First of all I want to say that my provider was amazing and I have no bad things to say about him. The office staff and whoever runs it however leaves much to be desired.I had been regularly seeing my provider for over a year. Recently life became extremely difficult and my anxiety which had been well controlled was much worse. I called the office to ask if my provider could call me back. I was having a panic attack. The lady I spoke with kept telling me to go to the ER, and I said no bc I've been to the ER for panic before and hospitals make it worse and then they gaslight you. I was told again they recommended I go to the ER. I explained I'm not depressed or having any kind of dangerous thoughts. I was told the on call provider would be in contact as my doctor was out of the office. I never got a call from a provider. I did however have police show up for a wellness check which was unnecessary and frankly made all of my anxiety get much worse. I had an appointment for 2 weeks out so I white knuckled the anxiety until then. It was so bad, in a moment of overwhelm I put in my notice at my job.Two days before my scheduled appointment I had a cast put on my hand and forearm. I was scheduled for an in person appointment and called to see if it could be switched to virtual. I was berated for not giving enough notice, threatened with a late cancel fee and they REFUSED to let me see my provider virtually. I explained that the cast was not planned and there would be no way for me to safely drive for the in person appt. They offered for me to reschedule in April, but I knew my insurance would be termed before then.I had checked their website insurance list and signed up for a marketplace plan based on THEIR OWN INFORMATION. It was finally set up and I called to inform them and was told they don't accept ANY APPLE HEALTH despite no mention of this on their patient info tab that listed APPLE HEALTH PLANS.I am absolutely disgusted by this clinic. They called an unnecessary welfare check which made everything worse for me because they don't want any liability. They refused to let me see my provider virtually before my insurance termed and then got mad at me for canceling last minute WHICH WAS NOT MY CHOICE. At every turn the concern from their point of view was 1- how to get as much money as possible and 2- how to avoid liability. That's not what a clinic working with psychiatric patients should be focused on.Every course of action on their part was not based on patient care and outcomes, it was thinly veiled attempts to make as much money as possible on the backs of suffering people. They indirectly made my life so unmanageable that I quit my job and then continued to make things worse or confusing at every step. Shame on you Overlake Outpatient Psychiatry. If I had means to I would absolutely escalate this to the state insurance commissioner.Patients are not commodities to financially rape and then deny access to help fix the damage they created. I'm disgusted by your "patient service" reps, the on call provider system, the insistence on going to an ER with a $175 copay and then a wellness check when I told you how absurd that was. Words can't begin to describe how this office has hurt me in the last 60 days. Dr Hindeyeh was great but this office is just despicable. If you can't provide patients with care at the level they need then close up shop. I regret establishing care and I hope someone reads this and takes something to heart and makes changes. If I had received care instead of having 911 called i might still have a job and my commercial insurance. I hold this office responsible.

This might be the first bad review I've ever left on google, but I called them six times and left three voicemails asking for admission into their partial hospitalization program during a crisis (which is painful and exhausting). They finally got back to me after three days and told me they wouldn't accept me because I have OCD and should go somewhere that specializes in OCD. I told them my therapist and psychiatrist explicitly recommended I NOT do that, as OCD is not my primary problem but the woman on the phone kept saying to go somewhere that specializes in OCD in response to me repeatedly saying that it is not my main issue. It's unbelievably exhausting to go through this process when you are in the midst of a crisis anyway, but to be turned away from somewhere after weeks of being unable to function, in a desperate situation is horrible.

I went to Bellevue Psychiatry at Hidden Valley for the first appointment in Sept (after I got referral from Overlake sleep center) and I received a $134 bill for the doctor visit and a separate bill at $427 for the facility. OK, this was a purely conversational appointment, so do I have to pay for sitting in the office at $400? I'm very disappointed about the lack of transparency of their billing practices, because I was NOT informed about this unusual charge before making this appointment. The lack of clear communication about such significant fees is not acceptable.

Accepted Insurance

Overlake Hospital Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Overlake can be really great, unfortunately when it comes to psychiatry that’s not the case. I came in at the end of summer and saw a woman doctor, she was very pushy about medications that I wasn’t comfortable taking. So I used my once in a life time provider switch and he can’t seem to remember what medications I’ve said absolutely not to, he then told another on call psychiatrist to give me that exact medication I said no to and launched a really stressful conversation with a provider I didn’t know who ended up making the situation much worse, he won’t give me a medication that could genuinely help but he’ll offer me a stronger version of a medication I hated, I was literally a minute past the grace period and they told me I can’t come in and that they were going to charge me a fee when I was literally in the parking lot, and on top of everything, they’re IMPOSSIBLE to obtain an appointment within a week or two. This is the lowest level of psychiatric care for mental health and would recommend looking elsewhere maybe not in a hospital.

Do not come here if you are a female being evaluated for ADHD. I was referred here by my primary care provider to be evaluated for ADHD. After the first 60 minute appointment the Dr said she needed to see me again to really evaluate me. In our second appointment we spent maybe 5 minutes talking about ADHD and that was only so the Dr could say that she thinks this diagnosis is essentially given out too freely by other psychiatrists, and that she couldn’t say if I had it or not because she really only diagnoses people who very clearly have it. She then said that at that center they really just recommends you see a neurologist. So she had me book another appointment with her for what? So she could tell me she couldn’t evaluate me and they don’t really do evaluations anyway? And even then she seemed to be discouraging me from seeking out testing, stating that it’s costly, time consuming, and that it typically lasts 6-8 hours. She asked me nothing to do with my past history, nothing to do with my symptoms related to ADHD. I was so frustrated with her at the end I was about to cry, I just kept saying okay to whatever she said because I wanted the appointment to end. It was a complete waste of time and money. It took so much just to schedule this appointment, then to move my life around, and in the end I’m back to square one. I do not recommend coming to this facility.

I have been a patient of Dr. Pierson for years. He and the office Staff have always been prompt and helpful. I am greatful for Dr. Pierson, he is one reason I am still alive today.

I recently had my first appointment at Bellevue Psychiatry at Hidden Valley and was left feeling frustrated and misled. My primary concern lies with the lack of transparency regarding their billing practices. At no point during the scheduling or intake process was I informed about a $400 facility fee. This lack of disclosure was not only surprising but also created an unexpected financial burden. The lack of clear communication about such significant fees is unacceptable.

Saul is great. Very respectful and kind and good at his job. Makes you feel welcomed. The clinic is not comfortable or inviting. The patients don't have access to the patient portal and my psychiatrist told me that it is because of "our population."

Martin Knutson, we really appreciate your positive review! Our team strives to deliver an excellent experience, and are glad you found this to be the case during your visit. If you have further needs or questions, please reach out!

Bad experience here. Had a nervous breakdown, self-advocated and booked an appointment to get some relief. Instead of listening to my concerns, the Dr. was more concerned about my current medication. Wanted to pull one of my meds blaming me for not taking it correctly. Admin staff is rude & my psych refused to refill my prescription after. Had to go to my primary.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Miriam Borges, we are disappointed to see your low star rating. While we can't comment on specific situations, we would appreciating hearing more from you so we may learn and improve. Please contact us at patient.action@overlakehospital.org to speak directly with us. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will use your comments to refine our efforts to ensure this issue does not happen again.
