AVOID. I have been coming to Family Health Centers for several years and after my experience today, I am finally calling it quits and seeing what other providers accept my insurance plan. This place is full of doctors that don t listen, care, or provide meaningful solutions or services in any way. I have been working with general care and psychiatry for over 4 months looking for a simple solution to sleep-related disorders from PTSD. I have gone to cardiology at their request, had a sleep study done at their request, I have done everything they ve asked and still I have been offered NOTHING to improve sleep. Nothing. I ve followed every request, I am free of drugs and alcohol, there is nothing I can do to get a simple sleeping medication to improve my quality of life. The insomnia and lack of functioning throughout the day is simply not taken seriously or maybe it s because of my living situation, either way, being judged unfairly has clearly affected my standard of care. My rib complaints and right-sided pain and stiffness, a debilitating chronic condition I have suffered for over 10 years, also dismissed and taken no place. Offered yet another round of x-rays, which I ve completed more than 4 times, as well as MRI. The experience at Family Health Centers is abysmal, it s all about scheduling the most appointments they can fit in per day - you have maybe 5 minutes in the room with the doctor, and it is abundantly clear that the clock is ticking in every appointment, before you can finish discussing your concerns, they are rushing you out the door and the appointment is over. It s all about taking government money at this place, NOT getting you better. I may sound annoyed in this review, and I am, I implore anyone who reads this to look elsewhere for physical and mental health services, you will only be wasting your time on the road to improvement should you choose to receive services here.

They are a great community service and I was glad to have them! I really Dr Hazelbaker. It's hard to get in when you need to. And they seem sometimes to mess up my payment methods and confuse and scare me but the care is great.

If you would like to go to a place where nurses and front desk staff judge you and spread negative narratives about you to the other staff so they can judge you just the same then this is the place for you. Which is unfortunate because the doctors seem very helpful. I'd rather die slowly than come back up here and be made fun of and treated less than a human being. I wish the best for them and thier patients. They may see this post and laugh but it's just a testament to their behavior. SMH

Accepted Insurance

Downtown Family Health Center at Connections works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

I was in a transitional program and family health was in charge of it along with ECS a promised me they would pay for me to get my peer support training certificate they promise to pay my move-in cost like deposits and help with rent and furniture whenever I moved out of the transitional unit they did not do any of it they told me know after they told me yes and they bullied me over there at the transitional place they discriminate they would not let me have any type of AC in my room and it was over a hundred degrees in the room I went to the hospital for a heat stroke and they still just did not care they are the worst people in the world most definitely liars especially Ida. She does not know what the she's doing. She's the one that said yes to everything and then no and when I needed glasses and they paid for them before to help me get them and this time they're telling me know and I can just figure out how to pay for everything on my own after they're just liars

My son is a dependant adult, 41 years old. We saw Dr. Turner. From the moment we entered the lobby until our appointment ended everyone was kind, professional and friendly. The wait time was reasonable and the nurse who escorted us into the exam room was sweet, friendly and caring. The doctor had the most beautiful bedside manner. He cared enough to read through my son's medical record so as to familiarize himself with my son. He was a kind, considerate, medical professional and we felt cared for. My son and I both felt comfortable and appreciate the care he received today.
