If you want to waste some hours of your life just go here! I went into the ER with very worrisome symptoms like numbness in my legs, very slow slurred speech and loss of being able to even walk for a time. By the time I was seen basically all of those symptoms were either gone or had lessened. The symptoms were all blamed then on anxiety, caffeine withdrawals and medication, it took 6 hours to get a diagnosis that could have taken probably only 1 or 2 hours. At this point you would have better luck asking Google what medical problems you have then go here.

They let my 3 year old sit in the waiting room puking and dehydrated for 3 hrs before we even got a room. Then after getting a room it was still another hour until they got her meds for puking and an IV for fluids. If you have a life and death emergency don't go here you will die in the waitingroom. However I will say the Older gentleman volunteer named Hal was absolutely wonderful. Our Nurse Megan was great and she put up with me being a worried mama very well. The Triage nurse was a bit snappy when I told her my daughter had a fever and that her under the tounge thermometer wasn't gonna be right she snapped at me and asked me how exactly I wanted her to take her temp. I then told her in her bottom how I always do at home. Low and behold she did in fact have a fever. Our nurse Megan listened to me and agreed she indeed had a fever even after getting an almost normal temp in her arm pit she got her some ibuprofen regardless of the crappy thermometer. So thank you Megan for taking what I said in to consideration.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Not only they helped me with the right treatment, but they also did right by me. They showed me what compassion means, they made me feel like my life was worth it and helped me to fight for it. They gave me the best service I've ever received.

We had to bring our 2-year-old in tonight after she fell and cut her head open, and I just wanted to say how grateful we are for the incredible care we received. Dr. Collin and Nurse Melissa were both absolutely amazing. They were kind, gentle, and so thorough—explaining everything clearly and making sure we felt comfortable every step of the way. Dr. Collin really helped ease my mind and answered all of my questions with patience and care. From start to finish, the team was prompt, professional, and compassionate. We felt truly taken care of during a stressful moment, and I can’t thank them enough

Nurses are decent, but there is a large push for "best for the hospital" and "not so much best for the patient." I suppose that comes from the top, and everyone is scared they'll get fired if they go against the corporate line.

Doctor Notes: “Additional info: Patient non compliant and defiant. Patient given iv dilaudid prior to scan and still moving.” Patient Response: I would be more professional and avoid using the terms “non compliant” and especially “defiant” when working with a patient that is in and communicated extreme pain. The MRI doctor/tech appeared to be agitated upon entry of lab/testing room. I told her that I would not be able to lay flat for the test because of overwhelming pain. I told her that I was informed that I would be given medication before being brought to MRI Lab. The charge nurse arrived moments later. He said that he must have been on the phone when the order came in. He quickly injected the Dilaudid medication into the IV. There was very minimal wait time before beginning the MRI. I reiterated that I am in too much pain to lie totally still for the MRI. After some time, the doctor or MRI technician entered the room to say that “…you are moving around too much, that’s why your images are crap”…..we are not doing these over… I told her that I am trying and will take whatever I could get at that point because of the pain. I did not return to Ephrata Community Hospital. The next day, I received care at St Joseph ER in Reading. I had spinal surgery 2 days later at the same hospital.

listen to the reviews. go to LGH it’s worth the wait. the only good thing about this place was the lady who gave my son medicine and my sons doctor adam batog, he was very respectful and understanding. whoever took my sons vitals had the nerve to get an attitude with me because i was trying to leave cause they weren’t going to do anything else for my son so i had no reason to sit there longer than the over two hours i was there with NO ROOM ( while i seen at least 3 open clean rooms ) with a 16 month old. adam on the other hand understood my frustration. whoever that lady was is lucky i had my son with me. thanks to her ill take the longer drive to get to lgh next time. lgh offers food for my son, beverages, and toys to keep him occupied.

Go to any other hospital. They don't clean the linens and scabies infections are rampant. Seriously this place is filthy.

I went in April 19 2025. I must say what an amazing staff. I went to the ER Dr Collin was so caring. Listened and explained everything. Did every test to find out what was going on with me. Fantastic! The nurses were so very kind and helpful. Every one took their time . Thank you so much everyone. You are so appreciated.

Exceptional Hospital! If I could give more stars I would. I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews. Mom and I were very impressed with the caring and knowledgeable Nurses, Doctors, Case workers, Physical Therapists, volunteers and others who took extra time and effort to ensure my father was given the care he needed. They took the time to answer any questions we had. I've been to other hospitals in PA, but this one exceeds them by far! THANK YOU EPHRATA HOSPITAL FOR YOUR SERVICE! WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO!

Kelly, I think her name is the head nurse in the emergency department. Is an uneducated, rude human being never have I dealt with a person that just belittled everyone around them communication is the first thing that you learn in college. Tell me why I walked around for 20 minutes because they didn’t know where the patient was Unacceptable and for that charge nurse to be as rude as she is. Should not be taking care of patience.
