7.76 / 10 | Villa Kali Ma is a holistic treatment center in Carlsbad, California, that offers addiction recovery services for women. A unique thing about this location is it uses treatment practices from both Western and Eastern medicines. My experience at Villa Kali Ma was truly transformative\. From the beautiful surroundings to the incredible staff and supportive environment, I felt genuinely cared for throughout my time there.
What stood out most was the holistic approach — it wasn’t just about one aspect of healing, but about reconnecting with yourself as a whole person. The space felt peaceful, nurturing, and safe, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people who supported me along the way.
Villa Kali Ma will always hold a special place in my heart. I left with a deeper understanding of myself, new tools, and a renewed sense of hope.
I’m so grateful for this experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a compassionate, holistic environment for healing and transformation.

For reasons I hope to one day understand, I have more experience with rehab facilities than most, certainly more than I care to think about. I drank alcoholically for years and had plenty of experience getting DUI’s. What I didn’t have was the self-honesty to accept I had a problem. After 12 years of trying with little success, the team at Present Moments moments helped me learn how to live an honest, sober life. It honestly didn’t happen on the first try for me, I’ve been met with a warm welcome back to PM more than once. Sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly - that’s what the Big Book of AA says. Today, with five years of sobriety, my life is beyond anything I ever dreamed could be mine.
I took my 29 year old daughter to detox for heroine addiction for the first time at 15! She has been to 100’s of treatment facilities in the last 14 years, but can’t stay clean. Sometimes quickly, sometime slowly. My experience with her in the 3 years before she turned 18 was that maybe 1 in 10 treatment facilities can be trusted or has any integrity. Present Moments is the 1 in 10 without any doubt.
Ask my 25 year old son what he thinks of PM, he’ll say they saved his life too. It’s a long story, but my son ended a 7 year daily 1/5th of vodka habit earlier this year, checked into PM with a 4.1 BAC I might add for color, spent 30 days there and just celebrated 6 months as a sober man. He says he was existing before, PM and Alcoholics Anonymous showed him how to live.
In an industry full of ‘money first, care second’ and ‘one size fits all’ treatment centers, Mark and Amy put care first and somehow find a way to figure the rest out.
I learned how to live a sober life in 6 months at the PM sober living house. I learned how to get honest and accept that I’m an alcoholic in 5 weeks at PM recovery. Amy even created a new supervisory program for me to get ongoing care and comply with a court order while living at home for 5 months. That’s what I mean by ‘figure the rest out.’
My sober son who now works at a local treatment facility, is a miracle that started at PM. My entire amazing life started with lessons I learned and help I received from the people at Present Moments Recovery. PM is a rare example of clinical excellence, unquestionable integrity, individualized care, and creative problem solving.
6 stars out of 5 for Present Moments Recovery

Carlsbad, CA | Montecatini Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Carlsbad, California, offers a huge array of services to help individuals find success in eating disorder recovery. Monte Catini was a place where, for the first time in a long time, I felt like I wasn’t just a diagnosis. My treatment team was incredible — supportive, attentive, and genuinely invested in my recovery. The director of nursing, especially, made a huge difference. She listened, she cared, and she helped me feel safe in a body that often didn’t.
Most of the staff went above and beyond. I was surrounded by people who made me feel human again, and that mattered more than I can say.
That’s why my discharge was so painful.
When I spoke up about what I was struggling with — not to act on anything, but to ask for help — I was discharged. It felt like the decision came from fear, not from understanding. I wish the CEO had taken the time to hear me out, to collaborate on a plan instead of making me feel like I no longer belonged there.
I didn’t want to leave. I was doing the hard work. I just needed more support — not a closed door.
Despite how it ended, I’m still grateful for the care I received at Monte. I grew a lot during my time there, and many of the people I met left a lasting impact on me. I just wish I had been given the chance to stay and keep going.

