After 35+ years of drinking and drugging I had finally had enough. I was way past rock bottom. I was so miserable and couldn’t seem to do anything about it. I had completely destroyed my life by letting alcohol and drugs take over everything. I was standing on my front porch in August of 2021 drunk as ever wanting to die. I had been to rehabs and detox centers over and over and over throughout those 35+ years and nothing ever seemed to work. Something told me to reach out one last time and I thought to myself that if it doesn’t work this time then I am done with life. Here is how I know that my God exists. I dialed the number for a rehab in Chattanooga, Tn. The man that answered was in Murrieta, California at a treatment center called Solution Based Treatment & Detox. They took care of everything and on August 19th, 2021 I was on a plane headed for California. I will never forget the experience of SBT&D. The way that they operate is amazing. They gave me tools to make it through life without all of the nonsense. They showed genuine care and concern for every individual there. You will never find a place as committed to a persons recovery as they are.I learned a lot while I was there and met some really great people. Some of us still stay in touch. The best part about the whole experience, I am still clean and sober! My life is so much better than it was before. I’m not saying that I have a perfect life (it is pretty great though) but I do have an absolute promising clean and sober future ahead of me and it is all because SBT&D taught me that I could enjoy this thing called life without alcohol and drugs. Thank You SBT&D!

MFI Murrieta location is absolutely amazing. Smaller facility makes it much more personal and interactive with the counselors. Always a pleasure walking in to see Mary the receptionist every week. And Joseph, my personal counselor and manager of the facility is very understanding and attentive to our needs. Rebecca the therapist and Erin the other counselor are wonderful people. They have all helped me in so many ways for the last year I have been attending. I would recommend this place to anybody is need of help and resources. The groups are helpful as well as entertaining and my peers are close to me like family. I'm so glad I came here and will never forget what this place and people did for me. Thank you MFI.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience over the past 5 1/2 months here. The receptionist Mary while very busy is warm and welcoming. My counselor is Erin but at times I have also had the pleasure of meeting with Joseph both are extremely caring and professional and always available when you need them. I look forward to the weekly groups they both lead so much so that I even squeeze in additional groups on my days off when I can and they are always accommodating. I don’t know what I would have done without all of the support I have received from both the staff and the amazing friends I have made while attending groups! Highly recommended!!!

*October 2025: My first time getting help & going to a recovery center, everything about Hemet Valley Recovery Center was welcoming, transparent & beyond my expectations. HVRC saved my life & has helped me find my life purpose again.
*Initial phone call: Medicare availability & insurance requirements checked. Told to bring my own pillow & blanket & scheduled for a driver pick-up.
*Drive to facility & intake: Donnie answered all of my general questions w/ a calm drive. I walked through the intake forms, insurance paperwork, general overview of detox & expectations of the program.
*Detox: Supportive Dr. Raja, skilled nursing staff, hospital meals tailored to my nutritional needs & wants, a room to sleep, heal & detoxify my body, I felt confident on my recovery journey. Proximity to the ER is a plus if I needed a higher level of care due to complex medical issues.
*Counselors: All patients are assigned a counselor. Check-ins on individual situations & progress of your rehabilitation process. They are kind, compassionate & loving humans.
*Classes: Daily schedules have a variety of holistic rehabilitation classes. Lectures, experiential groups, healthy lifestyles, meditations, yoga, Native American circles, NA/AA meetings, recovery planning, Men & Women’s groups, Just for Today talks, arts & crafts, HVRC has it. Hands down the best learning experience I have ever done (& continue in my personal recovery plan) was “Pain Group” w/ Sherry Burditt, RN, HN-BC (AHNA Board Certified Holistic Nurse) for 5 weeks. A progressive learning experience allowed me to use self-discovery, emotional healing & spiritual growth to face past demons, learn about my own energy (Chakras) & love myself again.
*HVRC Community: For nearly 90 days, I was immersed in the HVRC family. People you share your days & nights with, along with your thoughts, feelings, assignments & food, to the nursing staff, counselors, administrative staff, drivers, the house senior residents/house managers to daily HVRC volunteers, people are supportive, kind & are there to do what is best for mankind: sustain an environment of caring, client-first vibes.
*PHP (partial-hospital patients): Having lived in both female houses, they both provide a calm & healing environment. I have fond memories of rides full of people to & from the center, trips to the ATM or appointments, NA & AA meetings & Soboba’s talking circle.
*Outings: Nails/pedicures/haircuts, AA meetings, doctor appointments/imaging, ATM, Soboba talking circle.
*Family Weekend: AMAZING experience. Run by Lisa, it is a weekend of family & loved ones learning about addiction. Not just the disease itself, but how to support their loved one in & out of treatment, expectations of their loved one coming home, & a session for me & my family to start the healing process.
*Continuing care & Alumni meetings: Thursday nights: an in-person continuing care program that supports HVRC alumni. Counselors offer support in multiple ways. Next is the Alumni in-person/Zoom AA/NA meeting. A great night for a meeting & connecting with so many others who are going through the same thing that I am: staying clean & sober.
*HVRC Alumni events: President Jeff does a GREAT job sharing where the donated money goes. Helping clients with prescriptions, housing & other necessities, to fun things for clients & staff with auction baskets, sit-down dinners, arts & crafts, hiding Easter eggs & Sam the Leprechaun, supplying treats to buy at the Alumni store, cookouts, individual gifts, Veteran recognitions, & more!! HVRC Alumni is a space for us to stay connected by volunteering, supplying resources or giving money year-round.
*I just can’t say enough good things about my recovery & experience from Hemet Valley Recovery Center. Just celebrated 6 months. I thank both my Higher Power & HVRC for being clean & sober today. As Nike says: “Just Do It”. You’ll save your life or someone else’s. Hugs & blessings from a proud recovering client, Teresa

