About Trinitas Regional Medical Center

If you’re seeking drug and alcohol addiction treatment in the Elizabeth, New Jersey, area, you’ll find plenty of help at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. Their New Point location specializes in treating adolescents with substance use disorders and behavioral health issues. By using dialectical behavior therapy, teens can target past traumas and use mindfulness as a powerful tool to combat negative addiction habits.

Their dialectical behavior program treatment consists of two hours of therapy. After a short break and some snacks and drinks, clients will return for the second half of therapy, which focuses on teaching new skills.

You’ll also receive individual therapy with a certified counselor, and some sessions may even include parent or guardian participation if necessary. You’ll learn how to manage stressors and use mindfulness to be better prepared for future run-ins with temptations and triggers. Lmao wanna get trauma on top of your trauma... No? well, long story short i really don't speak or look at my parents much because of the great "Help" as a scared teenager thrown off a wheelchair sent to the ER several times even tied down by straps onto a bed Because of this poorly staffed unit of a health care system whatever you do if you're that parent who sent that small 5 year old to the mix from young to 17-almost 18 year olds May the lord have Mercy on you and whoever you love because notorious know as and forever be Trini-Trash.

The staff that care are overworked. The rest shouldn t be allowed to practice in any capacity at a hospital. The night shift staff sleep on duty - including the ones who look after patients on suicide watch!!!I came down with influenza. My demands to be moved to the main hospital s infectious disease unit were laughed at. A nurse told a flu was a cold, thinking I was too stupid to know the difference to know a rhinovirus from an influenza virus. I demanded to see a doctor overnight and was told no doctors are there. They think I am stupid and don t know there is always an MD and an APA on duty overnight. I got angry and tried to push my way into the nurses station to call 911. Security shot me in the ass with tranqs like an animal. They wanted me to keep me alone in my room for 7 days in isolation. The Psychiatrist told me the nurses would bring me fluids. The nurses told me to wear a Mask and get them myself. By day three I just came only respite from the boredom and torture. They told me to stay in my room. I said so you ll bring me fluids to drink every hour as the doctor prescribed? Their laziness defeated them, and after that I came and left my room as I pleased. My shrink was good, but could only talk with me about 5 minutes a day. The social worker tried to help me but got nowhere really, a couple of nurses were almost caring enough, and the art, music and occupational therapists did the best job they could with patients in miserable conditions. The food was poor to mediocre at best. Only given my menu to choose my meals half the time I stayed (about 2 weeks stay in total) Didn t matter, rarely got my choices anyways. The art and music therapy were the only activities besides the constant struggle to get them to give us a remote for the only TV. 3 x 45 activities on weekdays, 1 on Saturday and Sunday. My pastor called to visit while I was in isolation- they told her they asked everyone with my first name and no one knew who she was- clearly they didn t ask me. Wouldn t let me have visitors anyhow being in isolation so didn t matter.Maintenance could handle fixing the hvac. One wing was 65F, the other 78F when the air broke down on thar wing. The staff only called them to come and fix it after two days when they couldn t stand the stagnant hot air anymore.I wonder how much Trinitas pays the Trenton political bureaucrats to turn a blind eye to a facility that should be condemned and have half the staff barred from any sort of hospital work.If you send your love ones here, you should be ashamed and unsurprised if they never speak to you again. If you call yourself in via 988, you re better off to travel to near ANY other hospital!!!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive a full continuum of care while continuing to live at home. They're often ideal for clients who are stepping down from inpatient care but some clients may prefer to transition into outpatient treatment immediately after completing detox. Many outpatient facilities also offer ambulatory medical detox for low-risk clients. Outpatient treatment generally includes psychotherapy and life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
