The new men’s inpatient treatment center is incredible! I’ve been to many treatment centers in my life and I can honestly say that this was one of if not the best I’ve been too! The staff all have their own strengths and the format is perfect if you really want to change your life. The therapist that comes in to help is powerful and I couldn’t have asked for more

I cannot say enough good things about Center Point DAAC. For years there were no services for men that wanted help with alcohol and substance abuse through MediCal in Sonoma county. Fortunately this is no longer the case. This facility opened in December 2024 and has helped many suffering from AUD and SUD already. It's a new and clean facility. Staff members are amazing, in particular my case manager. You can tell they are truly sincere in helping others find the path to sobriety. I finally feel hope again. If you or someone you know is in need of help please don't overlook this place. I would highly recommend it.

I was a walk-in patient. I was not mandated by a court order and I was in contact with them weeks before my intake and I was told so many things that did not happen. First off let me just say this is not to try to throw shade at the men and women who work there and are the counselors. They are doing the best that they can, but they are severely understaffed and taking in everybody they possibly can because that’s what the state wants them to do. I was not mandated by the court, I have been through treatment before in New Jersey and I had more options in a halfway house than I did here at Centerpoint where my insurance is paying something like $20,000 for my 45 day experience. And let me tell you what I experienced. I was immediately told to take all my clothes off throw on some scrubs and take a shower as they meticulously, went through my belongings and took all of my clothes and washed them, and then put them in the dryer on high heat to kill the nonexistent bedbugs that they believe I might’ve brought in with me from The hotel room. I was staying in for five days in preparation for this intake. I wasn’t even there an hour and I wasn’t able to call anyone. I wasn’t able to eat anything I wasn’t able to have my belongings talk to a counselor and in no way shape or form was I greeted With a warm welcome shown around the place or have the structured schedule explained to me in any way shape or form. I was told my case manager would handle all of my requests, but what I wasn’t told was that I wasn’t gonna be able to meet my case manager for another two days. Before I entered treatment I told one of the counselors that worked there. I had been sober for 21 days and I was headed back to Santa Rosa to get into treatment. At first I was told they weren’t able to save a bed for me. Then after six days of not hearing from them, and as I made my way back to Santa Rosa, I was again told something really strange. I was told it’s OK if I relapse before I come in. That may have been OK for her, and maybe it’s good advice to one of the 39 other inmates of centerpoint, but it wasn’t OK for me to hear coming from a counselor at a rehab rehabilitation center where I was willingly going to help. Keep me sober. I am on Medi-Cal, and Medi-Cal is not accepted by most of the treatment centers here in Santa Rosa with the exception of this one. They treat you like you’re an inmate in jail and in some ways I got treated better in jail and had more liberties than I did in my 36 hour experience at Centerpoint. I left this morning on my own volition because what I really wanted was structured treatment tailored to my disease like it says on their website. Not once was I shown where anything was or given any sort of clear, concise explanation of what they expect from me or what I could expect when I walked through the doors. And let me tell you I arrived an hour early and had to sit in my girlfriend‘s car until 1230 when they decided to open the doors to the people who wanted treatment. After I left today, I called my friend who has been sober for almost a year now, and she confirmed the treatment at Centerpoint was not up to par. I also spoke with somebody in Rohnert Park who runs a sober living house who has agreed to help me get into that house and he also confirmed centerpoint is not really invested that much in helping People get clean, they are invested in getting the money from my insurance provider and then sending me off into the group meeting. That really was us sitting around watching a Disney movie from 1998, and then me coming back to my room seeing how it had been tossed and searched for contraband. I had only been there one day and I couldn’t put up with another 44. Treatment at CenterPoint DAAC is like being in jail, but you get to wear your own clothes.having said that I found treatment somewhere else and I would advise you if you’re looking for treatment to do the same.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.
