I’m very grateful for my experience at Lakeside-Milam. From my first interaction with a Joyce to my assessment with Jennifer I instantly felt cared for and comfortable. When I started the program I was nervous but Bill my counselor instantly made me feel welcome and able to be myself. Which has been so helpful extremely impactful to my growth and success. Group sessions never felt like a lecture or I was just being given information. Bill made it very relatable and made me feel like he truly cared about me and my success. I will be forever grateful for this and the changes Bill and lakeside Milam have helped me achieve!

I really appreciate your latest commercial about the tribe, showing pics from history, the 'boats' ceremony, etc. I grew up in Western Montana, and had a native friend in 4th grade (1964) who was Kootenai Tribe, I was told by my parents NOT to play with her, for various reasons, which even at an early age I recognized as ignorant, we played together anyway. I was welcome in her home, but she was not in mine. Both of our parents had issues with alcoholism so we had several great reasons to bond, and one that was not. My mother made me wash at the outdoor water spigot before I could come in the house. It was wrong then, and negative treatment is wrong now. Thanks for sharing the truly wonderful birthrights of NA tribes.

Attending Lakeside has been one of the best decisions of my life. Their inpatient facility in Kirkland has a very welcoming atmosphere, the grounds are wooded and beautiful you get lots of free time to enjoy yourself mixed in with some very informative lectures and groups.
I spent some time at the outpatient facility and I would again suggest going there for inpatient, outpatient, or continuing care. I had a wonderful case worker for most of my time there who helped me navigate some challenging life experiences, and the groups I had there were invaluable to my recovery.
They are a 12 step focused treatment facility, but they also promote exploration of other programs and won't alienate you if you don't vibe with AA as your chosen method of recovery.

Absolutely Loved my stay at Olalla! Great meals everyday 🙌🏼 coffee too(if ya get up early enough). The staff I had during my experience were some of the best counselors & people you’ll meet! Counselors will definitely call you on your BULLSHIT & keep you accountable(Can’t bullshit a bullshitter, they say). So good luck trying to skate by or just faking it to make it. I got down to some good core roots I never thought of before, got a lot of “Dark Things” out in my time here too. Also not too bad of classes either! With a slightly more stoic approach one could say maybe, lots of good new info! Also, when you get towards the end of your stay, if you’re feeling not quite ready to leave, you can ask for extension(s) too. 🙌🏼
This place is really about their patients, as groups tend to be no bigger than 6-12 people, so, plenty of questions to be asked, searched for, & answered!!! I was in the Falcon Group, our group never got bigger than 6-7 people. And it’s males with males & females do there daily groups with just females, allowing for a little more comfort/support when sharing personal matters. Absolutely love Olalla & would recommend this inpatient facility to ANYONE struggling with addiction!!

So upset this treatment center is closing!! Typical corporate decision. I am alive today because of their treatment. Clean & sober for 15 years with no desire to drink, do drugs, and/or binging on both. The comments from the new owners were disrespectful and ignorant about the process. Treatment is not easy in any program, but if it saves lives why end it. Shame on you Universal Healthcare! Many lives will be lost by closing this hospital.

I feel like it needs to be said that no one will kick an addiction in 10 days. Even the traditional 28 days won't end the addiction. There are no shortcuts to the life long journey you are embarking on, if you choose sobriety. What Schick does - is give you the tools, and take away the cravings so you can handle this huge life shift.
I have been abusing alcohol for 8 years and finally decided I needed professional help. Schick is working so far for me. I've been 81 days sober as of today.
What the treatment is like:
There is a daily schedule of meds, vitals, and group. You will spend the mid morning through mid afternoon either completing a sleepy (propofol conscious sedation treatment where they ask you a series of questions related to getting sober, and staying sober) and counseling, or a duffy (ipecac aversion treatment where they give you ipecac and then have you drink alcohol. you quickly become ill to associate drinking with nausea.). Late afternoon are various groups.
Pros:
-The medical director at the hospital is a true patient advocator. Sabrina is incredible.
-The community. I felt safe sharing in group, and gained some friends I imagine will be with me for life.
-The counselor John. I've been going to therapy the past ten years, but HE is my favorite person I've talked through my mental health with. Compassionate, empathetic, just a good listener, and has great life advice. He's been there done that, and helped me see some great perspective. His lectures are also my favorite.
-The program. Schick gives all of the same literature that any other rehab gives, but also has the aversion therapy, and sedation treatment.
-The resources. The media wall, the counselors, the lectures, the movies, the hypnosis videos, the 4 agreements, etc. There are so many resources it was hard to take them all in. But theyre all powerful and have continued to help me outside of Schick.
Cons:
-The nursing staff. For the most part I didn't have a problem. But some of the staff had no bedside manner whatsoever. Some said misogynistic comments. Some did room checks late at night with little regard to patients sleeping. Some argued with other nurses in front of me. Either the nurse was great or the nurse was pretty unprofessional. And I didn't see much inbetween.
-Not a diverse group at all. As a black queer female I felt out of place here. It's mostly white men in their 30s and 40s.

It made a huge difference to know that what I was eating was part of my treatment and not just an afterthought.

I checked into Hotel California sicker than I realized. My intention was to get through detox and the following 28 days, and that was going to be it. I went to Hotel California By The Sea in late January of 2025. I had just dealt with a very dysfunctional attempt at another facility out of state and was so scared to try another but I needed help badly. I was drinking heavily to the point that if I didn't drink enough to start my day, I was violently Ill. I can say I truly felt I couldn't be helped. And so I called Hotel.
When I called they answered immediately and tried to get me in as soon as possible. Again, being my first stint in treatment I was terrified and nervous as all could be. But with my intake I knew immediately I was in great hands. The moment I said goodbye to my wife, I had no idea the real me would be coming back.
They monitored and aided every single step of my withdrawal process, making it as easy as they could. Accomodations were spectacular and the nurses and staff were so friendly. But then it came time for me to decide if I was going to stay with the treatment or just leave after detox.
There was absolutely ZERO pressure from the staff and help there, they just insisted I talk to my wife, who bless her soul convinced me I needed it. And so right then I let them know and they got me situated into a house with fellow patients to begin my healing journey. I stayed in the program they provide for 90 days. Everything with my work leave and payed leave Hotel took care of. They made it so that I didn't have to worry about the outside world, and that I could really focus on getting better.
I am now 8 months sober and awaiting my first child, all of which I never would have thought possible while I was in my drinking dilemma. The care and attentiveness of the staff and medical professionals at Hotel California was unbelievable. Not only did I better my health, they helped me better every aspect of my life. Making that call to Hotel California By The Sea is hands down the greatest decision I've ever made in my life.
Thank you Hotel....

Overall a great program that really has helped me get life together and focus on what’s important in my life and future. She has it out for me for NO REASON whatsoever other than the fact that before my girlfriend got clean, I was a major influence (negatively) for her. I wasn't doing my part as her partner to help her be successful. I was keeping her in her addiction selfishly. But now that her and I are month's clean we're better. But for some reason, her counselor has it out for me. To the point where I'm being told that when I leave a room and this counselor is in there as well, she gives me the middle finger behind my back. Very unprofessional and not something that she should do towards patients not remembering that we patients talk to each other... when it happened I was told almost immediately by another patient at the clinic. She needs to be reprimanded in some way

KTS have changed the way they do things.since COVID they are getting people up to higher steps more rapidly.after just 2 weeks I was put on step 6 and now get a weeks worth of " Carry's" and only have to go 1 time a week. Since these changes there are no lines ever. People are happy going there, atmosphere inside and staff are very positive a complete 180 compared to pre COVID treatment. Highly Recommend