Very small and intimate you don’t have to worry about dealing with the extra drama that comes with large facilities. Your literally living in a mansion on the hills with a group of ppl that will quickly become your friends who comes from all over. Out of all the facilities I’ve been to this is def the best especially if your older and prefer to be around more mature individuals. There was never a strict schedule for fresh air or smoking, nor eating. The chef came in 6 days a week and your free to enter the kitchen. They had a little snatch bar as well that’s stocked full of great snacks and a fresh pop corn machine. This my stay was the winter to spring months of 2019 I’m pretty sure it prob hasn’t changed much. Oh and the rooms are amazing I never had to share a room it included a walk in closet and amazing bathroom with great vanity that I never had to share!!

After struggling with addiction, I made one of the best decisions of my life.
Checked in 11-20-2021 and checked out 12-19-2021. The house was comfortable and welcoming. Watching the sunsets from the backyard was like a postcard. It was nice to have a pool and hot tub. Would have been nice to have exercise equipment. I liked the small atmosphere. The maximum clients is six. Made some great friends. The staff was amazing, minus a couple of people. My case manager was there to help me with anything I needed from filling out FMLA, filing Short Term Disability, setting up aftercare, and everything inbetween. The groups were informational. We were taught how to live a life of sobriety. The seven hour daily groups got monotonous towards the end. The therapist left some to be desired. She was very nice, but we didn't learn much about CBT or DBT. I was looking forward to having a therapist for the first time, but I only ended up getting an hour one on one session the thirty days I was there. The food was fantastic. Pete, Dom and Amy are great chefs. I gained twenty pounds! Two months sober and looking forward to many more. I highly recommend California Highlands Vistas if you're struggling with addiction.

The outpatient program is designed to suppo | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I don't have words good enough to explain the impact that Elizabeth Everett, NP, has had on my life. I've been going through an extremely difficult time, personally, emotionally, physically and financially. I just got clean off of a 6 year addiction to fentanyl, too, and I can honestly say that if I didn't have someone this astute, professional, experienced, and with the same level of expertise that she maintains in all of the care that she renders to me, I don't know if I would have made it this far into my recovery. I can honestly just about credit her with saving my life, in an incredibly complex variety of ways, that I would have to type pages here to comprehensively explain, and some of the information is even more sensitive than a drug addiction, so this isn't the place. But I can without a doubt in my mind maintain that if everybody had this level of care medically, the world would be a better place. Because ive never felt this level of support before. I know in the back of my mind that my challenges have solutions when I have someone like this on my team. I feel more confident, because I know that during a very turbulent time in my life, transitioning out of an addiction, and with a decade-plus worth of neglected health issues and problems, I have someone who is the best. I honestly didn't know having such a good PCP was like this, because it changes things. NONE of my health problems are being neglected anymore, and I know that the hardest part is already over, because I'm on the rebound now physically. But that brings with it the emotional components, and I have this de-facto proof that the universe loves me and that this world is a good place because I have someone who REALLY, REALLY cares, and has dedicated herself to mastering applying that compassion and drive in the physical realm. She is a golden, illuminating, shining example of what Primary Care should be like. She's the doctor that everyone wishes they had. She does it with grace and empathy. And I really, REALLY don't want to think about what my life would be like if I didn't have her in it. Because when I TRULY needed someone as a good as her to help me seal the deal pushing my way out of out of a lifestyle of self destruction and suffering, she was there. I can NEVER, EVER thank her enough. And I called her a doctor, even though she is technically a Nurse Practitioner, but I swear I never want to be treated at a Primary Care Provider level by ANYONE ELSE, EVER AGAIN. And you can't make me!!

