Came from out of state to guest dose here and the process was seamless and easy. Very nice people and a great island all the way around to visit. Loved the whole island all the way around. And usually I dont post reviews but I had planned a trip previously to Tennessee which is where my sister lives. And I was guaranteed through my drs and the drs in Tennessee they everything was approved to go smoothly. Except when I got there nurses said they spoke to nurses who lied and said they didnt and they whole entire mess ruined the trip. So I wanted to make sure I gave this clinic a sparkling ✨️ review because when you're in a program that you depend on and you check all the boxes and do everything you should then things should go as promised. This clinic helped make the trip happen the way that it should. And I commend the nurses, drs, and staff members that help people like me every single day. 😊

Case mangers phone mail boxes consistently full lack of communication non compliance with American,s with Disabilities Act(A.D.A.) and A.D.AAA) federal law. I give Care Hawaii an F- grade. They’re totally incompetent. There’s a blatant lack of oversight. If clients complain about the lack sercives they receive, they’re retaliated upon. Which is ok with the state of hawaii dept of human sevices (med Quest div) who has the reponsibility of oversight but choose ineable there blatant misconduct. The person in charge of any oversights for the state dept of human services (med Quest div) used to work for care hawaii. Welcome to corruption at its best! They tell their clients under the community care program (ccs) that Care Hawaii has a contract with Centene. They knew that WellCare, doing business as Ohana Health Plan, who they’re also in bed with (in the hui) that they will see clients once a month (which is as mandated by the contract with med Quest) and say that there are five acuity levels of care that determines the frequency of service requirements established by the state of hawaii dept of human services (med Quest div). There’s been blatant non-complicance of C.F.R.s (Code of Federal Regulations) established by the federal dept of human services, C.M.S. (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services), and H.H.S. (Health and Human Services) whom all suspect a lack of oversight by the state of hawaii dept of human services (med Quest div). Centene, WellCare’s new name, doing business as Ohana Health Plan, Care Hawaii, and Mental Health Kokua are all in a criminal hui — they all belong with Catherine Kealoha. They’re nothing but big fat liars!!

This is a wonderful program run by a great group of therapists/counselors.

I'm in South Carolina. My daughter found her way to Hilo then Kona. She has so many past issues with mental health and drug addiction and this place hasn't been able to save her but omg they are trying. She has a case manager, Susan Boston, that deserves some of the biggest accolades and I want her to get everyone. This woman has gone far behind her job description to keep me in the loop and to help ease my constant worry and angst regarding my daughter. She has over 40 +patients but she makes me feel like my daughter is the only one. My life line 4000 miles away. Kelli Kinsman

There's no shame in seeking help in a place like this. After a year I know for a fact that my life needed this type of healing. If you want to change things, consider giving this place a call.

Excellent medical doctors and clinic support.

Extremely kind staff. Helped me transition to FtM (Transgender) and explained everything to me one step at a time, me having ADHD they made sure to walk me through everything carefully so i would understand. 10/10 would definitely recommend if your wanting to transition, also Bubbles 🫧 is very nice on the phone!

FIRST OF ALL THE ABOVE POST IS BS THEY'VE ONLY TAKEN A 20 MIN LUNCH BREAK 1X PER DAY BETWEEN 8AM AND 820 THE ENTIRE TIME I HAD BEEN GOING! THEY DESERVE THAT! 27 years I have been attending this clinic Ku Aloha Ola Mau has the most relaxing atmosphere, great staff, and caring councilors. In and out wait time due to its a small town/small population. But be aware its the only methadone clinic on the island (Big Island). And out of all the islands there are only 3 clinics i know of 2 on Oahu and the 1 here Ku Aloha. Plan your travels wisely.

The well educated counselors and skilled therapists at ‘O’hana Makamae approach recovery differently from other drug and alcohol treatment centers. Clients are seen as individuals and are treated as valued members of a family. They Recognize no “one size” recovery plan works for everyone. Treatment plans provide life skills used in building individual success stories. Is ‘Ohana Makamae for everyone... absolutely not. It’s purpose is to be a hand that leads those suffering with substance use disorders out of the darkness into the light.... while embracing Hawaiian values, traditions and heritage. I enjoyed everyday working with the clinical staff and witnessing lives change. I’d most definitely return in the future.

Professional, empathetic. Run by a long term provider who understands the clients. Not rigid. Easily accessible. Nice to be somewhere you can say the truth and be yourself.

I was in a bad way luckily for me I was court ordered to do classes. I went in with a closed mind and after a couple of classes, I realized how messed up I was and started to go to the classes with an open mind. Christopher is a very good councilor, he got through to me like no one could. Long story short I learned a lot about myself and the reasons I am the way I am and how to change the destructive patterns I was choosing. Christopher and Access Capabilities help me change my life for the better. And to top it off he worked out a payment plan for me because I didn’t have health care coverage at the time. Thank you Chris and access capabilities!
