About Zion Healing Center | Mental Health Treatment

In Saint George, Utah, right on the border between Utah and Arizona, you can find Zion Healing Center’s Saint George clinic. Here, Zion Healing Center (ZHC) offers innovative outpatient treatments for alcoholism and substance use disorders. This SAMHSA accredited treatment center is in network with all major private insurance carriers and also allows patients to pay with cash, cards, and even with Venmo transfers.

ZHC’s founder has had personal experience with recovering from a severe case of alcoholism and so has dedicated his company to offering excellent, cutting edge recovery services to people who need them. Once admitted, patients can expect to receive regular therapy and counseling sessions.

Guidance Through Every Step of Recovery

The intensive outpatient program comes with a structured curriculum designed to guide participants through the program and through the later aftercare phase. If needed, patients can also get medically assisted treatment to help in the initial detox phase.

The structured intensive outpatient program comprises around 40 hours of therapy accompanied by instructional videos and tasks that patients must complete. The program covers 12 steps of recovery as well as topics like life skills, anger management, relapse prevention, and even financial planning. After the program, participants can also get aftercare planning.

Using Innovative Mental Health Techniques

ZHC includes two innovative technologies in their treatment program. The first is Neurofeedback treatment, a system that measures brainwaves and feeds the information back to the patient. This technology can show how a person responds emotionally to certain behaviors and can be used in tandem with therapy to reinforce positive behaviors.

The second treatment option they offer is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). This system uses magnetic impulses to boost activity in a person’s prefrontal cortex, which is an FDA approved treatment for people with chronic depression and anxiety. With TMS, ZHC offers a helpful solution for people who struggle with anxiety and depression, which so often occur alongside substance use disorder.

I wish I could put less than one star.I was told by Zion healing that they could start my TMS treatment as soon as possible. I need to return to my dental hygiene program at a certain time due to being on medical leave. I made it very clear that if they couldn t do it I would need to find somewhere that could get me in for treatment. In the beginning they were very expressive saying that they could do it and they would send it to my insurance but wouldn t wait to start. I asked many questions about that and so did my partner. They said if worst comes to worst, if they couldn t get the insurance to go through they would bite the bullet. And do my treatment because their main focus is getting me better. AGAIN I HAD A TIME LINE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL.I asked if I m not able to start will I get a refund and they said yes.Weeks go by and I m going in every day for other brain games but not the main treatment (the TMS) I was brushed off frequently when asked when I was gonna start my TMS treatment because I didn t have a lot of time. They said that they were waiting on my insurance. I expressed that I was told that even when waiting on my insurance that I would start my TMS treatment and eventually it would go through. I honestly don t know why I believe them. They just wanted the money. I started to look for other TMS treatment centers and found one that could get me in immediately. They started my treatment and did an absolutely wonderful job. When I asked for a refund because I did not even get the treatment that I needed from the center they ghosted me and I have yet to receive a refund. I talked to the owner and he said that he would speak to my father who is the one that paid for it. He talked to my dad and said that he would be able to get the refund started and never did. What a fraud. It looks like they may be deleting comments. I m not quite too sure. I run a lot of social media too, and I m wanting to look into sharing the information so others don t get scammed. Please do not tell one patient one thing and do another. I will be talking to my insurance because I did not get the treatment that I needed and I m sure they still got my money from it.

Accepted Insurance

Zion Healing Center | Mental Health Treatment works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients often choose to enter intensive outpatient programs (IOP) when they exit inpatient rehab. Others turn to IOP as an alternative to hospitalization. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer high-level care for clients in early recovery and those at an elevated risk of relapse, typically requiring them to commit to between nine and 20 hours of treatment per week. The most prevalent treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and holistic therapies, such as meditation.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs engage in rigorous group counseling, peer coaching, and personal development. Though 12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation is not mandatory. The steps model promotes participants' emotional and psychological healing, which is presumed integral to sustained sobriety. Regular attendance at group meetings is expected. These meetings are free, anonymous, peer-led, and accessible day and night in most communities. Gender and age-specific programs and other specialized formats are common.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Each sober living home in Utah is a residence, not a treatment center. This setting does not provide clinical or medical treatment, but many residents attend recovery groups or outpatient rehab while staying at the home. The setting, also called a halfway house, offers a balance between structure and accountability and living in the "real world," to help people transition from treatment to everyday life.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy helps you in your addiction recovery program by improving your overall well being. Activities can include sports, music, and nature excursions that give you positive experiences, reduce your cravings, and offer the opportunity to reduce your stress. These aid in your addiction recovery.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Absolutely life changing experience! I reached out to Zion Healing in October of 2021 due to my crippling depression and anxiety. I had a wonderful life, a husband that exceeded all of my dreams, beautiful healthy children, a nice home, and the cute little dog, but I just didn't feel happy. Zion Healing had popped up on my Facebook page a few times and I was intrigued with the TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) program. It was a Saturday, I was in a deep dark depression, and my tears just wouldn't stop. I expressed to my husband that I was literally going crazy and thought I needed help. I finally got the courage and called Zion Healing. Cord called me back, and said he would be willing to meet my husband and I later that night after work. We met Cord and KT on Saturday night, at 8:30pm in the office. Cord reassured me we were headed to healing if I was willing to do the work and trust in his process. I started program Monday, and went daily until Decemer. The lessons taught by Cord helped heal my soul from the inside out. It gave me a deeper appreciation for all the blessings I had, and how precious my position on this earth was for every individual I interact with. I did daily Neurofeedback and TMS which helped to calm and settle all the chaos inside my head. The calmness and tranquility resignated in all other aspects of my life as well. I changed my way of thinking, and developed coping skills I still use today. The most beautiful part was for the next 6-9 months, numerous people commented on how something had changed, and how I had evolved into something even better than ever before. I was unmasked, freed in my own skin, for the first time in a LONG time, and it felt exhilarating! I was thriving and loving my existence. As I reflected back on what could have possibly changed, it occurred to me- it was Zions. Zion Healing saved my life. I can't begin to express my gratitude for this amazing adventure. I spent 25 years on numerous pharmaceuticals, and can honestly say I have been off ALL pharmaceuticals since January 2022. I am so thankful for my supportive husband, Cord, and Zion Healing for giving me my life back.

What an experience! I've been an addict for north of 15 years and have tried other methods and programs in attempts to stop drinking, but nothing worked. Zion Recovery showed me what I needed to do to remain sober, and I've been running with it since. The staff isn't just staff, they're family. The equipment is state of the art and the facility is clean and modern. I enjoyed one on one therapy, group therapy and nature excursions, but my favorite of all was animal therapy. I'm grateful for Zion Recovery, for it saved my life and provided me with the guidance i needed to change my behavior and thinking patterns.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