Montecatini Review – by Kelley Goode
Montecatini was, for me, a place of deep transformation, held together by a handful of truly extraordinary people. I came in uncertain, fragile, and afraid—but there were individuals there who showed up for me in powerful and lasting ways.
Alixe, my therapist, was nothing short of phenomenal. Her ability to cut through the noise and get to the heart of things is a gift. She is fierce, insightful, and deeply compassionate—a force to be reckoned with. The work I did with her was some of the most meaningful therapy I’ve ever had, and I will carry it with me always.
Janel, who served as one of the house moms, held such a loving and nurturing presence. Her warmth, humor, and grounded care made all the difference on hard days. I will be eternally grateful for her steady kindness and for the way she made the house feel like a safe place to land.
Lexi is an intelligent and wise woman who clearly lives by her values. Natalie has a heart of gold while still being able to “throw down” when needed—fierce and loving in equal measure. Katie brings together wit, intelligence, and humor in a way that makes her instantly magnetic. Emily, although officially the exercise physiologist, could easily be a therapist with her deep ability to listen and truly hear people.
Glee made me feel seen every single day, simply by saying hello each time we passed. Yasmine is elegance defined, with a wicked sense of humor that always made me smile. Dr. Morache is one of the kindest, funniest, most loving men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting—an absolute gem in the field.
The BHA team are the backbone of the program—dedicated, tireless, and deeply compassionate. The nurses bust their butts in a very hard situation, and their work deserves immense respect and recognition.
Not everything was perfect—particularly the food, which often felt like an afterthought in an environment where nourishment is central to healing. But despite that, the human beings at Monte—those who truly show up—are what made the experience valuable.
To those staff members who gave their full hearts: thank you. You helped me find parts of myself I thought I had lost.

Carlsbad, CA | Aria Mental Health is an outpatient mental health treatment center in Carlsbad, California, focused specifically on mental health rather than addiction. It offers a full step-down continuum, including a partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient, standard outpatient, and telehealth, for teens, young adults, and adults. The through-line i | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Walking through your doors was one of the most important decisions I've ever made. I came to Aria looking for help, but I found so much more than that. I found hope, understanding, encouragement, and a team of people who genuinely cared about my healing.
Every staff member has played a part in my journey. You have given me guidance, patience, and knowledge that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You taught me healthier ways to cope, helped me understand myself better, and reminded me that recovery is possible even on the hardest days.
I also want to thank you for creating such a well-rounded program. Bringing in people from Guiding Hands, along with those who led yoga sessions and other wellness activities, made a tremendous difference. Those experiences gave me moments of peace, helped me reconnect with myself, and showed me the importance of caring for both my mind and body.
The house I stayed in was also wonderful. It felt safe, welcoming, and supportive—a place where I could focus on healing and building a better future. Every part of the environment helped me feel at home during one of the most important chapters of my life.
Thank you for believing in me, even on the days when I struggled to believe in myself. Your compassion, dedication, and support have helped change my life in ways I can never fully express.
To anyone who may be considering Aria for mental health or addiction treatment, I wholeheartedly encourage you to give this place a chance. It has truly changed my life, and I believe it can change yours too. The people here genuinely care, and they will walk beside you every step of your journey.
Aria will always hold a special place in my heart. It will forever be my number one recommendation for anyone seeking healing, hope, and a fresh start.
Thank you for helping me become a stronger, healthier version of myself. I will never forget everything you've done for me.

Detox is the process of weaning the client off of the abused substance and removing the chemicals leaving | Treatments Programs Payment Options | My experience at Restore was genuinely meaningful. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with dignity, compassion, and respect during a time I needed all three.
Everyone I interacted with made an effort to understand me as a person, not just someone going through a difficult chapter. I felt supported without feeling judged, and cared for without feeling like I had lost my independence. The environment was comfortable, private, and much more welcoming than I expected from a detox and recovery center.
The combination of care, structure, support, and genuine human connection gave me the space I needed to ground myself and think clearly about what I wanted to do moving forward. Restore and the people there had a real impact on me, and I left feeling stronger and more hopeful than when I walked through the doors.
I would absolutely recommend Restore. Asking for help can be one of the hardest decisions someone makes. I’m grateful Restore was there when I made mine.

So what do I say about Steven and Restore Detox Centers? When I entered through the doors of this facility, I was a completely defeated and tormented soul as a result of the ravages of addiction.
I had arrived at the end of myself!
All my own ideas about how to live my life had failed me, but THIS is precisely where the LIGHT stepped in and met me; in the total darkness of my own demolition, destruction, degeneration, degradation and demoralization.
I was hopeless!
I didn't believe that I could recover from this seemingly hopeless state of mind and body and like the song by America, "Lonely People" states, I believed that "life had passed me by."
Well, here I am some time later, and I can HONESTLY share with you, from the very Top of my heart, that my life is indescribably wonderful now.
My seconds and minutes and hours of each day were filled with torment and dread!
Now, they have been replaced with enthusiastically looking forward to seeing the wonderful friends that I have made, the smiles and hugs that I am greeted with, and the super cool testimonies that I get to continuosly hear!
I was asked to take some simple steps (12), not easy but simple, and I was told that I didn't even have to believe.
I just had to take these simple actions and they would result in an experience that would prove their effectiveness.
If you're in a place of abject bewilderment and confusion and you have come to the end of yourself, please know that a new You is waiting to emerge; a new, Regenerated, Rejuvenated, RESTORED, and Reconciled (to Self, Family, Friends and God) version of You is waiting to be born!
And an acutely wonderful place to begin this journey is with Steven and his kind, caring, warm and empathetic staff at Restore Detox Centers.
"Don't give up until you drink from the Silver cup and ride that Highway in the Sky!"
Let the journey begin!

