My first interaction with her was actually over the phone while I was vacationing in Hawaii. Right away, I was struck by her incredibly calming, soothing voice, she literally sounds like a real-life Siri, and her encouraging advice to keep moving so my joints wouldn't stiffen up. When I first started seeing her in person, I could hardly walk. Because of commitments to my own clients, I was forced to keep working through the pain, which was incredibly difficult since wedding photography is a physically demanding and tedious job. Tina was my saving grace. She customized a set of stretches that I now use before every wedding shoot and during every single break. Thanks to her expertise, those stretches completely transformed my joint mobility. Bayside Marin has many Veterans, Cops and Firemen as patients. Perhaps the disaffected reviewers found it difficult to accept the presence of soldiers and cops. Some of the younger patients had spotty health plans---that could cause anxiety. Yet I've never read so many accusations backed with so little evidence...... This was my first detox. It took me another year to quit. Bayside is posh with nice architecture, furniture, computers, view and food. A kind and caring staff of pros. I never felt discounted or dismissed. Our group was supervised by a nice Argentine nurse....An eight day detox. I should have been placed with the old cops, firemen and SF union folk. But as always, I was placed with the youth. 80% of us were veterans. I admire the young veterans, but I had little in common with them. Yet it was the first time in my life I got to hang with soldiers and Vets. I have unending gratitude toward Bayside for their treatment and to the VA for sending a wretch like me to find a cure. Cornelius Sulla 1 month ago Bayside Marin is an excellent treatment center, I'd rate it #2 in northern California. At first, I didn't want to go here, mainly because of negative reviews and hearsay from an acquaintance, and corporate ownership. But I quickly changed my mind. I came here devestated by a very traumatic year of my life, in as much of a mental health crisis as I was in a substance one. Throughout the length of my stay, I was treated with understanding, patience and compassion. The bulk of their program is cookie cutter evidence based, but high quality. The employees at Bayside really care about their work, and their clients, and because of this it didn't have a corporate feel, even though they're owned by Acadia. What made this stay extra special for me was the therapy and one on one conversations I had with staff. I had the honor and privilege of working with the best therapist I've ever seen. When there's a true match with therapy it can be magical, spiritual. I have transformed into a better version of myself because of the one on one work with my therapist, whose intelligence, wit, patience, and compassion helped me to rise above and shine, despite facing some extremely challenging triggers in residential this time. When you can't fully care about yourself, sometimes you can borrow someone else's faith in you until you're able to care about yourself a little more. By the end of my stay, I felt more confident and centered than I had in a long time. I also wanted to say, the tech supervisor helped guide me psychologically and spiritually as I faced various challenges at Bayside, and helped revive my interest in spirituality, meditation and awakening. I had the best spiritual and psychological support I could have asked for, which I thought would be impossible after being at Olympia House in 2022. (Both are good rehabs with their unique strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot at both, but they're not directly comparable, OH is a little more unique in terms of approach and programming. Bayside was extra meaningful because of the particular therapist I worked with, the behavioral technician supervisor I mentioned and the particular clients I bonded with. They actually listen to client feedback and I watched them make numerous improvements over the three months I was there. With that said, there is room for further improvement. Clients are shuffled over to the main campus from detox with very little explanation of where to go and when, which leaves freshly detoxed clients confused, angry, and feeling disrespected. I've been told they're working on fixing this problem. Scheduling glitches do happen, but that's true of any medium or large rehab. They do their best. And also, sometimes communication can be a little complicated between departments. No place is perfect. Gorgeous campus. Food was great. I was told this was a rehab for rich people who valued aesthetics over content, but that's not what I found here. They have some incredible talent working for them and client socioeconomic backgrounds are mixed. 2026 update: I've had to return to Bayside and things have only gotten better, taking my review from 4 stars to 5. A lot of mediocre therapists have left, replaced by excellent ones, and they have made subtle but noticable improvements to the programming. I'm SO grateful for Bayside Marin, one of the finest treatment centers in northern California and perhaps the country. Last. I would encourage people, strongly, to ask to change their therapist if the initial assignment isn't a match. I did, and it made all the difference in my stay. Several months ago, my brother was in a very dangerous place in his life. It got to the point where we feared for his life on a weekly basis and knew we had to do something urgently. Our family staged an intervention and successfully got my brother to agree to inpatient treatment. After extensive research, I found that Reflections was our best option, and I believe choosing Reflections is a decision that may have saved his life. From the very first phone call I had with program director Olejan, I felt a level of genuine care, intelligence, nuance, and humanity that Olejan brought to our conversations. He wasn't trying to sell us the program or anything like that. We had heart-to-heart conversations that made me feel like Reflections would be our partner in my brother's recovery. I felt