About Heritage Psychiatric Health

Telecare’s Heritage Psychiatric Health Facility is a residential mental health treatment center for adults in Oakland, California. Can you tell that they care? Read on and see.

This unit can hold up to 26 people at a time. Here, you can receive acute psychiatric care from licensed therapists. They provide a structured, secure setting for you to recover. Their support will help you reduce and stabilize your symptoms throughout your stay.

I like that this facility is designed to be as homey and comfortable as possible. There are several spots around the center to relax and recharge. During your time here, their multidisciplinary team will focus on restoring your mental health and helping you work through your challenges. Some of the people you might work with include nurses, social workers, psychiatrists and therapists. They’ll offer a variety of therapeutic groups for you to participate in, as well as outdoor activities.

Something that sets this facility apart is the fact that they make all of their meals on site. They have a dedicated dietary department that coordinates with the treatment team to create and deliver meals for all the residents. This means there isn’t a meal service that comes in and delivers frozen food you have to reheat. It’s all fresh just like you’d have at home.

This place is so amazing. This was my very first time on a 72 hour hold in a psychiatric facility so of course I was really nervous. The floor staff is amazing and very comforting. There was times where I was emotional and they would give me a hug and give me words of encouragement. The nurses are so sweet and really listened to what I needed. I felt very seen and heard by my social worker and psychiatrist. They really worked with me on a great treatment plan. I felt very happy here. The food was really good and I was very well fed. All the staff here is amazing. I loved the activities they had for us. I got to do drawing, outdoor time, coloring, yoga, etc. I enjoyed my time here very much and if any of the staff are seeing this review I just want to say THANK YOU. You all truly saved my life.

A lot of inconsistencies regarding information provided by staff towards patients and their loved ones. They do not treat their patients with the care and respect necessary for individuals who are in crisis.

Food was really tasty, but I didn t get my social worker for like a week. Apparently mine got fired and they didn t replace them for me. Had to do some investigating myself to get someone to help me. Staff can be very friendly, and the night staff are definitely not. There is a solid community when it comes to the staff who handle the group sessions for music, art, etc.

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.

As a bipolar person dealing with psychosis, this is the last place you want to go to. Barely any contact with any type of doctor (less than once a day) they cold turkey took me off of 2 medications one of which I had gotten withdrawal Mania from in the past from trying to get off of. The other of which was a benzodiazepine that literally could have caused seizures from cold turkeying. Also I was pounding my head in for 20 minutes a day and non of the nurses said a thing.

So my husband is currently here. The 2 stars are for the nurses and therapists that he likes. The lack of the rest well, where do I begin. Let's start of with the i think I know it all psychiatrist, who is trying to put my husband on a medication that he has had a bad reaction to in the past. And by bad, it caused him to go completely manic. My husband has tried to explain that to them, to no avail. So I called to try and explain it to them and got rudely told if he goes manic we'll deal with it when it happens. You do realize, if he goes manic he's going to be away from home longer? And the psychiatrist has to make that call. Yet his therapist says he's fine, the nurses say he's fine to come home. Then let's go to the fact that he can't even see our 5 month old son. So who the he'll do I call to get my husband home? Because that's not clear. And with the nurses being rude, I'm not in the mood to deal with any of them again.

Very poor service there’s no communications from them plus the food is horrible and you can only see her for 30 minutes. It’s between 7 pm to 8 pm in Oakland. The staff seems not happy and unwilling to make her visit better. They don’t even reach out to me to tell me what’s going on with her Care very poor communications.

My son was admitted here, but he was not treated properly. He was first 2 day without any medicine and then they were giving him blood pressure tablet and one chuable tablet for anxiety. Actually he need some strong medicine like injection for early recovery. Doctors were not properly traine and lack of experience. All are newly joined. So it's not worth to treat your belove one.

When I stayed here, I was having nausea issues in the morning. One morning, I threw up around 3 am and asked staff for help. They forced me to stay in the bed full of vomit until 8 am, threatening me with a shot to make me unconscious if I stood up. I also saw one of the staff man handling one of the patients aggressively, when multiple other patients stepped in verbally and begged to please be gentle and that it didn’t need to escalate like this - they threatened us with sedating us. “One more step and you’re next!” One of the staff screamed at me and another female patient. When I told my mother, she came down and complained and I was released a few days later. All we got was an insincere apology. It traumatized me even more. This place needs to be shut down. They have no respect for the vulnerable people they are claiming to help. Do not send your loved ones here.