When my son experienced a relapse, he was only at this facility for a couple of days, but those three days left a lasting impression on our family. From the very beginning, Steven treated both my son and us with genuine compassion, honesty, and respect. He didn't offer false promises or sugarcoat the challenges of recovery, but he also never lost sight of our son as a person who deserved hope and dignity. It was clear that he truly cared—not just about getting someone through detox, but about helping them find a path to lasting recovery. As a parent, feeling understood and supported during such a difficult time meant more than I can express. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and authentic concern we experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where people are treated with both compassion and accountability.

I can honestly say that what Rachel did for me in our individual sessions fundamentally changed the way I understand myself. AToN saved my life, and I don't say that lightly as someone who completed their program two years ago and has stayed sober since. Dr. Kevin's approach to clinical care is unlike anything I encountered in years of outpatient therapy. He has a way of cutting through the noise and getting to what's actually driving the behavior, without ever making you feel judged or reduced. The group sessions, the holistic work, the food, the grounds - all of it creates an environment where healing doesn't just feel possible, it feels inevitable. If you're on the fence, please get off it. This place is the real thing.

She truly thrived, growing in confidence, accountability, and self-awareness.
The facility is beautiful and creates a peaceful, healing environment. There’s also a positive, uplifting energy—it was important to us that treatment felt like support, not punishment, and Cole Ranch delivered. We especially appreciated the small group setting (only about six kids), which allows for individualized attention and meaningful peer connections.

Most importantly, she left with real skills she’s already using at home. My daughter’s mental health symptoms showed up at age thirteen. It seemed like overnight we went from having a typical child who enjoyed spending time with family, playing with friends, reading books, going on outings to just wanting to die. It was a very scary and confusing place for our family. I tried and tried to find providers who could help her. She went to multiple providers and programs with little change. After our insurance changed, we were able to start treatment at Evolve. From the very beginning, I felt that we were in good hands. The staff are well trained and the program is well designed. My daughter’s behaviors and our family’s communication patterns changed dramatically. After four years of feelings as if I had lost my daughter, I have my daughter back. I’m grateful that the providers at Evolve have extensive knowledge and experience with teens with mental health issues, and we finally got the help we needed!

Evolve did wonders for our teen. I'm sure it's hard for them to get reviews as this is such a private matter. The whole process is utterly heartbreaking. You don't end up here because you wanna be here. That being said they worked with us as a family so well. I really liked that. They involve you in the treatment and try to ensure that you will have the tools necessary to help your child continue on their path of healing. The path is BUMPY, and it heartbreaking. I remember graduating out of program thinking I don't know if I am ready to do it without them. They helped us navigate tough topics and issues our teen would shut down on us with. Helped us see each other's sides. Helped our teen see themeself. When we graduated out were ok and we did move forward on our own. As a family we are so thankful for the staff at Evolve and the forever impact they have made on our child's life. The skills they shared, our kiddo still uses. Our kiddo really had a connection to the staff. There was also a pet lizard that meant a lot to our kiddo. There's so much I could say about this place. But the biggest is just two words FOREVER THANKFUL.