confident in the credentialed clinical team they have there with Dr. Hanna, and reassured that the level of care my brother would receive would be top-notch, with more one-to-one therapeutic care than what most inpatient treatment centers could offer in Los Angeles. My brother's main therapist at Reflections was Stewart Bryant, and they formed an amazing relationship that my brother cherished during his stay. Week by week I would check in with my brother while he was at Reflections, and just hearing him progressively become more clear-headed, alert, deeply reflecting, emotionally available and vulnerable and willing to speak about everything, working through foundational issues in his life, being more optimistic and committed to his sobriety - it was so profoundly encouraging to see the signs of his work at Reflections really taking root. To any family member reading this while desperately searching for the right place for someone you love: Reflections was an amazing option and I highly recommend you reach out and speak to Olejan who will wholeheartedly address any concerns you may have about Reflections being a good match for your family member in need of treatment. From the helpfulness and warmth of the Executive Director, who made the transition from detox to rehab seamless, to the drug and alcohol and mental health counseling by two top-notch professionals, this program was intense, positive, and effective. The environment was safe and welcoming because of the trained, warm, and supportive staff. Almost everyone there was in recovery so they walked the walk. The accommodations were beautiful and peaceful, and the food was amazing and plentiful. Evening AA and NA meetings were available to clients who chose to attend. The staff helped to facilitate hard-to-navigate responsibilities, such as going to doctor's appointments and the California disability office. I came in having zero knowledge of how any of it worked and Alicia was able to answer all of my questions and help with whatever was needed. I felt that Alicia truly looked out for each client. As a technician, Gus really took the time and effort to help me with the entire process. I was clueless when I first walked in but I felt taken care of and looked after. I felt that Gus really cared for all of the patients on a personal level. He tried to connect with each of us and shared his knowledge and hope with the whole group. Overall, I felt safe here. Which is huge when dealing with addiction and being afraid of asking for help. I was able to worry only about my recovery knowing that everything else was being looked after. I recommend to anyone dealing with addiction needing to separate themselves from their substance as the first step on their recovery journey. I learned so much about myself and finally live my life with more authenticity, calm and ease. This was my first time in recovery; I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t expect the settings and houses to be so beautiful, quiet and welcoming. The houses are large while keeping the number of women living there small. Eight women is a common number, ages range from 24-70 which sounds impossible but it somehow works! Rooms are shared with one other roommate close in age, or single rooms are available. The food is made daily from fresh ingredients by a committed group of chefs, one of which will break out in song! They tend to make more vegetable dishes than carbs. It sounds to good to be true, but, the program was not what I expected and exceeded my expectations. Group classes and activities like swimming, hiking, and outings are scheduled everyday. NA, AA, Dharma, and other types of support groups are attended in the early evenings. These meetings offer support and help to familiarize clients with various types of programs available in their own communities. Daily group and twice weekly one-on-one therapy sessions are led by practicing, licensed, and published women therapists who are on the cutting edge of women’s recovery, trauma, and the building of life skills for navigating addiction. I learned so much in a short time and will continue to be grateful to the staff for their insights and dedication. A lot of the negative reviews here seem to come from people who expect results without consistency, honesty, or responsibility. Recovery is not easy, and no clinic can do the work for you if you are still trying to manipulate the system instead of change your life. From my experience, the staff here have always been respectful, supportive, encouraging, and available whenever possible. At the same time, people need to understand that counselors, nurses, and staff members are dealing with many patients every single day — including individuals who repeatedly miss appointments, ignore expectations, or waste the time and energy of people who are genuinely trying to help them. Staff members are human too, and I think many of the complaints fail to recognize the amount of patience required to work in this environment day after day. What stands out the most to me is that this clinic encourages actual recovery and accountability instead of simply handing out medication and sending people on their way. If you consistently show up, communicate honestly, and take your sobriety seriously, the support is absolutely there. I also want to specifically recognize the director, Kim, because she is honestly one of the most compassionate, respectful, genuine human beings I have ever met. The amount of patience, understanding, and support she gives to people — even during difficult situations — deserves recognition. She has played a huge role in my recovery journey and continues to support people however she can, even when she does not have to. Running a program like this cannot be easy, especially while dealing with so many different personalities and situations, but she continues to show professionalism, empathy, and strength every day. At the end of the day, recovery only works when the individual decides they are truly ready. No program is perfect, but in my experience, the people working here genuinely care about those who are serious about changing their lives.
