My letter to the CEO about my experience with Dr. Tiffany Jones of Signature Health in Beachwood, OH. I thank you so much for linking with me. I was hoping to share with you my very first experience with Signature Health today. I went to the Beachwood location and met with Dr. Tiffany Sherrae Jones, who by my research has been a Neurologist and Psychiatrist for nearly 15 years (so I assume she knows her field of study pretty well). I had anticipated this appointment. My doctor quit his practice, so I waited months and drove 40 minutes to see Dr. Jones. I had a delightful talk with Jessica (the nurse) while I waited for the doctor, until I was put on a virtual chat with Dr. Jones who was very late, arrogant, dismissive and extremely abusive in her care manner. She made it known that she had another appointment to get to within the first three minutes of our conversation, showing me that she had no intention of understanding who I was or what I needed.I have a combination of ADD/ADHD. So when I get nervous It is very difficult for me to speak, let alone piece together in conversation a complete thought as I tried to answer her questions. The stigma attached to my diagnosis alone makes it incredibly hard to be listened to, especially when you can t get the person you are speaking with to stop berating you. She stepped on just about everything I had to say, raising her voice with a cold flat tone when I was unable to get to the point, because I was stuttering from stress. I verbally told her at least three times that she was upsetting me, causing me anxiety, while placing my hand on my chest to add emphasis to the upset she was causing with her behavior. Each time I expressed that I was overwhelmed, because of what she was doing, she responded using phrases to let me know that it was my fault (fyi people with ADHD self-deprecate enough-add that to the current emotion in the situation). Phrases like WELL YOUR E NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS; THAT S NOT WHAT I ASKED YOU angrily and cold, scolding as if I was a battered child trying to explain my way out of a corner. In her position of authority, I was vulnerable. What she did with her power, was abusive.I am a teacher, I am a mother and I am a logical, human being. I have also worked in the medical field and taken care of people who were vulnerable as well. I am 37 years old and I have had ADHD my entire life, yet have never been pressured this recklessly by a care provider. I thank God in Heaven, that I do not have severe mental issues and am not suicidal. I had to remove myself from the room and walk out of the appointment. I held my composure leaving, but what she did was borderline abusive. She battered someone that she knows by profession, could not defend herself in the moment. I just needed to make sure I made this clear to someone who would understand the gravity of what happened. Thank you very much . Hi Jonathan, a nice woman by the name of Shayla from Client Services reached out to apologize profusely about my experience with this doctor. I appreciate her candor. However, I am troubled at the thought of Dr. Jones being able to intimidate/bully/psychologically abuse another patient.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
12-step icon12-Step
Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in Ohio is often recommended for those completing a drug rehab program. When you leave the structured setting of rehab, returning home can trigger relapse due to the abrupt change in environment. Men's and women's sober living homes act as transitional spaces to continue developing tools for recovery before fully re-entering society. It gives you time to adjust to the demands of life, in a setting that is free from substances.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. The Dual Diagnosis/IDDT Program recognizes the special needs of the dually diagnosed adult challenged with both chemical dependency and mental illness through treatment that concurrently addresses consumers’ needs to maintain abstinence from alcohol and other drugs and stabilize mental illness.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

When you quit smoking, your body experiences withdrawal because it's not used to the absence of nicotine. When you use nicotine replacement therapy in Ohio, you get controlled amounts of nicotine to ease these symptoms without the negative effects of the other chemicals found in cigarettes.

In late 2024, I began actively exploring additional educational options for my children, including contacting multiple schools and maintaining email correspondence regarding potential enrollment. My children have been unschooled/homeschool in full compliance with Ohio law for the past two years, with all necessary documentation properly certified. At no point have they been educationally neglected. Recognizing that my children were struggling socially and emotionally, I sought family counseling at Signature Health to support their confidence and mental well-being. However, Ms. Williams failed to provide any resources when I requested assistance. Instead of engaging with me, understanding our educational approach, or offering guidance, she made an unfounded CPS report against me. Ms. Williams never communicated her concerns directly, never asked for documentation, and never verified any facts before making such a serious and damaging accusation. As a mandated reporter, she has an obligation to act responsibly, and in this instance, she failed completely. This has caused unnecessary stress and hardship for my family. Went there for family therapy VOLUNTARILY ... TO HELP MY FAMILY. But T'iara Williams the kids counselor called CPS to do a welfare check because I legally homeschool my children. NEVER GO HERE!! Everything you say will be USED against you. They WILL NOT help you if they disagree with you even when you are within your legal rights. She has also led the kids into conversations my children weren't directing. She told my daughter she talks about games too much and she wants to know more about the arguing at home. She then asked a series of leading questions. She hung up when she thought CPS showed up. Clearly no one informed her about school choice or civil and parental right. Horrible. Not a mental health facility for helping people. PLEASE ASK FOR Practitioners licensing and proper documentation before making an appointment. Do your research. Know who you are speaking to. (Lesson learned)

I think the doctor and the nurse were exceptionally nice as well as the secretary administration but the combination with Central intelligence health agency following people around stalking them harassing them stopping them from paying their bills stealing their things rigging their cars So there windows can go down they follow you around in packs unless people don't want to be followed by Central intelligence healthcare agency keywords Central intelligence agency I would expect you to run as far as possible unless you want to pack of people following you everyday 24/7 trying their best to blend in with society but in fact you can see them before they even see you

My experience has been very positive thus far with Dr. Delasos. I've never felt rushed nor dismissed by her; she's always given me the opportunity to talk, and I appreciate that she shows empathy and concern, which really helps to build trust and creates comfort in having to talk about some dificult topics. Any questions I've had about medications, she's addressed them comprehensively. I would certainly recommend Dr. Delasos.