Kick ass, down to earth, mind , body and spiritual experience. Small program but individualized for personal growth.
My trip there was some what short due to needing a higher level of care....but I will return for PHP and IOP.
Elliot: Right from the first phone call, Elliot clearly articulated the therapeutic approach, making me feel confident. He emphasized both group and individual therapy, which was exactly what I needed.
Nicholas: As a facilitator, psychologist, guru, and teacher led with experience . Nicholas felt like a guide, he helped me tune into my inner self, enabling me to make better decisions. His presence was transformative.
Angel: Angel, my therapist, didn’t give me answers, she guided me inward. Her support was constant, and she advocated for my transition to a higher level of care.
Megan: The bodybuilding doctor next door, Megan, got me moving! I wasn’t one for working out, but her energy and care had me feeling so good, I even attempted to give back by cleaning the windows. Lol I actually ruined the sticker with her logo and she took it with a grain of salt. I will replace it . (^-^)
Every interaction was tailored, making this program truly special. I have learned so much and they allowed me to grow towards the goals I've wanted to have for years.
Not at all the sit and be bored type of atmosphere. More like sit, share, breath, learn , walk, have fun, place to cry, safe place to be, and a spot where I got totally honest for the first time in many moons. I strive to be better by their guidance and compationate ways they have taught me what to do.

I have been here several times. I always find the facility clean and the staff very friendly, pleasant and professional. Yes, getting an appointment a take some time but no more than in the civilian world these days. I feel like the doctors and audiologists here are not as rushed as they are in the civilian world allowing them to focus more on the patient than how fast they can get to the next one.

Their levels of care include detoxification, residential treatment, partial hospitalization treatment, and medication-assisted treat | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This place brought me hope, healing and insight into the complexity of what I was going through. Not only was I able to see the underlining issues I had internally, but I was also taught about the workings of the brain which I don’t think a lot of people know about. You can really get a feel for how much the staff truly cares about recovery. It’s obvious that this line of work is something they pour out their hearts into and that it’s not just a job to gain a paycheck. The facility is more of a home setting with a limit of 6 clients so the care is personal, intimate and in depth. The food is amazing with a fantastic chef that cooks daily meals for the 6 clients. My therapist was pure gold. Firm to call me on my B.S (thank God because I needed this)but also super caring and able to lead me to uncover things about myself I don’t think many people could. All your personal outside life responsibilities and issues will be taken care of through a great case manager. He will work along side of you to make sure your covered while your there and set up for success when you leave. You will leave feeling like you have been adopted into a family!!

I came here for recovery and detox after some traumatic events occurred for my very first admission. This place is fantastic. All my needs were met and not once did I fear for my life. Here you are in good hands with the ever so kind, hardworking, and diligent staff. The home you stay in has individual rooms which is a HUGE plus being that you get your own privacy. The food is absolutely fantastic, and the rules that are in set in place are for your own personal safety. You will have freedom to explore the beautiful property here in San Diego and even get out and explore some of the beautiful attractions around the area multiple times during the week. On top of the medical expertise, delicious food, and the fantastic staff. You will also receive the best therapy one can possibly hope for. You will leave here with all the tools needed to continue a beautiful life of sobriety. 10/10 recommend. Please do come and see it through. You won't regret it :)

This place is predatory, as in they are money hungry and prey on addicts under the guise of helping them. They are only friendly to you when you are paying them; anytime after that, they will treat you with disrespect and intimidation. They use outdated statistical information and attempt to brainwash you into being dependent on them. While there is a lot of useful information and services they can direct you toward, this third party company is only interested in taking your money and treating you as less-than-human.
In my experience, Dale Walters, the in-take coordinator and class teacher, was only friendly toward me when I was paying him money for the program. Afterward, he treated me with disrespect by insulting me in front of the rest of the class, talking to me as if I were five years old and consistently disregarding my personal space by knocking over my water bottle and saying, "oh, I don't care about anything beneath my knees." This has been my experience and I hope it helps shed light on the poor practices of this company and its employees.

This Place is for people who want their life back.. But don’t know how to Because they need opiate just a function before they can do anything.
I arrived at MAT Treatment a shell of a man 6’2’.. 170 pounds injecting Heroin several times a day and cross addicted
I had always been told methadone was a drug and not real Recovery… but I was desperate.. Fentanyl had just begun to circulate and people were already dying, and I was scared.
With some apprehension at first, I started on the program.. Within 2 Months, I stopped relapsing off of opiates altogether.. By one year, I was mostly sober 95% of the time with the occasional Xanax slip… By the end of two years, I was on a stable, methadone dose, working as a reliable employee that I am, Have a nice condo with a family that trusts me and daughters that respect me…
In the end, if I could recommend something to people in my position… Who cares what people say about methadone?.. Go talk to doctor an addiction specialist, who know more about your addiction than you do.. Who test Blood plasma level levels to ensure you are not lying about how your dose is affecting you… It serves as a placeholder now. In the morning, I take one fourth of the amount of methadone I started off on and I get some sanity that day and my brain gets a break from dreaming about drugs.. I’ll take that trade 10 out of 10 days… And this place has the best kind of counselors with resources who care, who will talk to him for over an hour if you need it.. And then answer the phone to talk more
Don’t have any preconceived notions on methadone treatment, come and take it one day at a time and if you don’t like it, just go back to doing drugs

