Keith my IOP counselor helped me through a very hard time in my life and taught me healthy coping skills. From day one I felt supported and encouraged to work towards living a sober life style. Keith's group really helped me process my feelings and emotions and in turn taught me that there was a better way to live life free from substances. I was an angry and broken person when I entered the program and after serval months of the program I learned how to let things go and learned so many tools to dealing with my substance abuse issues. The therapists and overall care team at Embark has gotta be the best clinical team in the Bay Area. I was with them from 2025 -2026 with a couple months break in between to receive higher level of care. Throughout the entire process, I was not left alone. Upon my return, we jumped straight back into therapy. The staff is so incredibly kind, lighthearted, fun, and real man. I went it with no hope, and came out with the will to preserve and to advocate for myself and my safety. The therapists are trauma informed (some specialize in other areas, but the team works together so well to build of off each others' skills and expertise). You're in great hands. They helped my son through crisis, and were amazing in communicating and helping us get the right services needed. It’s a place that offers so much when a child is struggling and they do it in such a caring way. Even a year after graduating, my son goes back to visit. The Truth 6 months ago I think this is a wonderful rehab, the facilities are beautiful, the food is amazing (I have never even had food this good at a restaurant), and above all they have really helped my husband. Obviously anyone that first goes to rehab isn’t happy with their situation but in just two short months he was a changed person. The work they have them do on themselves got him to finally see why drugs and alcohol are no way of life. He’s finally sober and actually enjoying it! This rehab helped him so much he actually chose to stay LONGER, and I am for once excited for what the future can bring. My body was failing and mental state was terrible. Every part of the program touches on every aspect of the addicts life. It’s a calm, supportive place where you can actually focus on getting better and figuring things out. What makes this place different is the staff. Every person I met has been through addiction themselves, so they truly get it. You’re not talking to people reading from a book. You’re talking to people who have lived it and come out the other side. That shows in the way they listen, the way they talk to you, and the patience and compassion they bring every day. The groups were helpful and real. People share honestly and support each other. The counselors and techs are down to earth and always willing to talk if you’re having a rough day. I came here severely addicted and further traumatized by what I put myself and my family through. I needed a place where I would be treated with dignity, individually recognized for what has been ailing me and personally encouraged. This what I found here, and with a genuine compassion I have never seen or felt as an addict. There is an exceptional quality here, from checkng-in through medical treatment, group processing, education, abundance of nutrition, therapy excercise, wellness and technical assistance. With a maximum of five other clients to go through the recovery process with, the Directors of the program and even the CEO rolled up their sleeves personally caring for my recovery process. For the first time in my life since I was introduced to substances I don't hate life without them. It has been almost five months since I left wellness Retreat and I still go back on Monday afternoons to join the dance classes that gave me so much hope and happiness when I was feeling so low and dark in the beginning. Once medically stable in the hospital, he was discharged to Mission Oaks for therapy with the goal to get his independence back in his home. There are 15 beds in the unit. Consider yourself very fortunate if you or your loved one gets admitted. This facility is top notch. The staff here are professional, caring, hardworking, and exceptional at what they do. The vast majority have been here for many, many years. It's not a revolving door. They are proud of what they have created. It's the culture here. Relearning to walk (PT), grab a cup (OT), or swallow for that matter (Speech Therapy), doesn't just happen. It requires hard work by both the patient and the staff. Nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital call this place "Boot Camp". From what I have learned, rehab is most effective when started soon after a stroke. Because of this, the therapists push to get the most out of the patients when they are here. I wish I could name everyone who has helped us. It would be the entire staff. I started noting individual names, but after I hit the 20 mark, I figured I would miss someone who definitely deserved credit. Expect several hours of various types of therapy per day. Filling in the gaps are a dedicated team of nurses that make sure your loved one vitals are tracked and correct medicine administered. The nurses all are friendly and care about you or your loved one. My father at 78 years of age came here unable to walk on his own or use his left hand. Two weeks later, he's walking and using his hand. He now has the ability and confidence to get back to living a life of independence. He will have some care initially, but the goal is to minimize the amount of care he gets over time. They have a care coordinator and social worker here on the floor that will actively work out a plan for you and/or loved one. I have heard horror stories about other facilities in the area. I didn't have trouble getting in contact with the facility using the unit phone number provided. My son felt safe. He didn't have any complaints about the staff. He said the food was pretty good. I didn't give 5 stars because some of his personal belongings weren't returned including a hat, glitter paper, and cards and letters written by loved ones that he was never given or allowed to see. Also because I don't think it was time for him to be released yet and he was readmitted to another facility within 72 hrs. The first time was for my abdominal pain which was referred to me by my old physician after my bad experience with another hospital. The staff at ECH took me in for 5 days and even took great care of me. Did all the testing and gave me a bounty of meds and even had me referred to a Gastro doctor for further examination. Something the other hospital failed to do. Second time was me getting further sick due to weight and throat issues. I came in feeling like a sick zombie with a slight fever. I was admitted in for 7 days and during this, they found the underlying problem was due to my mitral heart valve not flowing blood correctly and that I needed open heart surgery. If it weren't for this hospital, I probably wouldn't be here. They took extra good care of me as I was recovering from ICU and outpatient visits.
