Biggest waste of $50,000 dollars and a month of my life to date. Can’t believe I fell for this scam. Do not consider emptying the bank to receive “treatment” here if you have anything beyond a drug or alcohol addiction. I was promised holistic treatment for an eating disorder and other mental health problems over the phone - and to my surprise after traveling for days.. they didn’t have a single psychologist or therapist/counselor certified to treat eating disorders. In fact, they didn’t know the first thing about eating disorders. I was trapped at the house most of the time (not great for someone with depression!!) with the exception of one or two underwhelming excursions a week. The excursions and activities didn’t involve therapy whatsoever. I felt like I was being babysat 90% of the time. There were a couple nurses and chefs that were pleasant. And the doctor (naturopath, not MD) seemed to actually care about what I had to say, which was the only redeeming quality of the entire experience. I left this place more depressed than when I arrived… and if I didn’t transfer somewhere with REAL PROFESSIONAL HELP, I wouldn’t have known there was hope for me. Many others that received treatment at the same time as me felt similarly. We were desperate for real help, answers, or money back - none of which we got... even after speaking with the owners. They politely blew me off and said there was nothing they could do about it. I would not recommend this experience to anyone that I care about. EDIT: I went almost a year ago (10/24) so I’m hoping things have improved since then. I see that they’ve rebranded to a “detox center” which is definitely more appropriate. I hope they don’t market to other mental health conditions any longer. I wish those that go the best, but unfortunately that was not my experience. There is so much I could say about this place, those who were running it at the time of my stay, and my traumatic experience but I will choose to keep those details to myself. I still feel sorry for the younger version of myself who finally reached out for help and was met with this unorganized and under-trained/under-educated facility/faculty that made me feel more alone in my suffering.

I tried a couple places back on the mainland for my drinking, but nothing stuck. Here, it’s different. It’s not just therapy—it’s learning how to live again. The ocean, the people, the peace… it just clicks. Don’t overthink it. Just go.

Accepted Insurance

Exclusive Hawaii Rehab works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs ensure clients' continued access to personalized care after the completion of formal addiction treatment. Case managers and recovery teams assess clients' needs and goals and identify the rehab aftercare services to best support clients' sustained sobriety. Clients may receive a variety of services to facilitate their successful reintegration into their home, workplace, and community, including peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other programs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is the safest way to help rid your body of addictive substances. It takes place in an inpatient setting under the supervision of licensed medical professionals who monitor your vitals and provide any necessary medications to alleviate potential withdrawal symptoms. Typically, this is the first step in the addiction recovery process, and it is often followed by inpatient treatment.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Within a group therapy environment, people can see other individuals walk through a successful recovery and model behaviors that provide them with inspiration and practical examples of how to manage their addiction and maintain their sobriety within the community.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in Hawaii, your therapist may borrow techniques from multiple forms of therapy based on your needs. Methods may include cognitive behavioral therapy and emotionally focused therapy. The ultimate goal of treatment is a stronger relationship.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Family therapy engages members in a collective effort to understand and combat addiction. Therapists help families establish healthy boundaries and improve emotional support systems. By working together, family members can help their loved one sustain long term recovery.

As a professional seeking treatment for anxiety and depression, my criteria were stringent. Exclusive Hawaii Rebal exceeded them. The integration of evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT) with holistic practices like mindfulness in a nature-rich environment is masterful. The staff are not only highly qualified but also genuinely compassionate. The program provided me with practical tools for management and the space to heal. It’s a premium experience that is worth every penny for the long-term wellness it provides.

My sister struggled with an eating disorder for years. We felt hopeless. Her time at Exclusive Hawaii Rehab was the turning point. She didn't just get treatment; she found a reason to fight for herself. The team built her up with such kindness and strength. She’s been home for six months now, and she’s healthy, happy, and present. Seeing her recover her life is a miracle we’ll always be grateful for.

Response from the owner
Wow, we are so grateful for sharing your sister's recovery progress.

As a veteran, you don’t always fit in at regular rehabs. The veteran program here is different. The other guys, the staff—they speak your language. You can talk about stuff without having to explain yourself for once. We did hikes, talked story, and dealt with the PTSD and painkiller dependency that followed me home. It felt like a mission to get better, and we had each other's six. I haven’t felt this clear-headed in a decade.

I came for drug addiction feeling broken and skeptical. From the first day, the entire team wrapped around me with support that felt authentic, not clinical. A special shoutout to the owner, who I saw actively involved every single week, checking in with clients and ensuring the entire operation ran with heart and integrity. That level of care trickles down to everyone. The facilities are beautiful, but it’s the people and the culture they’ve built that truly heals you. An unforgettable experience.

Read their website thoroughly and couldn't find any costs. The insurance verifier option was helpful as I learned they don't take Hawaii Medicaid or Quest. Completed an inquiry form hoping to get my questions answered but it's been a few days with no call or text. Website is nice. Still hoping to talk to a real person though.

Response from the owner

The therapist I worked with, David, helped me access parts of myself I had buried for years. This place isn’t just about detox—it’s about reconnecting with yourself. The ocean, the nature, the intentional care... it all worked together. I left feeling like I could breathe again.
