So upset this treatment center is closing!! Typical corporate decision. I am alive today because of their treatment. Clean & sober for 15 years with no desire to drink, do drugs, and/or binging on both. The comments from the new owners were disrespectful and ignorant about the process. Treatment is not easy in any program, but if it saves lives why end it. Shame on you Universal Healthcare! Many lives will be lost by closing this hospital.

I feel like it needs to be said that no one will kick an addiction in 10 days. Even the traditional 28 days won't end the addiction. There are no shortcuts to the life long journey you are embarking on, if you choose sobriety. What Schick does - is give you the tools, and take away the cravings so you can handle this huge life shift. I have been abusing alcohol for 8 years and finally decided I needed professional help. Schick is working so far for me. I've been 81 days sober as of today. What the treatment is like: There is a daily schedule of meds, vitals, and group. You will spend the mid morning through mid afternoon either completing a sleepy (propofol conscious sedation treatment where they ask you a series of questions related to getting sober, and staying sober) and counseling, or a duffy (ipecac aversion treatment where they give you ipecac and then have you drink alcohol. you quickly become ill to associate drinking with nausea.). Late afternoon are various groups. Pros: -The medical director at the hospital is a true patient advocator. Sabrina is incredible. -The community. I felt safe sharing in group, and gained some friends I imagine will be with me for life. -The counselor John. I've been going to therapy the past ten years, but HE is my favorite person I've talked through my mental health with. Compassionate, empathetic, just a good listener, and has great life advice. He's been there done that, and helped me see some great perspective. His lectures are also my favorite. -The program. Schick gives all of the same literature that any other rehab gives, but also has the aversion therapy, and sedation treatment. -The resources. The media wall, the counselors, the lectures, the movies, the hypnosis videos, the 4 agreements, etc. There are so many resources it was hard to take them all in. But theyre all powerful and have continued to help me outside of Schick. Cons: -The nursing staff. For the most part I didn't have a problem. But some of the staff had no bedside manner whatsoever. Some said misogynistic comments. Some did room checks late at night with little regard to patients sleeping. Some argued with other nurses in front of me. Either the nurse was great or the nurse was pretty unprofessional. And I didn't see much inbetween. -Not a diverse group at all. As a black queer female I felt out of place here. It's mostly white men in their 30s and 40s.

I am giving a 5 star for the most welcoming people that answer the phone. I have tried to get a hold of my doctor for a week, even used my chart. Valerie has helped me through all this frustration and I think she is great. She is so helpful and makes sure my messages are sent but my doctor has been out all week and now she's out next week, returning again on Wednesday. I just wanted to let the staff know that the front desk goes above and beyond to get things done. And I appreciate all of you. Valerie is very kind and understanding and I wish the doctor I have would treat me as important as the ladies that answer my calls. N. B.

I really hope people read these reviews so that employees can get the recognition they deserve! The staff here are just so welcoming, from the physicians to the security staff. I wanted to give a special shout out to Fatima, she has always been so attentive and caring to me during my time with Dr Almond. I was in crisis a few months ago and Fatima went above and beyond to make sure I was seen same day by a physician even though Dr Almond was out. I am doing amazing now on my new medication and Fatima may have saved my life that day by being such a caring and attentive person. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Fatima!

I highly recommend Lakeside. Bill is an amazing counselor that truly cares about peoples recovery. He has a great ability to not only hold you accountable while teaching you what you need in the early stages of sobriety but also keeping the mood in group positive with laughter and smiles. I am forever greatful for him and Lakeside.

Bill's class has been very powerful and positive. I've learned so much in the last 5 weeks than I have ever known in my life. The tools that I'm taking with me will be utilized in my everyday living. Also, I've been in Rebecca and Rae classes and found them to quit wonderful teachers too. Bill has been someone that I looked forward to seeing 4 nights a week..then I transferred to 5 nights a week to Bill's class..And also the office staff has been great..Chris is someone that I liked listening to when he teaches...Thank you to all the Lakeside Milam staff for doing such a awesome job...

Very professional and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Group sessions were fun and informational, learned a lot about addiction and the steps to stay clean.

I found the IOP program exactly what I needed. Great Counselors that addressed my personal issues. All the Staff was very helpful and professional. The schedule allowed me flexibility in my personal life. Highly recommend this program for those needing an effective IOP.

Overall a great program that really has helped me get life together and focus on what’s important in my life and future. Slight downside is a particular individual staff member should really change his attitude towards patients he speaks with. Alcoholics/Addicts need compassion and help, not arrogance, attitude and indifference. Besides that my journey has my spirituality at an all time high compared to when I arrived.

I learned so much from their outpatient program. Dulcinea helped change my view on life and Gwen and Andrew have been great teachers. Marisa is awesome. Thanks yall.