I just wanted to take a moment to share how amazing First Light Recovery is. I’ve had the opportunity to work with their wonderful team and have referred many clients to their care over the years. They consistently go above and beyond to make sure each person feels supported, cared for, and genuinely valued throughout their treatment experience.
Every client I’ve referred has come back with wonderful things to say about the staff, the program, and the level of care they received. In behavioral health, it can be difficult to find a program you truly trust with someone who is struggling and needs the right support, and First Light is absolutely one of those places for me.
Their team is compassionate, responsive, professional, and truly cares about the people they serve. I feel confident referring clients to them knowing they will be in good hands. First Light is fantastic, and I will absolutely continue trusting their team to care for those in need. Highly recommend!

My time here was wonderful! The team was thoughtful in respect to my placement and was so thorough and seedy when it came time to get me admitted. The house staff had a nice diversity and many personalities that made it easy to find connection when I was homesick. My therapist was insightful and offered great feedback and helped me tremendously in the time I was there. She gave me reasonable expectations for what we could achieve together in my time at the house. The psychiatrist on staff was a kind hearted gentle man who made me feel heard and took my thoughts into consideration as we made adjustments to my medication regiment. Some of the groups lacked creativity or seemed redundant but I think that was because some of the staff were reasonably new hires and hadn’t found their groove yet. We had fun outings and had a reasonable amount of freedom while still having structure to get the work done to heal and let me return to my family.

Vista, CA | Located in Vista, California, Choices in Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab for adults with substance use disorders. They also provide valuable community resources, including referrals and family support services. Addiction services offered at Choices in Recovery include mental health assessments, counseling, detox, residential addiction treatmen | Treatments Programs Payment Options | This is the place that I actually decided to change at. I struggled with addiction for more than half of my life- and spent the last 6 years addicted to fentanyl. No one could actually have made me want to change, which can make it hard to evaluate treatment centers. Their performance is really regulated by the individual, who no amount of perfect settings or ground-breaking addiction treatment could actually MAKE recover. So my evaluation of this facility is based on how it gave me, and a surprisingly high number of people, the CHOICES available and necessary to change, should the individual decide to do so. I have never been to another program (I’ve been to 7 or 8 in total) that was as flexible and dynamically willing to meet someone where they are at as this one. Which in my opinion makes it one of the best treatment centers I’ve ever had the good fortune to end up at, by the order of the courts. Or really maybe my P.O. But I was at a point in my life where I wanted something better than what I had and was giving myself at the time, and was willing to grow and benefit no matter what that growth and benefit looked like, as long as it was good for me. And this RTC had, honestly, almost EXACTLY what I needed. The staff was/is VERY caring and genuine, with a lot of skin in the game. As in they’ve all been there. There was a variety of different substances of abuse in the life experiences/stories of the staff and counselors hired to provide guidance and counseling at this facility, which I believe is crucial, because there is no substitution for first hand experience. It’s a large group of life-long addicts that ALL decided to change with the help from others, and now they are able to apply their hard-won experience and education in the field to helping other addicts with the option to change, should they decide that they want something different. I struggled while I was here, but the staff never gave up on me. And when I made small successes and advancements, they were quick to celebrate and encourage those developments with me, almost especially if I hadn’t noticed them yet. Their expertise in emboldening growth and recovery is honestly unparalleled, as the close-knit family of recovering addicts that is the faculty here seems to unconsciously fill in each others gaps and provide a comprehensive recovery-expediting environment, as much as any individual or team can expedite something they can’t really, actually control- like someone else’s willingness to change. So the environment they construct and conduct here is expertly dedicated to providing someone with the CHOICE to change. And luckily, if you’re ready to, like I was, that’s what you need the most! Thank you, Choices staff, for giving me the choices I needed! Love you guys!

Wow I was reading through the reviews and I’m disappointed in all those that had their bad experience!!! I went back in 2004 I was completely broken in so many ways they all called me corn fed cause I was from Oklahoma I was a mechanic there and kept the fleets going I made it through phase 1 and then started the phase 2 and of course I backslid a bit and got popped with a drug test and failed didn’t want to leave and at the same time didn’t want to restart phase 1 all over again and to be honest some of my best nights were digging holes and I always preferred the ground that wasn’t touched and that dirt sparked at night funny thing was most made it a week or so ordeal in thier holes literally a 6’ deep 6’ long 3’ wide hole it was a burial site and I had it of demons to kill and bury, I didn’t mess around though I busted out my holes within hours of starting, I always loved the morning fire side chats and proverbs chapters and pondering in those verses that spoke to me!!! No matter what in life there has to be a certain amount of suffering to grow and if any of you gripe about those sufferings then yall are missing the entire point!!! Bless this place and all that go to it!!!
