M.A.R.C. was still up& running. I truly feel had I just entered into my recovery NOW with BHG, I NEVER WOULD'VE MADE IT!!
