The staff really seemed to care about me and were nice. They allow family visits, and seeing my kids made a big difference. The program gave me the tools I needed to start fresh at a vulnerable time in my life

I have had three weeks away from this place and I wanted to go ahead and review this place especially given the circumstances of my recovery afterwards.-VA is outdoing you all, how, and why?-Medication I was placed on was entirely way too strong and there was a lot of it.-When talking about my diagnosis with the doctor I was ignored. I don't have bipolar disorder and yet again its in my paperwork because I was an angry and sad "woman".-I know y'all don't come across genderfluid people often, but maybe read something so that when someone says "Any pronouns" you don't look at them with abject confusion. I honestly had to revert to "she/her" will be fine.-Doctors have an air of misogyny and you cannot change my mind about that. Masculine presenting folks got 20-40 minutes of time with the doctor, but all feminine presenting folks got 15 minutes max. All femme presenting folks would come out in tears. I was mansplained my own mental health. Like, I literally go to college for this, yes anxiety and depression make you forgetful, but so do a myriad of other diagnoses.-The techs. There are some amazing techs who are excellent. There are others I wouldn't trust to pour pee out of a boot.

Bourbon Behavioral is the perfect picture of negligence. Please don t go here if you are LGBTQ, a woman, or a person of color. They are not interested in harm reduction of any kind, they will not treat you like a human being. You will be ignored, dismissed, and treated poorly by the staff. The techs and nurses are clearly overworked and underpaid and they act like it. Do not go here.

Accepted Insurance

Bourbon Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Intensive levels of rehab involve 24-hour clinical care in Kentucky. This level of care is for those who have severe substance use disorders and need medical stabilization. Drug dependency can cause extreme withdrawal symptoms when the drug use stops, so this supervised care is necessary to treat those symptoms. Treatment involves 24-hour medical care, counseling, and medications.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

I was there when my BiPolar Disorder went into a major depression almost a year ago. I was extremely suicidal. They were very caring and helped me to start to come out of it. It wasn't all medication. It was therapy and classes too. The staff is awesome!

I went to this place about a month ago for my mental health and I had a very good experience. Compared to the last time i was at a hospital, this was so much better. it was smaller than the hospital i went to prior to bourbon county which was really nice. They are trans friendly and allowed me to have a roommate. Of course, there are some things i have complained about while i was hospitalized such as not having enough entertainment during room time and not being able to contact friends and not being able to contact my family enough. there wasnt any source of music unless the staff put something on the TV. i wish friends could come in for visiting hours and/or being able to call friends. with all these great things, there were some things i didnt like. For example, i didnt get all of my clothes or books that i would have liked to have. other than that, i totally recommend this place!

Loved it , but would’ve thought you’d be able to call your therapist more and talk to them .

They were way to pushy about people who didn't feel good. They always kept us trapped in the rooms longer than intended then we have the fact people get hungry easily but when they fall asleep it's a "problem" and "must be reported to the doctor" just because we don't want other people knowing our issues. I hated this place and they relate themselves to the ridge when they haven't heard how bad it is. The ridge has kids die unlike them and that was like 5 people died while my friend's brother was there. One of them happened to be a 5-year old kids with schizophrenia
