My mother suffered a bad fall at her home on August 25, 2025. She was taken by ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO. At Capital Region, she was checked into a room where she received the immediate care she needed from the hospital staff. After a thorough examination and tests, the doctors discovered a tumor the size of a tennis ball and found she was suffering from esophageal cancer. Before arriving at the Medical Center, she had lost a lot of blood, and her already frail and weakened body was unable to maintain and sustain her vital bodily functions. As family members arrived to see her, we experienced the expertise and compassionate nature of the Capital Region staff. In a word, they were AMAZING and greatly helped my mother and all of us who came to see her. They explained everything and prepared us for the unescapable reality that my mother did not have enough strength to overcome the amount of blood and the severity of the cancer that was infecting her body. With the help of the Capital Region staff, we understood what was happening and waited beside her as she slowly and peacefully passed away in her sleep. I cannot say enough about the staff. Their professionalism and compassion were a blessing to us. Nurse Penne and all of the other staff members we encountered were incredible. To think that this is what they do everyday is mind-boggling. They were so sincere, so genuine with us, and with my mother. On behalf of our family, THANK YOU for helping us through this difficult time.

I was taken to this hospital by ambulance with terrible gastric pains. After a scope, my stomach is 75% covered in ulcers. During my recovery, they said I can have a can of coca cola. Cola is acidic. Plus they tried giving me miralax because they said I needed fiber. Miralax has ZERO fiber in it. It was supposed to be carafate. Not miralax. Carafate is used to coat your stomach. Thankfully I caught it. Plus, at no time did anyone put me in for food of any kind. I was never offered any meals. Not even jello. This place is a farce. Never go here!!!! Do not go to crmc!!!

Accepted Insurance

New Vision – Capital Region Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

I am writing this review to express my profound gratitude for the care my 18-year-old autistic son received at Capital Region Medical Center Outpatient Surgery. Because he is low-functioning, my son requires sedation for procedures like bloodwork, and it is often a stressful experience. The team that worked with him—Dr. Blythe Harris, Marc Miller RN, Teresa B. RN, and Mark B. RN—was simply exceptional. They approached his care with a perfect balance of empathy, professionalism, and genuine heart. They recognized his struggle with being infantilized and treated him with the dignity and respect of an adult. They spoke directly to him, listened to his concerns, and helped him to self-advocate throughout the entire process. This level of individualized and compassionate care made a world of difference. I would not hesitate to recommend this team and facility to any family in a similar situation. A perfect 10/10—absolutely no complaints.

I've had mixed experiences with the hospital but the ER is where my problems always come up. Most recently I came in with a high fever, bad headache, and a few other symptoms and I reiterated the fact that I am postpartum multiple times. When they finally saw me they were quick to label it a "virus" without any pelvic exam, ultrasound, or OB/GYN consult and sent me home after giving me Tylenol. My temperature climbed to almost 104 with fever reducers that night. I went for a second opinion in Columbia instead where I actually received an ultrasound, pelvic exam, and a diagnosis of endometritis (postpartum infection) and needed to stay in hospital to get IV antibiotics because of sepsis risk. Cap Region literally sent me home to die and acted like I was just another annoying, hysterical patient when I tried to bring up possibly needing further testing. Please go to Columbia or elsewhere if you want any kind of quality of care from the ER.

Dr Bond preformed an emergency appendectomy on me, and I could not be more pleased with the way I was treated in the process. I showed up too the Emergency Room, and was promptly seen. The nurse practitioner and techs listened to my symptoms, and proceeded with the appropriate ct scans and blood work promptly and found the issue. They kept me over night and my night tech a dark hair young lady named Emma was amazing. I wasn’t planning on a stay so didn’t have anything with me, she charged my phone for me and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and take care of. All of the staff was great and went out of their way to explain everything in detail about procedure/after care and never made me feel silly for asking questions. For the circumstances, it was a great experience and I am grateful for the wonderful staff!

I just moved to Missouri and I have a lot of health issues. Psychotic and Autoimmune diseases. They literally draw my blood and started a IV in the waiting room. I’m extremely concerned because they said my alcohol level was 3.5. I don’t even have alcohol here or even know where to buy it. I’ve been here for 4 days. They didn’t even look at the paperwork my doctor sent with me. I was hospitalized from June 2nd to June 19th I went home to pack up and move. The trip took 4 days to even get here. The most unprofessional doctor I’ve ever seen in my life

I took my fiance in the er because she was throwing up and passing out and when I took her in there the nurses were rude and not very gentle about doing tests and taking blood. I think they can do better and let go of their egos. It was almost like they made us feel dumb for not understanding what they were talking about. Do better.

If I could give the OB department a 10 star rating I would. The resceptionist are always so warm and welcoming, they give my kids stickers and actually talk to them instead of ignoring or brushing them off. My wifes OB Dr. Olson is great. He puts you at ease and answers your questions with out the fear of something you think might be stupid. Anyone who has doubts about having a male Dr you can be sure Dr. Olson is the best choice. And his nurse Sam is the best nurse ever. She has always welcomed me and my kids she even came to vist my wife after having our son. What nurse will come out of their way to go vist a patient on the other end of the hospital. Mostly everyone I have met makes going to the OB/GYN floor a pleasure.

The actual medical professionals are wonderful and beyond kind & caring, however: 1) admin/desk staff are rude and will treat you like you’re scum for calling & politely asking for directions on where to enter for surgery 2) their leaders abandoned anthem insurance holders because anthem told MU “no, you can’t pull a Martin Shkreli and hike up your prices an absurdly high percentage for no reason” I loved my providers. However this place is the poster child for corporate greed in medicine
