What you need to know about Ranch Creek Recovery:
They accept health care insurance. Katie was great in helping me find the right healthcare provider and coordinating enrollment
PRIOR TO ARRIVAL:
coordinate which house you will be staying at (Bass or Dorrien), what day you'll be arriving, how you'll get to the program, pack a week worth of clothes including a bathing suit, books, booklight (if you plan to read, because all lightbulbs are the dimmest possible), and alarm clock (unless you like counselors walking into your space, waking you up randomly).
UPON ARRIVAL:
You will need to be dropped off (there is no personal parking or vehicle storage). You'll go through a search (appropriately, light pocket check and bags emptied) all electronics will be confiscated (headphones, phones, chargers, etc) and stored in a locked closet. Full inventory documented for all items. You will have up-to 3 days to DETOX as needed where you can sleep and rest privately. I personally got bored very fast and decided to join the group early rather than just sleep, but the option is available as needed.
ONCE SETTLED IN:
There is a 7 day blackout period where you are not allowed phone or computer use and can not have visitors or communicate with family/friends (emergency exceptions). There are typically 4 (one hour) group sessions daily, during which either worksheets are used from various therapy resources, or rehabilitation-related YouTube videos are shown. Counselors rotate based on internal scheduling. You'll have 1-2 private therapy sessions scheduled each week for one on one with Leena or Christine both are great to work with and talk to one on one. Meals are scheduled 3 times a day, residents are responsible for cooking their own meals and can "graze" in making snacks/meals as needed.
DEPARTING:
A close-out assessment will be completed prior to your scheduled last day with an emergency safety plan for sign off. A pick-up time will be scheduled, all itemized inventory reviewed with sign-off. an IOP Intensive Outpatient Program will be offered through RCR Ranch Creek Recovery and/or a plan for after care reviewed.
NOTES:
Phone use allowed 1 hour a day at night after dinner, following a 7 day blackout period. Group sessions can be "boring" lots of downtime, lots of staff turnover.
There are two houses BASS & DORRIEN.
Bass is the main property and where groups are held.
Sleeps 6 residents. There are 3 private bedrooms each with a queen bed (one has it's own bathroom, the other 2 share a bathroom), and 1 oversized bedroom with 3 queen beds, another full bathroom by the living room. big screen smart tv, L-shaped old sofa [over-due to be replaced], matching captains chair with footrest [also ready to be replaced], eloquent dining room (dedicated as an art space), enormous dream kitchen with separate pantry room, food shopping is done once a week with a list (residents responsible to cook their own meals), Pool Table, Ping Pong,, Pool (ICE COLD), Jacuzzi (turned on Friday night only, no lights), garage with some gym equipment (you can use during free time), and a large sunny well maintained backyard is accessible.
Dorrien is the "overflow" smaller secondary house about 10 minutes away. Also sleeps 6 total. 1 large bedroom with 3 beds, 1 bedroom with 2 beds, 1 master with a queen bed which shares a jack-and-jill bathroom. TV, living room, hot tub.
DAILY ITENTERARY:
This is where it gets a bit "grey space" ....
There is a plan on paper (somewhere) and then there is reality.
PAPER PLAN
*I could be slightly off, as no schedule was provided
wake up 7am-7:30am
breakfast 8am-9am
9am-12pm & 1pm-5pm group
lunch 12pm-1pm daily
dinner 5pm-6pm daily
free time 6pm-10pm
Tuesday = Sound Therapy (AMAZING)
Wednesday = Yoga (BEGINNER)
Thursday = Fitness Training (NOPE)
Friday = Educational Rehabilitation Movie & Horse Therapy
Saturday = "outing activity" (NOPE)
Sunday = Family visitation 12pm-4pm (last 2 weeks only)
its helpful if youre looking to get clean. The property and people are nice overall.

The residential program offers 24/7 supervisio | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went to SBT a little over two years ago now on march 7th 2023, I was beat down and close to giving up due to my alcoholism and drug addiction. I had been through treatment twice before and didn’t think anything was going to change but I was willing to try. I was placed in a nice house with very knowledgeable and relatable staff members that helped guide me in my early days of detoxification. They kept me hopeful for a better life even though I felt like mine was over. The program they run is smooth and effective, they kept a close eye on me and made sure my needs were met. I can’t say enough good things about the program, my uncle passed away while I was in detox and on black out protocol and they still let me make a phone call to my family because they knew how much it would mean to me. Also had it not been for a counselor named Rachael, I’m not sure I would be sober to this day. She helped me navigate the best course of action to remain in sobriety by showing me all the resources and places I could go for after care both in my home state of WV and other options closer to their program as well. Had I not been made aware of the fact that I could go to boardwalk recovery after SBT I don’t think I would have made it as far as I have now. Thank you so much for helping me get my life back, you all are amazing people!

I completed my methadone program a few months ago after being a long-time patient [6, or 7 years], but I was still using until about 3 years ago. For the first month or two, you have to go there every day, and depending on what time you get there [I always liked getting there as early as possible], there will be a super long wait. If you still use, you will never move up to be able to have take-homes. When you get take-homes, if you use again, they suspend it for a week, at first [so you have to go there every day, again] and then you get your take-homes back, but you get less of them I think? [I did this once after I had my take-homes for a couple months in the very beginning, I dont remember that well. 😅] I stayed on methadone for 2 years before I started tapering, and my taper program lasted another year. The whole time the staff was always kind, and my counselor was always very supportive of my decision to get off methadone, the whole office was. The staff are cool as long as you're doing what you're supposed to. My overall experience was good, I was there when a different director was running things, though.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience over the past 5 1/2 months here. The receptionist Mary while very busy is warm and welcoming. My counselor is Erin but at times I have also had the pleasure of meeting with Joseph both are extremely caring and professional and always available when you need them. I look forward to the weekly groups they both lead so much so that I even squeeze in additional groups on my days off when I can and they are always accommodating. It feels weird posting a review of a rehab, facility, huh? Well, if it helps make anyone feel more comfortable and confident in seeking help, I guess it's worth it. I did a medical detox from benzos here. The staff are all wonderful, caring people, who take good care of you and try to keep you comfortable and safe. With their treatment, I felt no withdrawal symptoms and aside from some drowsiness, no side effects. The only possible complaint I have is the food, but it kept me nutritionally satisfied, and that's enough. It's not a vacation.
If you feel like you need to make a change in your life, or got referred by your doctor or a family member, I fully recommend the place. Recovery is hard, but they'll do their best to make the initial (and scariest, IMO) detox process as easy and comfortable as possible.

