About Reflections – Executive Dual Diagnosis Rehab

Reflections Executive Dual Diagnosis Rehab in Novato, California, is a treatment center that specializes in providing customized dual diagnosis treatment. They’re staffed with a team of therapists, healthcare practitioners and licensed doctors. The programs offered at this facility include residential treatment and medication assisted detox.

Enjoying Nature in Novato

A nice thing about this facility being located in Novato is it’s not far from Olompali State Historic Park. When you complete the residential program, you can go for a hike there as a new sober activity to enjoy. It also offers areas for picnics and horseback riding.

Luxury Accommodations For Your Comfort

The staff aims to make the facility feel as much like a home away from home as possible. It features various amenities that can support your recovery, such as a private room, a pool and spa, and an on site fitness center.

One thing that is different about this facility compared to others is that you will be allowed to have electronics during your stay. You can have access to your phone and laptop to stay in contact with your loved ones or ensure that your business keeps running.

Additional accommodations offered at the facility include a game room and an executive chef. The game room provides you with a means of decompressing and connecting with other clients in between your treatment sessions.

Multiple Therapeutic Approaches to Support Recovery

One other thing I like about this facility is the variety of therapeutic approaches that will be used to help clients recover. Some specialized therapies that are offered are art therapy, equine therapy and music therapy. Additionally, the facility will ensure you’re getting the nutrients you need to heal through meals prepared by an executive chef.

Those struggling and/or in need of help, Reflections is the perfect place.Reflections is differentiated in a few ways. First, their approach is holistic; it's about more than just getting sober. The program includes reading and educational sessions, group discussions/therapy, individual therapy, and a personalized recovery plan. The professionals at Reflections are fantastic with a wide range of issues, including co-occurring disorders. And my program was tailored to involve my loved ones as much or as little as I preferred. Second, as much as it's possible, it's a fun and enjoyable experience. The food is phenomenal, the facilities are beautiful and well-maintained, and the environment is friendly and collegial (with both staff and fellow residents). Third, and most importantly, Reflections is one of the (if not the only) independently owned facilities in the area. This means that staff optimizes around what's best for the resident, and not what's just best for insurance. They truly care about each individual far more than the bottom line, which is apparent in both treatment issues as well as collaborative payment/insurance resolutions.I have two pieces of constructive feedback. One, I recommend stronger communication channels and coordination between the clinical staff and the operations team. I can only imagine how challenging it is to handle the ever-shifting complex operations at Reflections (e.g., living arrangements, staffing, scheduling, speakers, unforeseen individual needs), so it's no easy task. But occasionally there was some confusion on schedule changes with session content and/or timing. However, we were able to quickly resolve these issues as they were raised. And second, my arrival/onboarding was a bit scattered and piecemeal. I did arrive last minute, and my situation was unique (as previously discussed with staff, I moved between the McClay and Simmons facilities after a couple of days). But I would recommend that one staff person be assigned the holistic onboarding process that's completed/reviewed as the resident is acclimating to the program. Those two issues are minor, but I wanted to be comprehensive in my feedback.I built very strong relationships there, ones that I continue to value and maintain months later. I get together with my fellow residents, and I love seeing staff members at meetings and events around the Bay. I feel like I have a new lease on life. I am not happy that I spent time in a facility such as this, but it being necessary, I am thrilled that I chose Reflections for this brief chapter of my (new and much improved) life.

The six weeks that I spent at Reflections was a lifesaver. In particular, I appreciated their respect of my wanting to be treated like an intelligent adult and one who is not interested in the AA program.

Accepted Insurance

Reflections – Executive Dual Diagnosis Rehab works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Reflections saved my life. The entire program is incredible. The staff is truly amazing, the owners, the directors, the nurses, the program managers and assistants, the chefs, every single one of the takes time to personally care about each of clients individually, we are seen and heard and they truly love and care about us as people. Even in life after reflections I know I can call any time day or night if needed, they will remember me and help me even if it’s just a moment where I only need someone to listen. There is no other program like this and they go out of their way to really strive for the success stories the first time around. And if it takes another round they ensure you are a priority and know it’s a matter of life or death . They will do everything in their power to save your life and make a person want to be saved. And the bond you form with your roommates can last a lifetime. Mine have become my family. I will forever owe the life I have today which is happiness and loving myself to Living at Reflections. If anyone is suffering from any type of addiction or mental health illness this is the place to find yourself again, the person you deserve to be and love. And you’ll never have to feel alone ever again. I am forever thankful, grateful and so very blessed to be an alumni.