Very small and intimate you don’t have to worry about dealing with the extra drama that comes with large facilities. Your literally living in a mansion on the hills with a group of ppl that will quickly become your friends who comes from all over. Out of all the facilities I’ve been to this is def the best especially if your older and prefer to be around more mature individuals. There was never a strict schedule for fresh air or smoking, nor eating. The chef came in 6 days a week and your free to enter the kitchen. They had a little snatch bar as well that’s stocked full of great snacks and a fresh pop corn machine. This my stay was the winter to spring months of 2019 I’m pretty sure it prob hasn’t changed much. Oh and the rooms are amazing I never had to share a room it included a walk in closet and amazing bathroom with great vanity that I never had to share!!

Angelo and Mike were just the best. I'm not making this up!! I was nursed through detox and completed the in-patient program. Today I have hope joy and love. Not mention a bigger tummy.
Beautiful pool, sauna, ping pong and plenty of literature to get you back on track.

After struggling with addiction, I made one of the best decisions of my life.
Checked in 11-20-2021 and checked out 12-19-2021. The house was comfortable and welcoming. Watching the sunsets from the backyard was like a postcard. It was nice to have a pool and hot tub. Would have been nice to have exercise equipment. I liked the small atmosphere. The maximum clients is six. Made some great friends. The staff was amazing, minus a couple of people. My case manager was there to help me with anything I needed from filling out FMLA, filing Short Term Disability, setting up aftercare, and everything inbetween. The groups were informational. We were taught how to live a life of sobriety. The seven hour daily groups got monotonous towards the end. The therapist left some to be desired. She was very nice, but we didn't learn much about CBT or DBT. I was looking forward to having a therapist for the first time, but I only ended up getting an hour one on one session the thirty days I was there. The food was fantastic. Pete, Dom and Amy are great chefs. I gained twenty pounds! Two months sober and looking forward to many more. I highly recommend California Highlands Vistas if you're struggling with addiction.

As someone who was very hesitant to try an impatient program, I couldn’t be happier that I found this gem. Everything from the admissions coordinator (Kim), to the private driver from airport (Todd), to my intake at the house (Hans, Reif, Edith, Josh), to the private chef (Danielle), to the supervisor (Sam), to the case managers and therapists (Robert, Ligi, Jess), everyone made absolute sure that this seemingly scary experience was far from just that.
The care/medication management was on point. The private chef cooked some of the testiest meals I have ever consumed. The views of the pacific were absolutely incredible. I used the onsite home gym and hot tub daily. They even had onsite accupuncture and yoga. The group therapy content and material was life changing and foundational in my recovery journey. Each of the 6 bedrooms in the house has a unique vibe and special touch. I was so thankful to have access to my laptop as a working professional, and my phone to stay in touch with friends and family. We even had outings to go shopping, walk the harbor and pier, massages, kayaking, and whale watching. Chapters Capistrano saved my life and will never be forgotten.

I stayed here for a week in December 2025. I read reviews on my ambulance ride over because I had never been in a psychiatric hospital and was terrified, and the reviews made me even more scared, but I really enjoyed my stay at Aurora. I was the only female in an all-male unit, which was scary at first but all the nurses were so nice and helpful, and the men were very respectful and kind. I was placed in the SUDS unit (for detox) since the MOOD unit (usually mental health) was full, so I got to sit in some sobriety groups with the men, which was also very informative and educational. We did music therapy, got to watch tv and listen to music in the small rec room, and I was able to join processing groups that were really helpful.
The food was great too, breakfast wasn’t the best but dinner was usually really good, and the nurses would let us bring food back to our unit and store in their fridge, which was so kind. We asked the nurses to go outside and if they were nice, would take people out for smoke breaks for about 10 minutes too.
The only reason they get 4/5 stars is because the communication with clinicians kind of sucks. I was there on a voluntary stay and was told I was free to go when I pleased, but apparently doctors are less inclined to discharge people on the weekends since it’s a long process. I ended up having to stay for a week instead of only 4 days, which gave me a sense of being trapped there and I had a hard time accepting it. The processing groups helped me cope with it, but I wish it had been better communicated.
