About AToN Center

One unique thing about this location is that it offers alternatives to the traditional 12 Step program. Some of those non-12 Step treatments include SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery, LifeRing, Celebrate Recovery and more. We also offer physical fitness and meditation. Amenities at this facility include a pool, a jacuzzi and an onsite chef.

During rehabilitation, staff members will use a combination of Eastern holistic healing techniques and Western recovery practices to help clients with their addiction. Some of the evidence based treatments that are available at AToN Center are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other similar therapeutic approaches. Clients will receive 24/7 support from the staff, with regular review of the treatment plan to make necessary adjustments. Patients will participate in three holistic treatment sessions per week. These treatments may include acupuncture, massage therapy, hypnotherapy, personal training and yoga. AToN Center uses holistic medicine to help promote self healing.

Most residents will stay at the facility for 30 to 45 days, with the timeline varying based on an individual’s specific needs and goals. If a client is suffering from a more severe form of addiction, they may need to stay at the facility longer. Residents will be able to have access to their electronics to stay in contact with friends and family.

I cannot recommend AToN Center highly enough. Jim and Patricia founded AToN for deeply personal reasons, and their commitment to creating a supportive, evidence-based, individualized, empowering, and holistic treatment experience definitely shows. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and supported, and I was treated with dignity and respect. The program emphasizes treating addiction alongside issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions rather than focusing solely on substance use. AToN Center embraces the notions that shame does not promote recovery and a single modality does not successfully meet the needs of every individual who is seeking recovery. AToN is unique in providing individual sessions with licensed mental health providers daily (Monday-Friday), which can include EMDR and IFS/parts work. The family session helped my husband and me move toward healing our relationship. In addition to having group and individual therapy sessions, we had the option of holistic sessions including massage therapy, yoga, personal training, acupuncture, mindfulness/meditation, sound bath, hiking, and (most importantly ;) pickleball. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the chef-prepared meals are delicious and made with care (so much so that I gained 5 pounds haha). Most of the staff seem to have been touched by addiction, and their compassion, curiosity, and encouragement shine through. As a mental health professional, meeting and connecting with other professionals who struggle with addiction and trauma was such a validating experience. Because of horror stories I had heard about other residential treatment centers, I was frightened to go to AToN, but now I couldn't be more grateful (including that my insurance covered treatment). If only this program was available in every state; the world would be a much better place.

There are experiences that change the texture of your life — and then there is Aton. I came here not knowing quite what to expect. I am leaving a different person. Not a repaired version of who I was. Someone new. Someone I actually recognize. I have been in all sorts of expensive therapy for twenty years, yet I have never worked with clinicians and staff members of this caliber. The excellence here is real, but what makes it rare is that it lives alongside genuine, unhurried care. It sort of felt revolutionary to discover that people like this exist. The clinical breadth is extraordinary — EMDR, IFS, CBT, DBT, ACT, hypnotherapy, and hybrid methodologies that meet you exactly where you are and help chart your own path forward. The group sessions deserve their own mention. Capped at six people, they never feel like group therapy in the way you might dread or see in the movies. Each session presents real tools you can actually see yourself using in the the real world, neurobiological explanations of the brain-body connection, Melinda's amazing jokes, and honest conversation about what it actually means to recover, not simply abstain. But Aton understands something most treatment centers don't: healing is not only a mental act. The holistic modalities — massage, acupuncture, personal training, physical therapy, private yoga, and hypnotherapy — are not amenities. They are medicine. And they invite you to receive all of it in a luxurious residential estate setting with lushly landscaped grounds that are, frankly, breathtaking. And the food — I am a committed, health-conscious eater, and Aton's epicurean program is world-class. Not a single lunch or dinner repeated. Breakfasts that feel abundant. And all dietary needs or preferences accommodated. I came to Aton to work on myself. What I didn't expect was to fall into a relationship with myself — and leave with self-love for the first time. That is not a small thing. That is everything. If you are considering Aton: go. Let these people love you and remind you that you are everything!. Whatever version of you arrives, something truer, new, and exceptional is waiting on the other side.

Joel, hearing that you left with self-love means more to us than you know! We can provide all the tools out there but until someone is truly at peace with themselves those tools just serve as band-aids. We truly hope that you continue to grow that love as your recovery journey grows. Keep in touch and when you get six months we'd love to have you speak to our current residents. And we agree, Melinda's jokes are amazing ;)

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

AToN Center works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.

AToN Center's 12 step rehab programming recognizes that education on the most widely used recovery tool in the industry is, and should be a core programming component for any addiction treatment center. The facility believes that a person’s choice of which type of community support meetings they attend should be an informed one. That is why we explain recovery concepts from an integrated perspective, discussing the tenets of AToN Center's philosophy and the 12 Step philosophy.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

AToN Center specializes in the treatment of substance abuse & co-occurring disorders. Their integrated services approach offers each client the opportunity to engage in a variety of addiction treatment methods. the facility conducts three hours of group therapy and one hour of individual therapy daily. Family sessions are also offered and encouraged. It is their belief that a “one size fits all” approach to addiction recovery can be ineffective, and that each client deserves the opportunity to experience a multitude of therapeutic approaches - known as holistic addiction treatment - in order to create a treatment plan that best fits their unique needs and experiences.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab's clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Fitness therapy for addiction recovery focuses on creating a balanced lifestyle using physical activity to improve mental and emotional health and stability. When you participate in regular exercise, you develop a positive outlet for stress and anxiety, which helps to prevent relapse and maintain long term sobriety.