I have been working with the Reflection’s treatment team for the last 12+ years. It is one of the few remaining privately owned facility at this level treatment. We have had a huge success in recovery with the people that I’ve referred. I highly recommend Living at Reflections’s for people with a complex diagnosis.

Reflections is an incredible recovery center. The amenities are fantastic, and the location in Novato is prime for recovery as the Marin county sober community is one of the best in the world. Most importantly, the staff are incredible. The medical staff are extremely well qualified, and helpful. The clinical staff and PAs provide the best care and guidance I’ve ever received. Even their chefs are great, and the food they prepare is amazing. This facility and all of it’s employees are truly commited to helping their patients succeed in sobriety, and recover physically and mentally. All while providing a safe, healthy environment where you can tell the people around you really care about what they do. They give you the tools and knowledge to you need to get clean and stay clean, while also promoting healthy habits you can maintain after leaving. I will forever be thankful to them and consider myself lucky to have been a patient there.

I am a counselor, interventionist and recovery coach. I have placed more clients at Reflections than any other facility and my work spans through the US. This last client actually stayed 90 days. It was the most incredible experience to not only work with the staff but to watch the transformation of someone who had suffered with their addiction for decades. Thank you to everyone at Reflections who continues in the trenches to not only help people recover but save lives. Until next time Monique Cook Coach for Recovery

I’ve been meaning to write a review in gratitude of this home away home since I left not even a month ago though it feels like much longer. First off; if you or someone you love is seeking help/care you will not find a better program anywhere in my opinion. If you have any reservations, doubts, fears; put them all aside and allow theses beautiful people to care for you. They supported me in my most vulnerable state and regardless of how trying it became and much I felt I was weighing upon them they handled it all with grace and respect. The most difficult part was leaving, and I think that says it all. Thank you all so much for the opportunity you gave me and though all of you deserve my undying gratitude I just want to give a specail thanks to John, Ollie, Louise, Leo, Isa, Steven, Joseph, Richard, Irma, Elise, and Sherea. You all hold a special place in my heart and I hope to one day ‘’pay forward” what you paid unto me. Josh

My experience at Reflections was profoundly healing and restorative. From the moment I checked in, I was surrounded by folks who obviously cared about my recovery, including the Clinical Director himself, the amazing therapeutic staff, the program assistants, the attentive nurses, and even the chefs who prepared our delicious, healthy meals. Every one of these folks invested personally in my journey back to wellness and, by the end of treatment, I counted them all as dear friends. I am now six months out of treatment and my new life is a miracle that I never thought possible. Let me offer a few well-deserved accolades . . . First, the educational program itself is outstanding. I received in-depth information on a wide range of subjects, but most importantly about the disease processes (including the neurophysiology) of addiction, which helped me understand exactly (i) why I had been so profoundly affected by my substance of choice and (ii) how to use this knowledge to build a comprehensive, concrete, evidence-based life plan for long-term recovery. It was profound. Second, the clinical program is highly effective. In addition to bi-weekly meetings with the Clinical Director, each of the residents is assigned (i) a personal therapist to assist in identifying and addressing the deeper, emotional aspects of our addictions and (ii) an amazing relapse prevention expert who helps the residents design practical, personalized plans (also evidence-based) to avoid future debilitating relapses. I still look at my own plan every week. All of this work fits hand in glove with the educational curriculum I describe above. Third, all of this takes place in beautiful surroundings that facilitate close bonds among the handful of residents (usually 5 or 6) in treatment. We had many powerful group sessions, fabulous shared meals, outside activities (including recovery-based meetings), art and music therapy, yoga, and plenty of time to hang in the common area playing cards, watching movies, or just talking about our lives. We shared these valuable informal times with a number of trained program assistants who were available to share their own personal recovery experiences and offer personal encouragement. Fourth, the amenities are outstanding. Outdoor covered fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub, bobcats that prowl the hillside at night, comfortable private rooms with desks and plenty of closet space, and great food. Unlike many other treatment facilities, at Reflections you get to keep your computer and phone with you during your stay. I felt a little spoiled by it all. Finally, Reflections has a great after-care program to help graduating residents shift back into the real world. I spent the ten weeks following treatment in Reflections' remarkable IOP program, which meets three days per week. This allowed me to take continued advantage of Reflections' recovery support while transitioning back to work. The clinical director of IOP is a fabulous guy who offers great, practical support during that transition. He also runs a weekly Zoom-based alumni meeting that's available to all graduates. What more can I say? I entered Reflections in pretty rough shape, and I emerged from the program confident in my own recovery, physically and mentally sharp, and super optimistic about the future. It is a lot of work but, if you are willing to work hard and take your recovery seriously, I cannot imagine a better place than Reflections to launch your new life.
