About Embark Behavioral Health – Campbell

Embark Behavioral Health Campbell is located in Campbell, California inside Hamilton Plaza. They’re focussed on treating mental health issues along with substance abuse. They treat anybody from 12-28 years old, including LGBTQ+ and non binary as well.

They strive to help young people meet and beat the challenges of emotional and behavioral difficulties. They look for harmful behaviors such as self harm or substance abuse or any other unsafe activities that might mean you have a more serious mental health condition and need to be in one of their programs.

Intensive Outpatient Program

In their intensive outpatient program or IOP, therapy sessions are typically done in the evening so you can go to school or work. Sessions last from one to five hours and you’ll meet four to six times per week.

Partial Hospitalization Program

The partial hospitalization program or PHP is a more structured one and it’s for 12-28 year olds who need the most intensive outpatient care. The good thing about this program is that you can still return home instead of most typical PHPs and inpatient or residential programs where you can’t. You’ll get structured hospital level support here and it’s great for those who are considered a danger to themselves.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient

They also have a virtual intensive outpatient program which is great for patients and their families who might have obstacles commuting to the treatment center. You’ll work with a managed care coordination team that provides a level of care that meets the quality you’d receive in person.

Payments and Past Experiences

All of their programs have different payment options. They take in network, out of network and self pay, and they offer single case agreements for out of network payments.

People who have been here say it’s a beautiful facility that puts teens and parents at ease, they have beautiful therapy dogs, and the administrators are dedicated. Others have said they felt there was a little too much downtime while there, especially during the first day.

Fraudulent charges made on my credit card for over $2000. The intake person prior to signing up with Embark had assured me that after I've met my deductible (which I paid in full at the beginning) there would be no other payment. Indeed, my insurance paid them in full for all services. However, toward the end of the program, Embark charged my credit card. I contacted Embark business office but they keep sending me a template email response without correcting their mistakes. I wonder if it is designed this way, hoping that people will just give up trying to get reimbursement and they can keep the fraudulently gained credit card charges. It's very sad that they are taking advantage of desperate people in need of help. There should be no reason for them to ask for your credit card number. Beware, please.

If you have a strict schedule and cannot free up all your time... DO NOT GO HERE! I was told insurance would allow me to come late as my schedule was filling up. Missed sessions are hundreds of dollars, and they discharged me and left me with $1,100+ "fines for being late." After emailing back and forth, they threatened to send me to collections. Unbelievable.

I know my son was safe, that’s the only positive I will give them. They lied about what there program was, sold me on an educational component that didn’t actually exist and swore their care was customized when it was scripted and not at all appropriate for my son. They then told my it would cost me price and I was billed at a rate that double what was expected. I was told my insurance covered this program, evidently not as much as I understood. Overall, I’m sorry I wasted my time and money and kept my son out of school for the program at Embark. Lesson learned on the mental health scam

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Embark Behavioral Health – Campbell works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Clinical Services

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.