Pros: Caring Staff, Balanced Groups, Decent Food as far as rehabs go. Visits are allowed on weekends after 7 days.
Cons: Occasionally some clients that need special mental needs met slip in the cracks and it is difficult to replace them where they need to be.
It seems like corporate has the budget in too high of a chokehold, I can't imagine 50+ men at a rehab do not facilitate a higher budget than what is currently allocated. Clients shouldn't be able to feel this.
If you are not keen on a lot of men around you, consider other options with smaller populations. If you are heading here without a choice, talk to your counselor about any accommodations.
If you are looking to get sober, this is a place that runs a dog through the facility and tries to take measures to better facilitate it to those that want to make a serious change for their lives. If you have derailed your life and hit rock bottom, got felonies, or you just got out of prison and have conditions, this is definitely a good spot to put your life back on track. If you are going to rehab for the right reasons, you will not have an issue with 90% of the staff. Most treatment options felt like just like they were farming us for the money, this was NOT one of those facilities.
Even if you don't know where you are, give this a shot. I'm glad I did!

Very small and intimate you don’t have to worry about dealing with the extra drama that comes with large facilities. Your literally living in a mansion on the hills with a group of ppl that will quickly become your friends who comes from all over. Out of all the facilities I’ve been to this is def the best especially if your older and prefer to be around more mature individuals. There was never a strict schedule for fresh air or smoking, nor eating. The chef came in 6 days a week and your free to enter the kitchen. They had a little snatch bar as well that’s stocked full of great snacks and a fresh pop corn machine. This my stay was the winter to spring months of 2019 I’m pretty sure it prob hasn’t changed much. After struggling with addiction, I made one of the best decisions of my life.
Checked in 11-20-2021 and checked out 12-19-2021. The house was comfortable and welcoming. Watching the sunsets from the backyard was like a postcard. It was nice to have a pool and hot tub. Would have been nice to have exercise equipment. I liked the small atmosphere. The maximum clients is six. Made some great friends. The staff was amazing, minus a couple of people. My case manager was there to help me with anything I needed from filling out FMLA, filing Short Term Disability, setting up aftercare, and everything inbetween. The groups were informational. We were taught how to live a life of sobriety. The seven hour daily groups got monotonous towards the end. The therapist left some to be desired. She was very nice, but we didn't learn much about CBT or DBT. I was looking forward to having a therapist for the first time, but I only ended up getting an hour one on one session the thirty days I was there. The food was fantastic. Pete, Dom and Amy are great chefs. I gained twenty pounds! Two months sober and looking forward to many more. I highly recommend California Highlands Vistas if you're struggling with addiction.

This program is amazing and made such a huge impact on my sobriety. I participated in the outpatient program and attended a few of the in person sessions, but mainly attended the online sessions due to my work schedule.
Derek’s online sessions created a safe space and not once did I ever feel judged. He gives so much grace, encouragement, education, and experience. Addiction is not a one size fits all model and he really took the time to understand everyone’s individual needs and met us all where we were at in our journey.
Taking the first step and asking for help was the hardest part for me and the only regret I have is not starting sooner.
Vanessa and Derek have two completely different styles, but they are both phenomenal. I HIGHLY recommend Ranch Creek. My life is forever changed and I am truly so grateful.

It hasn’t been long yet, so I can’t speak to the long-term results, but I can already say that my experience with the staff—especially the woman who communicates with me—has been very positive. She takes everything to heart and shows a high level of responsibility and care.
I truly hope that when my son completes his program, he will be better prepared to take care of himself, make mature choices, and live independently. From what I’ve seen so far, I feel optimistic that this center will help him grow in that direction.

Servic | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Wow I was reading through the reviews and I’m disappointed in all those that had their bad experience!!! I went back in 2004 I was completely broken in so many ways they all called me corn fed cause I was from Oklahoma I was a mechanic there and kept the fleets going I made it through phase 1 and then started the phase 2 and of course I backslid a bit and got popped with a drug test and failed didn’t want to leave and at the same time didn’t want to restart phase 1 all over again and to be honest some of my best nights were digging holes and I always preferred the ground that wasn’t touched and that dirt sparked at night funny thing was most made it a week or so ordeal in thier holes literally a 6’ deep 6’ long 3’ wide hole it was a burial site and I had it of demons to kill and bury, I didn’t mess around though I busted out my holes within hours of starting, I always loved the morning fire side chats and proverbs chapters and pondering in those verses that spoke to me!!! No matter what in life there has to be a certain amount of suffering to grow and if any of you gripe about those sufferings then yall are missing the entire point!!! Bless this place and all that go to it!!!

I was a former client here and my treatment team that i work with was awesome. Their therapist is fantastic at what they do and offer more sessions upon request. They are here for what you need if you are really trying to work on yourself to get better and change your life for the better good no matter what is going on. I still got my keychain on my dresser in my room that i got from them when i left. I would recommend this place to someone struggling with alcohol or drugs or even mental health.
