About Oxford House Red River
Based in Alexandria, Louisiana, Oxford House Red River is one location in a network of self-sufficient, internally run, nonprofit residences for sober living. This location is a men’s only transitional residency that can house 8-15 people. As a sober living home, this can be an ideal option for individuals who have already completed intensive treatment and feel comfortable living independently while they engage with outpatient treatment.
This residence is found in the suburban locale of Rapides Parish. It’s located in a residential area with local parks, museums, and other recreational spots not too far away. Its nearest supermarket is just a 10-minute walk away, with many other food spots also within walking distance. Central Alexandria and Red River itself are accessible within a 10-minute drive.
Admission to this house is done through a selection process. You can fill out an application if there are vacancies. If you’re shortlisted, you’ll be interviewed by current house members. If 80% of the house agrees that you’ll be a good fit, you’ll be accepted.
This house guarantees a sober and drug-free living space for all involved. It relies on mutual aid from organizations like AA and NA, with residents expected to participate in these support groups during their stay. The household is also democratically run by residents, with ‘officers’ elected to serve in six-month terms, not unlike in a fraternity or sorority. Residents in recovery are responsible for their daily routines, chores and household expenses. Individuals can stay for as long as they remain sober and can pay their share of household expenses. Most residents tend to stay for just over a year, while others stay for several years at a time.

Other Forms of Payment
Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.
Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services
If you undergo cognitive behavioral therapy in Louisiana, you may engage in role playing, face your fears, and learn to calm your mind and body. These techniques are designed to help you recognize unhealthy patterns of thinking and to learn healthy ways of coping with challenges.
When you participate in dialectical behavior therapy, you'll work on recognizing distorted thinking patterns that are guiding your emotions. You'll learn how to change these patterns to eliminate unproductive reactions. This involves developing better coping mechanisms to handle stressful situations.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
